Stopped by here to grab a little lunch. Customer service was attentively excellent. She took the time to describe the various meals to me. I ordered and waited a short time for my meal, peppered steak with bean rice. Not only was the meal delicious, but the portion size was better than average. The atmosphere in the dining area was peaceful and clean. I will return to try their curry goat.

The food was horrible! The rice did not taste fresh or authentic. The turkey was just shelf bought smoked turkey that was boiled and then stewed which made it oversalted. The veggies were so overcooked you didn't even have to chew it. My plate went straight into the trash

Jerk pork, rice & peas, cabbage

True jerk flavor; has a nice level of heat. Meat was perfectly cooked. Rice & peas delicious.

The Best Jerk Chicken!!!! If you want good Jamaican food in Jacksonville this is the place to go. The staff was so nice as well. The food was seasoned just right and you get a nice size portion with the small and medium meals. The jerk chicken we are still wanting more of. We came to Jacksonville for a wedding and stayed at a hotel 10 minutes away. The food was so good that we had it for lunch and went back to order dinner the same day. Then went back for lunch before the wedding. We would have had it a fourth time but they are closed on Sundays. Whenever I visit Jacksonville I will be stopping here to get some food. We also ordered curry chicken and fried chicken both were delicious I attached pictures.

Oxtail dinner

The food was GREAT. The owner (Balla) was friendly and you could easily tell he took pride in the food. Looking forward to going back to Balla's.

Yum!!! You want to taste the island? Come here, I promise, you will feel transported to Jamaica…read morewith the first bite! I came in straight from work, got 1 plate of jerk chicken and some Pattie's.... Wound up taking another plate home so the family could enjoy as well. The jerk chicken is so tender and perfectly seasoned and chargrilled. The restaurant is got an island vibe with some island music playing in the background (not to loud, but just enough to finish the vibe of being transported with every bite. I swear... if this place was beachfront or like it's own standing building with an outdoor tropical place... you would definitely think you got transported. It's super clean including the bathrooms. The owner is filled with joy everytime I saw someone walk in/leave. My server was Lucy (she's also a bartender there), if you go.. ask for Lucy (she work the later part of the week), tell her Trisha recommended her With the quality of food, the cleanliness of the restaurant, the amazing service that I received today... this place is going to be a neighborhood favorite without a doubt!

Love Spices' food and service at every visit! Been here several times and never disappointed. For…read morethis visit, we ordered the Jumbo Curry Chicken with Yellow Rice and Cabbage and also the Jumbo Curry Shrimp with Rice/Beans and Plantains. Wonderfully seasoned and flavorful of the Caribbean for sure! Very robust flavors that is balanced. The service is always outstanding and they double check the food with you to ensure you received what you ordered -- quality control at the finest in their restaurant. The ambiance is always bustling and busy, but also you can see the staff take great care and pride in serving the best quality of food to its customers. Love coming here and luckily close by home.

Whats better than supporting your own people, Caribbean it was. Ordered a Jumbo oxtail plate and a regular jerk chicken plate. Picked up the order bag was tied and ready to go. We left came to the house and opened them plates. Pure disappointment. I think the restaurant did this because the food was already paid for. EVERYONE WHO EATS HERE AND ORDERS ONLINE, HAVE THEM UNTIE THE BAG AND SHOW YOU YOUR FOOD. How does a Jumbo oxtail plate look like a regular plate? If i order extra gravy i want the gravy from the meat i ordered. Not a jarred sauce. My cousins jerk plate was dry as h3ll. I asked him has his plates in the past looked dry? He said no, he mentioned that his past plates the chicken is juicy with tons of gravy. Very disappointing for a black owned restaurant. I dont want to blame the restaurant as a whole as we know how the food comes out based on how the chef is preparing plates. The chef for September 09, 2026 was not hitting and needs to be reevaluated. I have let my family know who frequents this place to put that on pause. My cousin is already hesitant about returning. And i know when i return next year i definitely will not be back. I should have taken pictures but didnt. Just know people check your plates before you leave.

The staff was so friendly and appreciative when hearing that it was my first time visiting. The waitress even brought out a sample of their goat dish. It's like I ate at a different place than everyone else. There was one other party in the…read morerestaurant when we walked in at dinner time. We ordered chicken curry, jerk chicken, jerk ribs, and Rasta pasta with chicken breast. We also had the Jamaican patty as an appetizer. The Jamaican patty was ok, it got better as you ate it. Probably the most flavorful thing I tasted actually. My husband's ribs tasted like Costco ribs with jerk seasoning, pretty meh. The red beans and rice was alright but not great. My friend said her jerk chicken and the curry were alright. I had a small bite of the chicken curry and pulled several bones out of my mouth. I don't mind a leg bone or a thigh bone but when I'm pulling the little bones out that are no bigger than your fingernail, I'm not thrilled. My Rasta pasta was the biggest disappointment. The odd choice of vegetables makes sense when it arrives and you see it's literally frozen California vegetable blend that was microwaved and tossed in there. The red pepper and onion slices were so small they were more for color than flavor. The pasta was served in a "sauce" that was very thin, more like a broth, and not very flavorful. The chicken was also frozen and reheated, you could see the fake grill marks on it. It's like the dish you make when you arrive home drunk at 2:35 and are just throwing together whatever you have, but more poorly executed.
