Took my 1968 mustang fastback here because I heard good things from a friend who took his Porsche to Johnson's Alignment. I wanted the springs dropped a tad, roller bearing spring perches installed and an alignment performed. They expertly cut some of the dead coils to drop the front end about a 1/2" . After installing the spring perches, they noticed one of the shock towers were cracked. They pre-aligned everything and then drilled out and expertly welded the cracked shock tower and then asked me 'how much I weighed'. "How much I weighed?"...never been asked that before! They then added 178 lbs to the driver seat and did the final alignment. I got the car back and it was a revelation to drive. My car never rode or handled so good. I gave them custom alignment specs for the Mustang. Most shops I went to couldn't accommodate these because 'the computer' has the stock Ford alignment specs and they can't stray from them. Had a sound in my steering column when making a tight slow turn. Like a rubbing. Was told by a mechanic I needed an alignment. Review overdue, I just did not have time. I got my watts link reinstalled by Johnson's Alignment a month ago on my 2011 Shelby GT500. The previous installer was Galpin Auto Sports who is supposed to be experts in mustangs and they messed up their install with the bolts coming off loose and the watts link about to all come off (good thing I caught it in time). Johnson's Alignment did an amazing job. John is very knowledgeable on watts link system. At first I was concerned because I do not see any mustangs in the shop, just several porsches. So I provided him with the manufactures watts link instructions but he already understood what needed to be done just by looking at the parts. He also loctite the bolts which Galpin Autosports failed to do. Just one thing to keep in mind, when I went, there was a long wait list. So I did not get the service until about 2 weeks later. Brought my 62 Chevy C10 to Johnson for steering box issue and much to my surprise the truck had so many other issues John found including a ball joint the bold back out of which could have need catastrophic. John was very knowledgeable. Johnsons ended up doing shocks all around, new ball joints, Replaced a broken motor mount and install a sway bar and alignment for a very reasonable price. This place does great work. I had some extremely inferior/incorrect work done on my 1994 Chevy Astro, so I brought it to Johnson's because I knew from prior experience/recommendation of Mitch at AstroMotive that they would do the job right. They conducted a full inspection and had to reinstall the front springs and upper control arm bolts that weren't done correctly. (See my other reviews for who did this inept work). Updating my review to 1 star... Had my vehicle aligned. Then took it back because my front tires were starting to show signs of feathering. The reason John gave was due to under inflation. With Johnson's Alignment being in business for decades this was his expert explanation. Maybe he does not understand with the internet any layperson can research possible causes of feathering. Needless to say generally it is due to a toe being off. I took it to Japanese Auto Center paid for another alignment, feathering issue fixed by correcting the toe. What is the most undesirable character of an expert is lack of honesty. Hence, the updated rating. read more

So... to be fair this review is about an experience around 20 years ago. This was before yelp, maybe, but definitely before I cared to write any reviews as a twenty year old. I came here to get my 68 Camaro aligned and also asked them to safety check all suspension bolts and hardware etc. After getting my car and inspecting the suspension, I noticed there was no cotter pin in the castle nut on the steering arm. This is a safety issue that I specifically asked them to inspect and address. I went back and asked for a refund on the labor. I was met with the most patronizing, dismissive response one could imagine. It was this Steven character, and it's pretty amusing to me that he's still there. Kind of a trip. I hate given 1 star reviews but I showed up to my appointment that was scheduled 10 days in advance to hear sorry but we didn't write your appointment in our book we can't do your alignment today. I understand we're human we fuck up from time to time only I got really fucked because I asked permission from work to leave early for this appointment and my receipt would be my proof. No alignment no receipt no proof to show my work why I had to leave early. Oh boy ! My work is super strict when it comes to attendance. Johnson's does do good alignments I've been a customer for 30 years the problem is they are working with no receptionist and so make your appointment edged in stone. On another note if you have a newer advanced air ride system installed on your car don't come here for an alignment they can't understand it and don't realize how simple and accurate they function and throws them into a panic lol. From the first call on the phone, I could appreciate the attention to detail from everyone at the shop. Steve was massively knowledgeable about my 1996 Porsche 911 C2, and helped to give it the alignment it has needed for years. The team was able to perform a front and rear alignment, corner balance, ride-height adjustment, and set the kinematic toe with the Autometrics tool all in a morning's work. The car sits beautifully, and has great road handling characteristics, and hopefully this will prevent my car from shredding another set of rear tire inside corners like it just did. Lol!!! Been quite some time since my bad experience when I owned my previous truck. Thought I'd give this place another chance since they're local to me. Didn't catch who I spoke with this morning. The receptionist cut me off twice as I was trying to explain my situation and eventually got transferred to someone. Again didn't catch his name. But, explained my situation when this man came on the line. Just the way he answered the phone you could tell he didn't want to help me. I swear... call for yourself to find out.... But this shop in person and over the phone are EXTREMELY RUDE. Maybe the owner/managers are cocky because they have people who continue to use them. Why? I don't know. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU STAY AWAY FROM THIS "shop". I'm all about giving second chances to local businesses... There're plenty of alignment shops in the South Bay who truly want your business and will treat the customer with a professional demeanor. But not in this case. Found them through a friend. They're kind, honest, and are quick. I took my Mercedes in for this squeaking sound. I was told by another mechanic they didn't hear it and my brakes were fine. Brought it here. At first they didn't hear it. We took a drive around the block until they heard it. Turns out, I didn't have Mercedes brand brakes. I think this well be my go to alignment shop from now on. I got an alignment yesterday and they were very patient on working on my car (2010 Mazda 3) especially for the rears which has little to no room if you're adjusting the camber arms. Their shop is clean. Their price seems to be reasonable considering how meticulous they are. Steve was a little intimidating at first but it looks like he's just a straightforward guy and means business. John on the other hand was super nice and easy to talk to. He even gave me heads up on some things that I need to watch out for and needs replacing soon. I highly recommend this spot and will for sure come back if ever I need alignment. read more
