This review is long overdue. My husband and I went back and forth multiple times about whether or not to post a review, but we ultimately decided that we wish we had known what our experience would be like prior to booking Jessica as our DJ. We got married in the summer of 2023 and below is an account of the things we noticed. When we reached out to Jessica following the wedding and reception, we initially received a response which included a rebuttal to each of our observations, but when we followed up with two more emails about how we were open to rectifying the situation, there was no response. 1. The incorrect song was played for the bridal processional. We are willing to take partial credit for this mistake, as Jessica has a clause in her contract which states that all music must be available on iTunes. While we mistakenly assumed that the version of our song was on iTunes, we don't understand why Jessica didn't tell us beforehand that she had trouble finding the version. We would have sent an mp3 to her right away. Instead, she played a different version of the song and as a result, the part that we told her to fade into did not line up with our version and the fade in was awkward. The mishap started things off differently than we had expected. It impacted me (bride) on a personal level because of the emotional aspect of finding the "perfect" processional song. 2. Our first dance song was cut in half unexpectedly. We double checked that the questionnaire we filled out for her indicated that we wanted it to fade out at 1:52. Instead, the song faded about a minute in. We were very confused (as guests could see on our faces) and were disappointed because we had practiced a lot for our dance. She responded by stating that we gave her a "look" to express that we had stage fright and she faded out early. Neither I nor my husband looked at her during our dance. We also never discussed a "look" with Jessica, so we were even more perplexed when she brought that up. We were smiling, looking at one another, and having a great time until the confusion came. 3. Much of the music from our playlist(s) was not played. As in, almost none of the music played was from our playlist(s). We indicated specific "vibes" that we wanted in our music and that wasn't followed. We don't remember hearing most of the music we indicated for cocktail hour or dinner and neither did our guests. We think we heard a couple of songs for open dancing, but just a few. She responded by stating that we might be surprised about songs we simply missed because we were away at photos and whatnot. We asked her to send us a list or screenshot of the playlist to confirm, but did not receive a response. 4. We spoke with her over the phone about her playing the role of "emcee" in addition to DJing. We hoped that meant she would take initiative to check in with us about making announcements, hyping the crowd, etc. From our perspective, she did not present with the energy level we were hoping to see. This may have been a personal preference on our part, but her presence as a DJ was more on the passive side as compared to every other wedding we have attended. Ultimately, we would have gone in a different direction if we could go back. We are not the type to leave a less than stellar review for a service, but we feel that it's important to have the things that we regretted laid out as objectively as possible. read more

She ably emceed during the speeches and provided us with high-tech, wireless microphones. Her inspired performance after dinner kept the dance floor thundering throughout the night. Researching and finding a DJ was personally the most difficult task in our wedding planning process. We had probably talked to 3-4 different people and each didn't fit for some reason. I was almost ready to settle, and then we found Jessica! Her warmth and friendliness was so tangible on our first call, and I immediately knew she would be the perfect emcee and DJ! She was able to pick up on our musical tastes from the questionnaire and even played songs throughout the night that we forgot to put on there! Everything went flawlessly - she kept us and our guests dancing all night (literally - some folks were on the dancefloor from start to end of the night). You may think Jessica is too good to be true, but she's not! She DJ-ed at our wedding at Foreign Cinema and did an incredible job. She is not overly cheesy and is so skilled at knowing when to fade out a song, control the mood, and have everything play seamlessly. I loved her song choices! I also love how laid back Jessica is! Some DJs we spoke to made a big show (and asked for extra $$$) about researching certain music categories, hunting down certain songs, bringing uplights etc. These were all a breeze for Jessica, which was so refreshing. One note: due to the crazy wedding season, we weren't able to check in with Jessica regarding music choices and details until a week before our wedding. However, don't let that scare you -- Jessica has everything under control and is a true seasoned professional. She will show up on time, prepared, and do an amazing job! read more

Wow, Jessica was an amazing DJ, and an even more wonderful person!! When I began looking to hire a DJ, I was planning to have a smaller backyard wedding. Then, we were able to expand to our venue about a month (!) before the wedding. Jessica was incredible through the whole process and just so flexible and understanding and easy-going! I contacted Jessica through Thumbtack and she called me and we discussed my needs, budget, and hopes for the wedding. Then, Jessica sent over a contract and details of the event-all absolutely perfect. She was super accommodating with all requests and changes, and helped keep us on track during the wedding. She was fun, a great MC, and thoughtful and flexible. I really could not have asked for a better DJ! read more

Jessica DJ'd our wedding this past weekend and she did an AMAZING job. Everyone had an wonderful time and she went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly and that everyone had a good time. She worked with us to customize our dancefloor playlist, played our requested songs pre-ceremony, assisted with microphones for not only our officiants but also helped with setup for the live music performances that was played by the bride and groom. She was so professional, helpful, fun, and easy to work with- also great and prompt with communication. Seriously, she nailed it. How does Jessica not have a billion 5 star reviews on here. This is an injustice, an absolute travesty. Jessica was the DJ for my wedding ceremony and reception. She was great in helping us plan the music before the wedding and worked with us to ensure that our friend, who was playing they keyboard, had equipment that was compatible with hers. She showed up early the day of and got everything ready independently. And then, the party started. Early on, we gave her a small list of random 90s hip hop, reggaeton, and EDM songs that we like and she really crafted the perfect playlist around it. The dance floor was ROCKING the whole night! I can't say enough good things about Jessica, so I'll just stop here and say that if I ever have to hire a DJ for an event, the first person I would turn to will be Jessica! read more

Jessica is seriously an amazing DJ. I hired her for a big 30th birthday bash and she will be the number one DJ I recommend to anyone in the bay area. She had the best energy, was easy to get in touch with, and incorporated ALL my special requests including emcee trivia games, host a costume contest, and playing requested music throughout the night. She even dressed to match the theme of the party. Her prices were reasonable too! Some DJs make the experience all about them and they only do what they think is right or best. They don't listen to their client. Jessica, however, gave me all sorts of awesome ideas but also respected my opinion and my wishes. Jessica DJ'd our wedding at Stern Grove in SF, and was truly a highlight of our day. We hired her pretty last minute 6 weeks before our wedding, as we were planning on doing music ourselves, and were feeling a little uncertain about giving up musical control on our big day. However, we cannot express how thankful we are that we decided to go with her! Jessica has amazing, positive, fun energy, while still maintaining professionalism, and I immediately felt comfortable with her even though I didn't get the chance to meet her until my wedding day! We did share playlists that we had made, and although she didn't have long to prepare our mix, it was a perfect mix of the music we wanted, and our dance floor was packed all night. We had so many guests commenting on how great our DJ was, and several guests have asked us for her information for their future weddings! I would highly recommend Jessica for any DJ needs.
