The herbs are also indetified and properties given, which I find incredibly helpful. The herbs all looked healthy and I brought home a bunch to use in my cooking at home. I also bought a few clay pots to transplant them into. They also have potting soil, dirt, birdseed and bird houses, and annual and perennial flowers and outdoor plants. They also sell fresh eggs ( I was told they sell out quick). Prices are on the higher end, but I think much better quality and choice then at box stores. They also have a nice little gift area which was lovely. Parking lot and wagons for use to load up all you want to purchase.

Gilbertie's has lots of great pots and cool items in the gift shop, as well as seeds, fertilizers, and much more. I love how the friendly cats act like they own the place. It's a gorgeous property, and sometimes I go there just to walk around and enjoy the beauty and peace. The winter farmers' market is a wonderful place to visit for a change of scenery during the colder months.

While Oliver's is a geared toward high-end gardeners, I find their prices to be about the same -- sometimes better -- than those of other garden centers in Connecticut. The knowledgeable staff are friendly and helpful. Oliver's is also community-minded. In my neighborhood, we are working to transform a vacant, overgrown, ugly lot into a nature preserve and bird sanctuary. Oliver's has been a true partner in this endeavor, providing native tress and shrubs that are well-adapted to the particulars of the space and lots of good advice about care, placement, etc.

They're affordable, have plants and products that I've been looking for, and even have ones that I've never seen before. I stopped in on Valentine's Day and left with two gorgeous, unique bouquets around $20 each and a healthy succulent with a pot for $11. (Got one bouquet for my boss and one for my mother, both loved them!) The staff was great and the selection was huge considering it was the day of! I picked up a few pre made bouquets from here before that were about $10 and were also great quality for the price. Today I stopped in on my way home just to see what they had, I was greeted kindly by a man who was out on the floor. I was drawn straight to the gorgeous succulents on the middle table, ended up picking up two potted succulents, and grabbed two small plants by the register right before I checked out. The woman who rung me up was very nice and they packaged up my plants very carefully and securely so nothing fell over or broke while I walked home with them. It was such a steal to get all 4 of these plants for only $36, I'll most definitely be coming back next week to check the selection and recommend this shop for anyone in the Bloomfield/Montclair/Glen Ridge area looking for some affordable, unique plants and flowers! Edit: I'm adding to this review because of another amazing experience I had here. I ordered a flower bouquet from a different florist and paid $45 for what looked like an empty, $20 bouquet and had it delivered a day late. I came here to the brookside garden center to ask for help on how to fill up the bouquet and make it look better.
