I was driving through the lovely tiny foothills town of Penn Valley when I eyed this gorgeous, sleek, shiny, and modern food truck with a queue of folks in front of it. Why not... so I stopped to check out the situation. I'm always game for street tacos. Cesar's Quick Lunch is the name of the biz. It was parked on Penn Valley Road in the True Value hardware parking lot. Next to the truck are a couple of picnic tables with sun umbrellas. The tables are painted a super cute lime green. Street tacos $1.75. Meat choices: Asada, carnitas, al pastor, Chile verde, and pollo. Burritos $7. Nachos $7. Tortas $7. Bottled Mexican Cokes and Jarritos. Ya! Soda made from real cane sugar and not that HFCS madness. I ordered an asada and a pastor street taco each. The plate came with sliced limes and slices of jalapeños. Mmmm... both tacos were good! But the al pastor was a big hit with me. It was so darn flavorful. It was a bit messier to eat because of that awesome marinade. I'm not complaining tho. Delicious! They also cater. I just had a great lunch here with two hungry guys. We had agua fresca, quesadillas with chicken, chicken street tacos and a few different burritos. Everything was excellent and fresh! The high quality of the ingredients really shone through the flavors And the way I felt after the meal, which was wonderful! Food was ok. I ordered the shrimp tacos, I'm sure the inside of the breading was raw. It felt wet and undercooked. My brother ordered an adobada/al pastor torta and they gave him asada. They didn't return it because they said it was good. Their beans have little flavor as well as their rice. The staff was friendly and we got our food pretty quick. The restaurant itself is kinda awkward as it only had small tall tables against the wall when there's so much room in the middle. Was it a good place to try! Yes. Would we go back? This is for the new location in Grass Valley, by Savemart, 2 doors down from Blessed Nails. So many burritos at other places are all bulk n little flavor---but NOT this place! This has got to be the most flavorful (n healthy) burrito I've had in these past 5 years in GV! Plus the "jugo fresco" (fresh juice) is perfect, refreshing, not all sugary, with tiny bits of fruit. Amazing Mexican food! I've had both the Asada and Carnitas tacos and they are delicious. In addition the the wonderful food, Cesar and his wife are so sweet! The only thing I would like to see is some HOT salsa, the hot salsa they had was just too mild for me. This food truck is becoming a weekly habit for me! What can I say... Cesar and his wife are the most amazing and sweetest people ever. Their food is always fresh and they make you feel like family. They greet you with a smile and always are quick but thorough. The food is beyond authentic and it is the best Mexican food in this area. I love Cesars! The service is always so friendly and the wait time is pretty quick, even if it wasn't the food is worth an extra 10-15 minute wait. My boyfriend and I always get the garbage quesadillas which are flour tortillas stuffed with pretty much every kind of juicy meat, cheese, some cilantro, and its grilled shut (its ridiculously filling and amazingly good). 10/10 reccomend :) read more

I just moved from San Diego, and have had a bit of difficulty finding authentic TJ style street food in the area. This place scratches that itch quite nicely. I got three tacos with al pastor, chicken, and carnitas. All three were delicious, and at $1.75 each are excellently priced. The pastor had a bit more cumin than I'm typically into, but it was still tasty. If you're in Penn Valley around lunch, this truck is worth a stop. I had a really pleasant experience with the food I ordered the first time. I had a carne Assad burrito & the first thing that came out of my mouth was "this is phenomenal" My last 2 visits here have me wondering if I was just really hungry that day. I don't care for the flavor of the green salsa & I thought that's what had ruined for me on my 2nd trip. I had tried the hot salsa my first time around & wanted to give the mild a shot when I came back. Asked for it on the side, but they put it all over the burrito & it just ruined it for me :( Thought I'd give it one more shot today & even bought my parents lunch. My asada tasted a day or 2 old & was suuuuper salty. My dad enjoyed the flavor of his chicken burrito, but said the meat was too dry. As for my mom, she got carnitas tacos & spat out the first bite she took, followed by throwing it away. Super sad. I thought after my first time eating here that this would become my new obsession...
