    Oxtail plate
    Rian C.

Food: 4/10 I ordered the oxtail plate. The oxtail was dry and had no sauce at all. Same goes for the mac and cheese and rice and peas. With the oxtail being dry the flavor was missing---the meat just tasted like there was not enough seasoning, not a hint of heat from the scotch bonnet peppers. It tasted like I was eating day old food. Service: 7/10 There was only one employee there and he was nice enough. Ambiance: 5/10 It was loud and the employee could barely hear what my order was.

This is my 2nd time getting some take-out from here and I got a medium oxtail with Mac n cheese and peas and rice and I thought they were going to givee a piece of cornbread since she asked me if liked cornbread, which I do, but alas, there was none when I opened it. The food is good and staff seems friendly. She remembered me. They have a DJ who was playing when I first walked in, but he was closing down and left before my food was ready. The place has a night club type of vibe to it. It was almost 8 pm on a Sunday. I was the only customer. They are tucked away in the plaza on Monaco drive where the laundromat is, behind where Walgreens used to be. Give them some business if you like Caribbean food. They do have some lunch specials too.

I passed this place while doing an Uber ride. Pulling up you'll think the place is empty but once you enter you'll be surprised by the colors inside. They're beautiful and the line area is nice. Greeted, order taken we sat and waited while speaking with the other customers. The way my taste buds got excited with each bite I wanted to let others know about this place immediately. I was told the jerk chicken was just as delicious as my jerk burger. I will be back!!!

Authentic Jamaican cuisine, friendly staff and ambiance is on point, the Jamaican vibe. Awesome oxtails and jerk chicken.

Great food and price for the (M) serving size. There is plenty to take home for another serving.

I came in straight from work, got 1 plate of jerk chicken and some Pattie's.... Wound up taking another plate home so the family could enjoy as well. The jerk chicken is so tender and perfectly seasoned and chargrilled. The restaurant is got an island vibe with some island music playing in the background (not to loud, but just enough to finish the vibe of being transported with every bite. I swear... if this place was beachfront or like it's own standing building with an outdoor tropical place... you would definitely think you got transported. It's super clean including the bathrooms. The owner is filled with joy everytime I saw someone walk in/leave. My server was Lucy (she's also a bartender there), if you go.. ask for Lucy (she work the later part of the week), tell her Trisha recommended her With the quality of food, the cleanliness of the restaurant, the amazing service that I received today... this place is going to be a neighborhood favorite without a doubt!

The staff was so friendly and appreciative when hearing that it was my first time visiting. The waitress even brought out a sample of their goat dish. There was island music playing in the background to set the vibe, along with a map of the Caribbean at every table. My jerk chicken came out quickly and was delicious. The plantains were the perfect consistency, which is important to me because some places dry them out. I asked for a side of pepper sauce and it's quite hot, so consider yourself warned! While I was dining, the owner, Peter, came over and was chatting with the patrons. The ladies at the next table clearly knew him well, and I love that there are local relationships at the restaurant. It was fascinating hearing about his transition from the finance industry in Trinidad to being a restaurant entrepreneur! I only wish I had had had space to try the rum cake. It would be a joy to come back to Irie Diner and support a local business!
