Moved to Colorado Springs last Friday, 15 August. I was super excited to get set up with CenturyLink as I've never used them as an internet provider before. Come the day that I finally get setup on 20 August, the service itself was unbelievably slow. I had to go with a 100 mbps speed because that is the current limit at my apartment complex, but I was assured it would meet all my needs with my devices and activities, so I went for it. In less than 24 hours, I cancelled my service because I could not stand the buffering, delays, and colossal speed on just my computer alone. To make matters worse, you'd think they'd have some policy for new unsatisfied customers who are looking to cancel their policy in less than a day. Instead, their way of saying bye is charging you for their service for the next 30 days even if you aren't using them anymore. Their excuse? "We are here for you in case your future provider doesn't meet your expectations until the service is cut off." CenturyLink didn't meet my expectations, and I was lied about how good the speeds were. I shouldn't be punished by paying 30 days of service!!! Even if another company didn't provide what I wanted, I wouldn't resort going back to them! First and last time ever using CenturyLink! This is what they told me when I wanted to disconnect my service .When cancelling service on any day other than the last day of your billing cycle , all monthly charges, fees , and taxes will apply received in full, and payment for unused services will not be refunded or credited to your account. 1 of the worst businesses I have EVER dealt with!! Nearly impossible to talk to a HUMAN! I haven't been able to get their voicemail to work for 4 MONTHS!! this is for quantum fiber/boulder. we have not had internet in over 24 hours. i get that stuff happens, what i don't get is the lack of information available about when service will be restored, not being able to talk to a human, being transferred to a chat that won't even chat when i try to talk to a human. being told service would be restored at 1 pm yesterday, then hearing nothing until this morning, when first i was told service would be restored at 1 pm, & now 6 pm. do they even know what's going on??!! worst "customer service" ever!!! read more

Horrible customer service. My internet is out, so I chatted with an agent this morning for almost an hour before she opened a repair ticket. I was given a TEN HOUR window for the technician visi. My daughter or I stayed home all day and requested an update about the technician's arrival time several times and were told, "By 5:00.". At 5:00 I received an automated email saying sorry that the technician didn't arrive. Since that time I've been on hold waiting to speak with a human. Absolutely ridiculous! Unbelievable! I got a dunning letter from them and was pretty sure it was a mistake, I had just changed the account from which they were to auto pay. Got tossed into this robotic decision tree that kept clipping off the choices and when I did try to enter information it usually cut me off before I could finish. Got disconnected. tried again. Got a new choice this time--report downed lines or poles. Figured I'd go there if I couldn't get through to a human in current decision tree--a human would have to answer that one! But I didn't need to do something so draconian when I got a human. She actually couldn't help me that much, didn't have access to place to input account numbers. I had her stay online anyway and help me through internet screens. Wasn't all that much help, I;m pretty sure that she had never seen that website or app. The decision tree would not allow me to get to a human but rather kept sending me in circles. Perhaps they have a counter that gets you to a human after so many times around the mulberry bush. My landline is in a place with no cell reception and no competition. I am going to look into the cost of a satellite phone for this area. In the city I left them years ago for bad service and unreliability, have done acceptably with Comcast. Strongly suggest that if you have a choice, choose anyone but CenturyLink. read more

These people and their sister company Quantum Fiber, should be investigated and shut down. I switched from Centurylink which I got 1.5 Mb per second for Internet which you can't do anything with to their sister company Quantum Fiber. First of all they trespass on your property without your permission and lay their wires and extension cords all over your yard and fences and pretend that they're going to leave it there permanently. This is a huge hazard for people with dogs that can bite through these electrical cords and get shocked and even for the people it is a hazard. These wires need to be buried underground. As if that was not enough when I switched over to Quantum, yes, The Internet when it was working was faster. But what good is that when it is extremely unreliable and constantly goes down. The Internet goes down at least twice a month. Can you call them to get a repair technician come to your house and fix your Internet they will not make an appointment for you sometimes for weeks. This is the worst mistake I've ever made to go with this crappy unreliable company. Currently looking for another Internet provider. I would NOT use Century Link/Quantum Fiber for your internet provider! They suck! They came over to convert everything over to Optimum. Then said they will have someone come burry the wires. Well it's been 18 days and nothing. They said they will come over the 16 to locate the wires and nothing. I called to speak to a supervisor and they said they would call back and nothing, then called back to speak to a supervisor and nothing. The lady that talked to me said she will look into it; heard a rooster in the background. She hung up on me. Then I called back and demanded to speak to the supervisor; waited for more than 15mins and then the person they connected me to was a female which also had a rooster in the background (pretty sure this was the same person that hung up on me and not a supervisor) . Said that someone already stopped by my house; btw I have security cameras and no one stopped by. Said it will be buried in a month; hopefully not that long the lady said. I did call this lady out and said are you the same lady that hung up on me and she said no; which I know was a lie. These people are a joke. DO NOT USE THEM as your internet company.; they have crappy customer service and do not follow up on what they said they are going to do. read more

This company has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The 800 number automated response takes you to a dead end or disconnects. The online chat simply told me they could not help and I should use the 800 #. When I finally got a live person, she told me my subscription was only for 8 mbps (even though I pay for 80 mbps and my online account confirms as much). She said my internet was performing as it should since I was getting close to 8mbps and did nothing to help. I told her there is no such thing as a subscription as low as 8 mpbs but she ignored me and refused to help. After multiple attempts via chat session and calls to the 800#, I finally got to a representative who solved the problem. It took two days and at least nine separate attempts. If you work from home (as many of us now do), this is pretty frustrating. If you have an option other than CenturLink, take it. Avoid CenturyLink at all costs. read more

This is my second review of Centurylink, because my service has been THAT bad!! I begrudgingly used Centurylink as the only two options for service in Colorado Springs are that and Xfinity. After an initial installation from hell and spending upwards of six hours of my life attempting to get my billing straightened out (see my other review for full account) I finally had consistent service for approximately 18 months. When my lease expired, I moved approximately two miles away from my old address, to a new apartment, and called to have my service transferred. Here is where the problems began (again.) When I made my appointment for installation at my new address, the agent told me that they could only give me a date and that my appointment would be anywhere in between 8AM and 5PM, but that I could call the day before to find out the technician's schedule and have a better idea of my appointment time. Upon calling, I was told that the technicians don't have the schedule nor would they be able to provide it to me, but that I could call back at 9AM. I thought this was odd given the earlier timeframe of 8-5 given to me, but decided not to cancel my 8AM medical appointment, assuming I would have plenty of time to return home (a less than 15 minute drive) to wait for the technician at 9. At 8:05, the technician calls to let me know he is on his way! This technician was perfectly polite and understanding when I told him about the miscommunication, and I understood that I would have to reschedule my appointment, which I did. Today, April 29th, I waited ALL DAY, from 8 am until now (2:50PM) to ensure I was home when the technician arrived. At 12:26, I received a text saying. The technician was on his way, and would arrive at approximately 12:55. At 1:15, I still hadn't seen the technician, so I called Centurylink. The first person I spoke to (customer service) told me that my old address was still on file, then told me the new one was on file, and was correct, then abruptly transferred the call to someone else without letting me know why. The second person I spoke to (tech support) read off my address and stated an incorrect apartment number. When I corrected him, he then stated that no apartment number was listed at all. I asked several times to be provided the technician (Henry)'s phone number, or for him to contact me. I replied two times to the text message I had received at 12:25, and received the automated response "Thank you for your response. Your reply has been sent to your Technician. Reply with STOP at any time to end messages. Standard message and data rates may apply." The technician made no attempt to contact me or respond in any way. My building only has four apartments, so if he had been anywhere in the vicinity of the correct parking lot, I would have been able to immediately open my front door and direct him to the correct apartment. The tech service agent then transferred me to the cancellation department when I told him that I would not be able to take another full day off of work to wait for instillation. He transferred me to the cancellation department, and I was abruptly hung up on while the agent was pulling up my account information. (Note: this was absolutely not because any angry or abusive words were exchanged. The agent was pulling up my account information, just after I had provided my name and phone number, when the call ended.) No one called me back. I then used the chat feature and expressed that I did not want to call the cancellation department again, because I had just been hung up on. The agent provided me the number to the cancellation department as the solution to my problem. Another entire day of my life has now been wasted by Centurylink, with no solution. This organization has the most disjointed, disorganized, and overall worst customer service I have ever experienced. I am now choosing to live without WiFi at all, because I will not patronize this awful business. Update: they sent someone to my apartment today, May 3rd, with no appointment and no notice. I had already returned my router. Not sure why someone would come by with no appointment and no prior notice, but my apartment was recently broken into and I do not care for unexpected men to knock on my door. It was absolutely useless to send a technician once my router has been returned. Worst customer service ever. read more

Typically poor customer service as expected from most major corporations who rely on overseas customer service. We waited all day for a technician to install internet and the technician never showed up even though customer service said the call had been completed. I was on hold almost an hour and a half. Terrible product of service. Internet has been failing on an hourly basis.. modem keeps crashing and needs to be unplugged multiple times a day. Rarely is my Internet at the 80mbps I'm paying for. It's has been often between 0.01-7.12mbps out of 80mbps service plan. Really wish their were better options in my area. read more

This organization is poorly led. 1) when I had service installed, I was told that I could not get the speed I was promised from the sales team because the dual lines didn't exist at my location. When I called to tell them I was upset at the change, they set up another appointment. So I had to take another day off work to accomplish that. When the tech showed up he said the other tech either made a mistake or wasn't honest with me and the capability did exist in my location. I'm glad he resolved it, but I shouldn't have had to go through that. 2) I had a modem. They charged me to install it and charged me monthly to rent it. I called every month to have it removed. I received confirmation emails and was refunded my money, but every month it showed up on my bill. I don't think it is fun to call them every month, talk to 4 customer service representatives, copy down a confirmation number, receive a promise that it's fully resolved, then it shows up again next month., Technically, the speed and reliability is good. But, man, they need to get their heads out of their butts. read more

This company just wants money and gives horrible service. My modem went down and I made an appointment to have it fixed. They ended up canceling my appointment without telling me so I made another appointment which they again canceled saying the "customer canceled " I explained that I am the customer and proceeded to cancel my service. I get a bill for almost 200 dollars because it was never canceled. I finally taked to someone that wasn't rude " telling me what I could do to myself" and it was explained that I need to get my equipment back and a table would be sent to me which it wasn't. I was trying to find a store near me to return the equipment because I don't trust that they will "receive" it but there are none in my city. The internet itself was absolutely horrible. I had to sit right next to it to ever get any wifi. The guy that installed it put it in the back corner of our kitchen, surrounded by cabinets and metal pans, so the signal didn't even leave the kitchen. When we lost internet connection we called to have someone come out to fix it numerous times and was always told they would send someone out in a few days and I should receive an email or call soon to confirm the day and time. 3 months and no one ever came out and we did not get a call or email. And then when we tried to cancel they spent half an hour trying to convince me to stay. I explained why I was canceling and how we had been out of internet for 3 months and she insisted on sending a tech out right then to fix it. I told her no thank you and to just cancel our service. She got really bitchy and told me she guesses she could do it for me as a favor but there was really nothing wrong with the service or their customer service. I was just a horrible customer and they treated me accordingly. A couple weeks later we received a letter telling us what all to pack up and send back to them. We packed it all up and sent it to them through FedEx like they told us to. That was in early December. Today, almost March, we received a new bill for their Internet. I called and told them that we canceled our Internet so we should not be getting billed anymore. The guy I talked to said we had never been canceled and that we still had Internet with them. I told them know that I canceled in early December and that I sent back all their equipment and got a letter stating to send back all of their equipment. He tried to tell me that the letter I got was to confirm that I wanted to cancel with them. I told him know that I had read it and it had the packing list on it because my Internet has been canceled. After a while of back-and-forth of him telling me that the letter I read was only to help me confirm the cancellation and not A packing list because I have been canceled, he told me he was gonna do me a favor and cancel our Internet for us. Three months after I have already canceled it and sent everything back. If you want peace of mind do not go at this company they are absolutely horrible. read more

What a scam. When I moved 2 years ago, they offered $25 a month for life. Since I liked the idea of DSL, I accepted this even though the max upload speed was 3.5mbps. Well CL never honors their word. Even though i paid a year in advance, They shut me off with 5 months to go. Reason, unpaid balance. I called and told them to fix it, and cancel if they couldn't. The said ok. Turned off again. Unpaid balance. And the new amount is $50 a month for months I already paid. Tmobile has 5G internet for $50 a month. I Went to the Tmobile store, got the router for free, no contract, went home, plugged it in, and it works. I'm getting 100mbps download speed vs 3.5mbps. I'm getting over 25mbps upload. CL was about .6mbps. When I called CL to cancel, they wanted over 300 and didn't want to cancel. I agreed to 100 and they added 3.50 for a convenience fee just to be done with them. I don't owe them anything, but it is worth it to be done. I have been with Century Link for 13 years. At 25 a month I would have stayed. Thank you Century Link for being dishonest; because you are, I now have better internet without you. read more

It has been over a week and I still can't get connected. it is impossible to reach anyone in customer service on the phone. Every number takes you through a 15 automated list and got me no where. Hard to believe CenturyLink can stay in business given the disregard for customers. I have had multiple problems trying to get landline working and arranging fix. My landline phone has been cutting in and out with static on my end of the call. I try to make calls and get recording cannot make call at this time. Spent 45 min. trying to troubleshoot with CenturyLink. Said they did not know if it was on their end or mine. Technician charge to come out is $99 if the problem is found to be on my end. CenturyLink said technician could not come out for 9 days, with a window of 8-5 on the day scheduled. This is definitely NOT customer service and would fall into neglect given I do not have operable land line for 9 days. I am senior and depend on phone. read more

I have/had Quantum Fiber. I returned the wifi nodes well over a month ago via QR code at UPS. They received them on the 11th of July. I call TWO seperate goddam times because i hadn't got confirmation of them being return, once providing the tracking number. Today, the 14th of August they charged me $322.44. Abso-fucking-lutely preposterous. I should be compensated not just reimbursed as I tried 2 times to make sure this wouldn't happen, and a third phone call to try and get it refunded.​ read more

If I could give these guys zero it wouldn't explain my frustration. After two months I canceled my service as Comcast was honestly better. They scheduled an appointment to come and pick up the equipment and what I expected to fix the hole they drilled in my wall. No one showed up and after 2 hours on the phone being transferred from department to department I hung up. I plan on filing a claim against them to take the stupid cable they installed and fix the hole they put in my house. While I had the service it would go in and out on almost a daily basis.
