I haven't been year in years, and they revamped it! It's amazing now. I love the new setup and the new chairs and how clean it is.

I purchased the ticket online . It was seamless going in. The food was great and the candy options were great. The theater was clean and comfortable.

I had a lovely experience watching a movie at this theater last night. The seat was comfortable, but I think it could've reclined way more to the back instead of doing what seemed like just halfway reclining. I initially didn't like the tray attached to each seat, but the tray turned out to be very convenient, especially if you had snacks with you. Friendly staff and parking was easy - no complaints in these areas.

What can I say?!?! $6 doesn't buy you much but on Tuesdays you can watch new releases on the big screen, in your reserved seat, and reclining/heated chair. Snack bar line moved well and bathrooms were decent and stocked. For a fairly crowded summer night.... Good job!

Seats are not very comfortable. But it's always crowded so they must be doing right - great popcorn especially the Kettle Korn!

Have they improved parking lot security yet? let me know, I would like to come but if they have not, i will go elsewhere. thx

It is still the same. There is security but they hide on the job. Highly recommend going either out towards Napa or Concord. If you want to come to Vallejo, just make sure nothing is visible in your car and lock it.

It was very intimate there, with not much of a reception area. Still, they did have snacks available for purchase. Strangely, these snacks were allowed into the theater for consumption at one's seat. I found this both welcomed and off as I was hungry but had nowhere to set my plate and cup during the performance. It was definitely a first world problem, as they say. The bathrooms didn't seem to have heat, which was just a minor annoyance. As far as the show, the company put on a great show with the limited stage space they had available. Some performers were standouts. It was an overall great time. I hope people continue to support this theater, which makes art accessible to more people.

The stage is small and there is virtually no backstage - just a hallway that connects the right and left wings. Downstairs there is a backstage-like area, where performers can change, put on make-up, wait for their scene, etc. It's not the cleanest space, and is very dusty/moldy because the theatre is a very old building. I think it's a historical house, as the waiting area and lobby look like old-time fancy parlors. The acoustics are pretty decent, and there are individual tiered seats in audience. A good choice if you're looking for a small theatre with lots of retro charm. Not good for any shows with a large cast.

The ones I saw on the shelves were from the 1500-1800s. There were also more modern books but those you can see anywhere. I had heard they had some lithographs by Henry Evans. Evans was an artist and book printer from the San Francisco Bay are. When I inquired, they brought out his portfolios for me to view. He is noted for his botanical prints although he did do other drawings. The McCune has one of the larger collections of Henry Evans works in the world. They are putting them online in case anyone is interested. Visit http://www.mccunecollection.org to see some of the lithographs online. They also have an 1852 working printing press and a linotype machine in the collection. The linotype is a huge machine which immediately attracts your interest. I was looking at the engravings from some of the books in the collection. There was a collection of 4 volumes of Don Quixote with detailed engravings showing his journey in Spain. This was a 1780 set made in Spain. There was also a 4 volume set of Schiller's works with German engravings on every few pages. There was too much to see in the limited time I was there but I expect to visit again when I have a chance. The collection is in the JFK Library at 505 Santa Clara in Vallejo, CA 94590. It is only a short walk from the Vallejo ferry terminal that connects San Francisco to Vallejo. The ferry trip is a nice ride on the San Francisco Bay.

This is a hands on collection containing many rare books for study and appreciation. They have a leaf from the Gutenberg Bible (ca. 1450), the Kelmscott Chaucer, Baskerville Bible, Byrne's Euclid, and 6 books printed before 1501. The amazing part is that they will bring these books out for you to sit down and read, if you so desire. The collection contains hundreds of books by famous publishers and printers. There is also a superb collection of Henry Evans botanical prints and other artists. There is an 1852 Albion Press for printing documents. The collection is worth seeing for its historical value, as well as the many items of unique nature in the collection. It is especially strong in Book Club of California items, Grabhorn Press, Nonesuch Press, Doves Press and Ashendene Press. There are also a number of items by William Morris of the Kelmscott Press. There are latin editions that span the range from the 15th to the 19th Century. The only problem is that this collection is usually only open on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 2-4 pm. However, they do have a website: http://www.mccunecollection.org. At this website you can see a list and some pictures of many of the items in the collection and can email them to set up an appointment at times when they would not normally be open. Since this is a free service, and the collection is run by volunteers, it is good to take advance of this option. I have been through the collection a number of times and always discover something that I have not noticed before. I spent a few hours there looking at the early history of Solano County and Vallejo. Another time I looked at the illustrations in the collection of early Latin books that are on the shelves. They also brought out the Gutenberg Bible leaf so that I could see it. I usually check the website to see what additional items they have posted. A great place if you have a few hours to spare. It is in downtown Vallejo, a short walk from the ferry terminal and a few blocks from the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum.

My husband and I went back and forth multiple times about whether or…read morenot to post a review, but we ultimately decided that we wish we had known what our experience would be like prior to booking Jessica as our DJ. We got married in the summer of 2023 and below is an account of the things we noticed. When we reached out to Jessica following the wedding and reception, we initially received a response which included a rebuttal to each of our observations, but when we followed up with two more emails about how we were open to rectifying the situation, there was no response. 1. The incorrect song was played for the bridal processional. We are willing to take partial credit for this mistake, as Jessica has a clause in her contract which states that all music must be available on iTunes. While we mistakenly assumed that the version of our song was on iTunes, we don't understand why Jessica didn't tell us beforehand that she had trouble finding the version. We would have sent an mp3 to her right away. Instead, she played a different version of the song and as a result, the part that we told her to fade into did not line up with our version and the fade in was awkward. The mishap started things off differently than we had expected. It impacted me (bride) on a personal level because of the emotional aspect of finding the "perfect" processional song. 2. Our first dance song was cut in half unexpectedly. We double checked that the questionnaire we filled out for her indicated that we wanted it to fade out at 1:52. Instead, the song faded about a minute in. We were very confused (as guests could see on our faces) and were disappointed because we had practiced a lot for our dance. She responded by stating that we gave her a "look" to express that we had stage fright and she faded out early. Neither I nor my husband looked at her during our dance. We also never discussed a "look" with Jessica, so we were even more perplexed when she brought that up. We were smiling, looking at one another, and having a great time until the confusion came. 3. Much of the music from our playlist(s) was not played. As in, almost none of the music played was from our playlist(s). We indicated specific "vibes" that we wanted in our music and that wasn't followed. We don't remember hearing most of the music we indicated for cocktail hour or dinner and neither did our guests. We think we heard a couple of songs for open dancing, but just a few. She responded by stating that we might be surprised about songs we simply missed because we were away at photos and whatnot. We asked her to send us a list or screenshot of the playlist to confirm, but did not receive a response. 4. We spoke with her over the phone about her playing the role of "emcee" in addition to DJing. We hoped that meant she would take initiative to check in with us about making announcements, hyping the crowd, etc. From our perspective, she did not present with the energy level we were hoping to see. This may have been a personal preference on our part, but her presence as a DJ was more on the passive side as compared to every other wedding we have attended. Ultimately, we would have gone in a different direction if we could go back. We are not the type to leave a less than stellar review for a service, but we feel that it's important to have the things that we regretted laid out as objectively as possible.

The Lighthouse

"There is a light that shines special for you and me..." - The Light by Common…read more ~ THE AMBIANCE ~ Are we in the Bay or are we in Hawaii? Newport Beach? Is this even Vallejo? Karlo and I toured two other venues before visiting the Lighthouse well over a year ago and immediately fell in love with the lush greenery, the palm trees, and the view overlooking the water. The Lighthouse felt like a destination even though it's in the Bay Area. It truly is a hidden gem and we got a lot of questions from our guests as to how we found this place. As a kid, I would often go to Suisun for the weekends with my Lola (Grandma) to visit family. The Carquinez bridge was pretty much the halfway point to getting home or to my Aunt's place - Crossing the Bridge and seeing the C&H Sugar factory served as a marker and indicator for me that I was almost home or almost there. At the venue, there is a pathway that leads to a lookout point where you'll see both the bridge and the sugar factory, and it was then we knew that we were going to get married here. ~ THE VENUE ~ The venue has two lawn areas which naturally lend themselves to a ceremony or cocktail hour space. It's absolutely beautiful. We had our ceremony on the East Lawn (smaller lawn area to the left when facing the Lighthouse from the parking lot). It has a downward slope which made for an amphitheater like setting. We used the green palms as a backdrop for our ceremony and to be honest - it's beautiful as is even without decor. The bigger lawn area is where we had our Cocktail hour and it was the perfect setting and large enough to host 92 guests. We wanted an all in one space where we could have the ceremony and reception at one place, and the Lighthouse offered that. The indoor banquet hall fit our guest count and the windows all around gave a spectacular view to the marina and the sun set. The only downside is the four pillars that hold up the Lighthouse as it does block the view in certain angles especially when my husband and I had our first dance; however, guests got out of their seats to have a closer look. The kitchen also isn't a full kitchen so be aware of this. There's no stove to cook on or to keep food warm, and there is no ice machine. This one didn't really affect us as we had paella catered and everything was done outside on the paella pans and burners. The biggest selling point is the inn upstairs which accommodates up to 8 guests. Our brothers have younger children and we knew that this would be most convenient for them as the kids nap/are in need of a diaper change/need an area to pump. We had two guests who needed to pump and it was nice to be able to offer a comfortable place for them to do so in privacy without having to take up a bathroom stall in the hall. The inn is well equipped, the beds were comfortable, and the decor is tasteful and we loved how history was incorporated in the small touches. It really made for beautiful getting ready photos and was such a pleasure to wake up to a view like that. ~ THE PEOPLE ~ As if the venue is not enough, the people behind the Lighthouse are truly the heart of it all. Crystal, Maggie and Alma like a what lighthouse does, guided us throughout the planning process, checked-in and made sure we were okay throughout the evening. They were so kind through it all and even made sure that my elderly parents were comfortable as mobility is an issue. We booked our vendors based on two things: kindness & connection, and we will never take for granted the hospitality they have offered us both leading up to our Wedding day and on the day-of. Thank you for everything! All in all, if you're looking for a one-of-a-kind, intimate venue, the Lighthouse is it. My husband and I are already looking forward to planning another event here in the near future!

I cannot stress enough how great of an experience the planning process and day of was for my husband and I. The beautiful location and event space created a magical backdrop for all of our guests. Many of whom commented on how they loved the location with unbeatable views. Throughout the planning process , we worked with Maggie and her attention to detail and bright personality made the process fun and exciting. Maggie was always reachable by email, text, and call. She and Alma were there the day of the wedding to make sure everything went as planned . Working with them was so easy and they truly made our day even more special. We had a Thursday wedding and the accommodations to the upstairs living space was a perfect photo op spot for the "getting ready" photos , but also allowed our small family to have an intimate dinner the night before to mentally prepare. We found such marvelous vendors on their preferred list. And could not have been happier with the services provided. All that being said, I highly recommend working with the lighthouse to create a highly personalized experience for you and your guests for your next upcoming occasion.
