I've been coming here for a long time and couldn't think of a reason not to give it five stars. It's very convenient because it's close. The prices for a small garden center are very good. The service is always great. They have a good variety of flowers and plants....i buy mums in the fall so they have a huge variety. During the fall they have hay bales and corn stalks which are also reasonably priced. They have plenty of pumpkins and yard decorations as well. Bringing items to your car is easy because they provide wagons to cart your purchases around in as you shop. They also provide rope if you need to tie something to the roof of your truck. The plants I have bought always last the fall and are in good shape. There is always help available if you need. Great nursery. read more

This garden center is now one of the better nurseries in Essex County. So many of the nurseries in the area just stock the old, unexciting standbys - forsythia, rhododendrons, azaleas, etc. , but Center Ridge has many new, unfamiliar, and more exotic species of plants. Shrubs of Japanese origin are particularly interesting to me - I see new things to buy every year. Shrub quality seems high and prices are reasonable. read more

I love this place! I drive a distance to buy here from Newark because, honestly something that costs 18 dollars at other stores might cost 19 here. but the savings comes from the quality and health of the plants! there really is a difference and I will still drive 20 minuets to shop here. I used to go to Plochs but since they closed center ridge has been my go to. I have always had a good experience so never a need for customer service to step in. I recently though had an issue with a plant I purchased. Once I got it home I realized it had crown rot. I called them and sadly they would do nothing about it. I've spent a ton of money there the past few years so this was very disappointing. So I cautiously recommend this place but beware. If you have any issues don't expect them to stand by their plants. read more

I've driven past this little garden shop for years & years, yet today was the first time I've ever stopped here! How is this possible?! It's on the corner of a block surrounded by houses, but don't let that fool you: the lot is deceptively HUGE. There are so many plants, and they're maintained very nicely. I didn't see anyone looking sickly, or droopy, or even wilting in the abnormally hot & humid June weather. In fact, there was a small army of men going around & watering everyone to combat the heat. Nice! There's a great variety of annuals & shady ground-cover plants, and a large section of my favorites: climbing plants! The standouts I saw were (but were not limited to): plumeria (trees & bushes), various sizes (and prices) of wisteria, climbing jasmine, roses, hydrangeas, & more than enough varieties of vegetables to start your own organic juice stand. Flowering bushes, filler plants, small trees, & tropical ferns -- they've got almost everything covered at Centre Ridge. My only teensy complaint is that some of the plants were not well-labeled ... we had to ask someone to identify a little tree -- who had to ask someone else -- who knew the name, but didn't know the cost -- who then had to yell across the yard to find out the price. A simple label would've been sufficient! Ah well. Now that I know what they have, I'll definitely be back! read more

This is a really nice nursery. Their selection of plants is varied and in great condition. I feel like the prices are cheaper than a box store or even nearby nurseries. They are having their august sale and the selection is still nice. If I leave empty handed, I'm usually coming back soon to make a purchase. The hard part is buying just what you need and not an entire garden which you can't plant in one day. Take your time and know that you can come back. read more

The young lady who is at the register is always occupied by her phone. She is very selective on whom she wants to ask if they need any help. She's definitely terrible at math. Instead of using her hands to move things around to see how many of an exact you have, she assumes and charges extra. Not the first time this has happened to me at this business. Great prices and also great service! There's a guy that manages the shrubs and trees in the back that is so knowledgeable and helpful (sorry I don't know his name to give him the proper credit!). He always knows exactly the type of plant I'm looking for and if they don't have it gives me great recommendations for a replacement. You can't get that kind of service at the big box stores. I've bought many plants from here and they thrive, which means they are all well cared for in the nursery. The selection is constantly changing so I recommend going back or calling periodically to see if the specific plant you're looking for has come in. Highly recommend. read more

Love this garden center. Have been coming for years and always find what I'm looking for. Whether it's the perfect plants for home or the cemetery, perfect soil for growing vegetables in my yard, or supplies to take the best care for my yard, the staff always helps with selecting the perfect product. Even when I had a problem with my azaleas, they have a book which lists every problem, whether it's an insect, a disease, a rodent or the weather, they have a solution. Great staff, good prices, awesome selection. Soon fall will be here and they have fall decorations and a wonderful selection of fall plants and pumpkins, gourds and corn stalks. I even plant Arctic Pansies that withstand the Winter and bloom again in the Spring. read more

Probably my favorite local garden center for picking up a few annuals or vegetable plants. The staff is always really helpful and it's almost comical how frequently they ask if you need any help. For a beginner gardener like me, this is so welcome! They have a pretty basic selection of annuals, a broader selection of vegetables (go here to find the elusive Rutgers Ramapo Tomato!) and a small selection of shrubs & perennials. If you are going here to re-landscape your backyard, I wouldn't recommend it, as their prices can be high on shrubs -- which adds up. They don't have any interior plans, and I don't think it's the best place to pick up pots, garden tools or soil... for that I still prefer either Plochs or Cedar Grove garden center. read more

Always a nice selection of really beautiful plants. I buy from them seasonally (hardy mums in the Fall, hanging baskets and decorative potted plants in the Spring) and their products are always healthy and last through out the season. They also have a good selection of home and garden products too like potting soil, seeds and plant food. Very helpful staff, always nice and friendly. Super convenient too. Their parking lot accommodates a few cars but there is street parking and the little red wagons they provide make it easy to get around. read more
