JC’s Fresh Seafood - Garlic crab legs

I went to visit my mom on my birthday weekend as well as visit my childhood friends…read more My brothers birthday is about a week or so before mines and they mentioned getting him a crab boil at this seafood spot. Of course I needed to have this meal courtesy of my mom. It's been forever since I had decent garlic crab legs and this place did not disappoint. Usually places want to give you garlic butter and the crab legs barely have flavor. Here, every bite of crab meat was seasoned. They even sale their sauces for anyone to purchase. The gentleman working there on a Sunday filling in for the owner was friendly. One important thing my mom did is confirm that she wanted to have the food warned up. She mentioned that they don't do unless you ask, as it's easier to serve quick and allow the people to heat to their choice or have them do. The ambiance of this place is fresh seafood of all kinds, and not a place to sit and eat. The small dive locations are always the best and this is no different.

This place is actually really good. I'm taking a star away because they give you some of the food…read morecold, I guess maybe it's easier to deliver that way but you just need to be prepared that you probably will have to heat up any of the potatoes or mussels that you get from there. Their JC sauce is super yummy. We order from here instead of redlobster anymore, it is a much better selection and cheaper. Very good food.

Daily Seafood Market - Blue crabs

Daily Seafood Market absolutely lives up to the hype. I had seen the viral videos floating around…read moreand honestly wondered if it was exaggerated -- it's not. The videos are accurate. The portions are HUGE and they do not skimp on anything. Yes, there was a long line, but I truly didn't mind waiting because once I got my food, I understood why. The garlic crabs were seasoned perfectly and packed with flavor. The seafood was fresh and well worth standing in line. If you're debating whether it's worth the hype, it is. Come hungry and be prepared to wait -- but trust me, it's worth it.

As a family of seafood lovers who have our favorite garlic tray spots but continue to branch out, it was time for us to try this restaurant. Garlic trays are a Jacksonville staple that can be recognized by their clusters of snow or blue crabs smothered in a butter adjacent substance and adorned with classic crab boil seasonings like old Bay, Cajun spice, lemon pepper, garlic powder, and a sprinkling of parsley. Daily Seafood Market is infamous for the way that they stack a visibly large quantity of crabs into a tray (vs putting them in an aluminum pan that would fit them), which gives the customer a sense of abundance while enjoying an already indulgent treat. We had the blue garlic crab tray which comes in small, medium, or jumbo. Unlike most seafood establishments that have garlic trays that we've explored before, the sizes are not a reference to the size of the crabs, but a reference to the serving size and the amount of crabs... this is an important difference if your priority is enjoying an abundance of the sweet crab meat vs a tactile experience of cracking a bunch of crab shells. We ordered the large, which was an extremely generous portion of crabs, but I have to reemphasize that is the quantity not the size of crabs. Acknowledging that it is December and blue crabs are truly a warm water delight, the majority of what amount to about 25 crabs in the $60 large tray are what would be sold as "smalls," or "lights," at other seafood spots. It's truly a matter of preference - I'd rather have two or three meaty, jumbo blue crabs in one sitting rather than exceeding my daily recommended sodium intake eating half of a large tray (so 10-13 widdle crabs). I think the large and jumbo orders are great for pedestrian crab consumers eating them socially like crawfish. Also unique to this establishment - they season the crabs when they boil them, so I recommend getting your butter seasoned on the side. They are more salt than garlic. We will visit again for fried seafood. Their line is out the door every day, so your mileage may vary based on your preferences.
