We had a bunch of clothes that had been in storage and needed to be washed. We dropped off several bags of them and paid about £150 for all of the bags to be washed by the employee in the laundromat. However, the employee took the money and did not wash any of the clothes - just switched them into different bags! The photo on this website of the clothes neatly folded in a plastic bag is not indicative of the service that we received. I suspect that that photo is fake and planted by the owner, because that is not the service that we received. We were given our unwashed clothes (again, that we paid about £150 for!) wrinkled, ripped, and tossed into a bunch of black garbage bags! When we brought them home, most were still unwashed, wrinkled, and still smelled of perfume, our dog, etc. In fact, the clothes were in even worse shape than they had been before we'd brought them in, because the employee stuffed them carelessly into the big black bags, damaging a few of the items. On top of that, the employee was extremely rude. Avoid this laundromat like the plague! There are several other laundromats on the same road, and they are all much friendlier, and will actually wash your clothes for you instead of damaging your clothes and stealing your money! read more

Great place to go to if you have to do laundry while traveling. Central Wash is in a great neighborhood. There are restaurants around the area if you want to kill time. Instructions for washing are clear. There's a coin changing machine, soap and fabric conditioner dispenser. The lady attendant is very patient and helpful. I do believe they accept cards/ Apple Pay for their dry cleaning services. We spent $1 for the soap, $1 for the conditioner, $5 for the small load and $1 for the dryer. All in all it took less than an hour, approximately 40 mins. read more

Clean (how ironic) laundry. VERY HELPFUL woman working there to show you the ropes - even though I discovered everything is clearly marked on the walls or machines. Laundry soap is £1, softener is optional for an additional £1. The LARGE capacity machines are 7 for a wash, small capacity machines are £4. They will weigh your load to help you decide which to use. Drying is £1 for 10 minutes. We dried a large load in 30 minutes. A small load in 20 minutes. The place is a little small and they only negative is there's only one folding table - otherwise it's 9/10. I would recommend this place. It's a 10 minute walk from the Cumberland Hotel. read more

I hate hotel laundry - not only is it ridiculously expensive (and laundry comes out of my per diem...), but IME the detergent that hotels use often smells funky and hotels have a tendency to put nasty sticker labels on the clothes for identification - and those stickers have damaged some of my clothes in the past. So a good laundromat is a real benefit and Central Wash definitely fits the bill. Self-wash cost is £4 for the small washer and £6 for the big washer, £1 for powder detergent (and honestly enough comes out of the machine per £1 to do 2 loads), and £1 per 20 mins for the gigantic dryers in the back. I really like the dryers here as they seem to push a ton of air, so the drying is quick even on the low heat settings. There is a coin change machine provided, although they ask that only the attendant use it. I usually just do laundry myself but I did once make use of their wash and fold service, which was £8 for what was probably about one load's worth of clothes - so honestly, not much premium for labor. Pickup time was quoted as two hours. There is basically only one small table in the place in addition to some benches, so if you need to fold clothes after, I'd recommend bringing a suitcase or bag that you can put on the floor and fold clothes there just in case someone is already using the table. Also, in case you need repairs/alterations, I've found the Crawford Tailors shop next door to be quick, inexpensive, and reliable. read more

Today is the Good Friday and it is opened until 6 PM unless I am wrong. One of the employee , a women, very helpful to answer all my questions. She provides you with some changes and show you in case you would have some doubt on how to use the machine. Pretty cheap (5£ one wash for small machines and 1£ for one drying cycle, 1£ as well for washing soap and 1£ for conditioner). Clean inside , enough space to sit it and I noticed some shirts and iron so I assume they also provide some ironing service in case people may need (but I didn't ask for details). We used the wash service which was reasonably priced and allowed us to spend the day out and about snd come back in the evening to clean clothes! 30 pounds for 5 days worth of clothes for 4 people. First time I used this launderette it was amazing, the young lady couldn't have been more helpful. However, today, 18/10/21, it was a totally different matter. It used to be 6kg was a small wash and 8kg was large. Today, I was told my 4kg was was now large and was charged £20! When I said that I'd seen an online company who are offering 8kg as small, she just shrugged her shoulder. I had a meeting I couldn't rearrange, so had to pay the money. Packing for any trip, let alone London, is tedious. Easy solution is pack light and have Central Wash do your laundry! £12 for 3.5 kg and few hours later, you got plenty of clean laundry! Hotels charge that much for one shirt and pants! Or save a few £s if you are a DIY! read more

You can do your own laundry, or for a few extra pounds, you can have the very friendly staff do it and hold on to your bundle until you return. Two sizes of washing machines, per-load soap for sale (though if you have a lot of laundry to do, you might pick up a box of soap at the nearby markets), and large capacity dryers. The only negative is that there isn't a lot of counter space for folding - but you can make do with the benches and the tops of the washing machines. Needed to get laundry done. Arrived early on a bank day and waited for the girl to open. She was nice and efficient. Got my load of laundry done quickly and without issue. 6 GBP for a large washer and 1 GBP per 10 minutes of drying. Go early if you do not want to wait. I arrived at 7.08pm to do some washing. The website says the laundrette is open until 8.00pm. Yet.... as I was loading in my clothes, a very rude member of staff walked up to me and bellowed three words only - 'You cannot wash'. When I asked why, she replied 'It says last wash seven o'clock in the window' and then off she walked! I was gob smacked! Ok... I did not see the sign, as I was going on what it says on the website, but really... it would be nice to a) be talked to in civil English; and b) just for the member of staff to use their initiative slightly, realise it is a genuine mistake, maybe allow someone to wash their clothes swiftly by asking them to use the 'quick wash selection', so that they will be out before 8pm - which is the closing time? Awful service and unfortunately good service is what a good business is built on! I'll never set foot in the establishment again, and as someone who works for the British government, I'll be advising colleagues who work in the embassies near by to think about their position too.... and explain the reason why, to see how they feel about the service I received. If only there was a bit more humanity in the world, and people thought for second how they would feel if they were in the same position, with a broken washing machine and baby clothes to wash. read more
