Vince Sr, Vince Jr and Frank are absolutely the best at what they do, brakes and customer service . I bought a 1991 Toyota FJ80, the previous owner had just had the brakes done at the dealership Toyota of Buena Park. What's huge $942 mistake ! They actually caused more damage than good. Vince and his team threw away all the dealer parts and started from scratch. New brake hoses , new pads and shoes. Rebuild the cylinders added a new booster and master cylinder with new vacuum tank. Now the big SUV stops! They also changed the bearing and front axial spindle and hub bea use the dealer didn't tighten them and they rubbed and caused warping and metal grinding. If they don't feel that the car is safe they won't let it go! Most important to know that not only do they do brakes on classic cars and customs, they can also do them on your daily driver or even your propeller plane! If it has brakes that can do it!

Burly master cylinder and power booster that replaced my 52 year old jelly jar.

I am adding my review to, oh nothing, all 5 star reviews! These guys deserve it. I bought a front disc brake conversion kit from another company for my truck and CH Topping made it all work with a new master, booster, and splitting lines. I could have done the job myself but did not want to (time, space, etc), but I have done it in the past. I am only saying that because I know what is involved with the job. Price was spot on and their knowledge and experience is outstanding. When I picked up my truck and we opened the hood, all I needed to see was the stainless steel brake lines bent to perfection. I basically said stop talking, I can see what amazing work they do just from that. Vinny was great to deal with and everyone was friendly and professional. Seriously, if you have some custom brakes that need to be dealt with, this is the shop. I will be promoting them on my podcast and website without their knowledge...they are that good. l cannot recommend them enough.

The best shop in So. Cal. For anything brakes. These guys always go the distance. Quality work every time. If they can't find the part they'll make it. Vince & Vinny and crew have the old school work ethic that is very rare today. Don't look anywhere else just go to C. H. Topping it's worth the wait.

Came here on recommendation- well worth it. Dropped car off with Vinny, he called me in a few hours with recommendations and a quote. Quote was super reasonable and he was spot on with his estimate of how long it would take. This is an appointment only brake only shop that has been a round since the 30's. Specializing with I assume older classic cars there was a modern SUV there. With a history servicing the Long Beach area, I felt their knowledge and understanding and timely attention is well worth it. The main entrance and counter is on Esther, the vehicle drop off is in the back from the alley. Took me a minute to find it as the tree out front was blocking the CH Topper sign. If you are traveling from the PCH to Magnolia and take the turn on Esther, it's the 3 building from the end, next to a bright Teal (very bright) Masonic Building.

They responded quickly, were courteous, and didn't try to tack on a diagnostic fee just to take a look. When I dropped off the car, the technician walked me through their process, starting with the bulbs before moving into any potential electrical issues (which I really appreciated.) It ended up being the simplest fix: both bulbs were burned out. They had everything replaced within a few hours. Fair pricing, clear communication, and no upselling. I'll definitely be back for future repairs. Side note- they have the cutest shop kitten. ‍

I brought my vehicle here for many years for routine work mostly out of convenience. What followed…read morewas a long, expensive performance art piece about how many times the same job can be done incorrectly. Highlights: Rack and pinion replaced FOUR times. Not "adjusted." Not "revisited." Replaced. Four. Times. And somehow it still wasn't right. Still feels like I'm driving a haunted house, full of surprises. Alternator replacement done with the flair of a minimalist. As in: the car left with one belt installed on a dual-belt system. Someone decided "one belt is plenty!" it's a bold, eco-friendly statement. Experimental? Sure. Functional? Only if you're into spontaneous roadside adventures. And once I decided to replace the belts myself the tensioner was missing from the assembly. Every time I'd take it in for something routine it'd come out with an additional issue. It's like a subscription box, but for mechanical failures. Warranty work that exists mostly as a concept. Multiple issues that were supposedly covered had to be chased repeatedly, re-explained, and in some cases paid for again just to get the car back. If you enjoy learning the fine art of "following up" on work that was already warranted, you'll feel right at home. The real magic is that none of this was framed as uncertainty or troubleshooting. Each visit came with confidence. Confidence is doing a lot of work here. At a certain point you stop being frustrated and start being impressed. Four rack-and-pinion attempts suggests either: 1. a deep commitment to learning by repetition, or 2. a philosophical rejection of "fixing" as a concept. Either way, I now know more about my car than I ever wanted to, which is great, except I paid someone else to know those things. If you enjoy returning to the same shop repeatedly to fix the same problem while being told this time it's definitely sorted, you'll love it here. If you want your car repaired correctly the first time or even the second time, and have warranty work honored without a prolonged correspondence, I'd recommend literally anywhere else. Including YouTube, a flashlight, and a ratchet set.

They called to give me a full report of what they found when doing the inspection and gave me the estimated costs and possible extra charges if they ran into potential issues associated with the kind of fix they were doing. Luckily they did not have to do the extras! The prices were absolutely fair (I did research on the issue and what they charged me was in line with the average cost of the service). Service was quick and my car is running perfectly now. And the biggest thing for me - a long time ago I had to get a very quick fix for a broken side view mirror. The mechanic (not Elite, a mechanic in Philly) installed the mechanics of the power control the wrong way and so the controls did the opposite of what I wanted (moving the knob up turned the mirror left, moving the knob left turned the mirror down, etc.). When I got in my car to drive home I adjusted my mirrors and the team FIXED THIS ISSUE FOR ME! They didn't mention it and they didn't charge me. I'm sure it was a super quick and simple fix on their end, but the fact that they noticed this, took the initiative to fix it, and didn't even take the credit for it - so cool.
