0 Stars, Placed an order for a Christmas present. Didn't learn that the item was out of stock until after I contacted them to make sure order went through as I had not received an email. The web site stated it would be delivered by Dec 16th. If I had not contacted them would have been waiting for days. But they charged my credit card right away. Now have to wait for refund and no Christmas present. Maybe the website should state out of stock currently to avoid this hassle. Thank you for wrecking my wife's Christmas gift. Customer care center didn't seem to care. Offered no replacement a well. I work in the Auto Industry. If we did that we are scoundrels. Thank you for being worse than the auto industry. I was searching for heating lamp bulbs that are shatter-proof and stumbled on Central Restaurant website and ordered a pair - The order was fast and received them on time. Once I opened the box I notice that the bulbs were the wrong color, as instructed on the website - I called customer service and explained to them the issue. Just like that, they sent me out the correct bulbs. Customer Service was impeccable. and for sure will order from them again. read more

Be careful with how delivery is supposed to be handled. I ordered a walk in cooler and it arrived without any notice on the back of a 53' semi trailer without any way to get it from the trailer to the ground. The driver expected me to not only have a way to lift a 12' long pallet containing the cooler parts from the very front of a long trailer, but also to be able to levitate it to the ground along with whatever lifted it. When I emailed Central Restaurant, I was told that (quoting directly) "Yes it is common for you to unload it. However, he should bring it to the edge to unload. You should never have to get in the truck. It is work but that's how it's done." I contacted the freight company about them rescheduling delivery and having the cooler placed on the back of the trailer so that unloading could be done, they said there is no way they will load it there and no way for the driver to move it to the back. I ended up renting a U-Haul trailer and driving 20 miles to the freight terminal and loading it there. So much for free "delivery". read more

I ordered a table and chair set from Central Restaurant Products on August 28, 2021, and I have yet to receive the chairs. Only the table arrived in about two weeks, with large gashes in the top (see pics). Central Restaurant initially confirmed that it had accidentally shipped the chairs to an incorrect address in another state, despite sending the table to our correct address. But since this initial confirmation, we have struggled to have them correct this mistake for over two months. No one calls back, chats end with empty promises that they will "make this right" and follow up with no result, and all the while they have had our $2,000 and we've only received a damaged table. Today, after giving them two additional weeks to sort out their order tracking and logistical issues concerning the lost chairs, my simple chat inquiry asking for an update ended with a single line, all caps, that the lost order was "SHIPPING TODAY," then the chat was closed. No tracking number provided, no apology that our order was delayed for two months, and no acknowledgment that we've had to make a dozen calls, emails, and chat inquiries for simple updates on our long-paid-for order. Just plain rudeness and indifference after we've been understanding throughout the process. We were hopeful to use Central Restaurant for our upcoming furniture needs, but after this experience, I cannot justify subjecting myself to such indifference and incompetence again. I am the operations manager of a resort in the Mountains of Northern California. I called to order a refrigerator, after ours stopped running. The website said it would ship that day as long as I ordered within a 2 hour time zone. That was last Friday. Should have been here Saturday. It's still not here on Tuesday. This company uses totally deceptive practices when it comes to what is in stock and how long it will take to get to you. I sent an e mail asking why it wasn't here as promised and the sales rep, Zach replied, "How do I know, I don't drive the trucks." Really? Thats the way this company operates? My brother-in-law wanted a large pepper mill, and the usual kitchen stores - Williams-Sonoma, Sur la Table - only had the regular size ones. After a quick Google search for restaurant supply stores in Indianapolis, this place popped up. And what a hidden gem! You'd never notice it driving down Georgetown road, it's in an office building - but it's definitely worth the visit. The man at the counter was very pleasant - I told him what I was looking for, he showed me a few options in their catalog, I picked the one I wanted, he ordered it from the warehouse (which is just behind the tiny little showroom there) and in 5 minutes I had my 17 inch walnut pepper mill - for $27! I brought a catalog home for future reference - I likely will be back again! They have an incredible selection of kitchen supplies, some of which only restaurants would use (think 8 dozen soup bowls in one package), but many things are priced right for regular consumers and cooking enthusiasts. read more

I've had a restaurant for 20 years and have purchased many refrigeration units over the years. I actually still own and use most of them. This is a review on their Central Restaurant branded equipment. I purchased a CR commercial refrigerator two years ago. I was told they are actually made for them by a major company but if they do they are seconds. This thing has given me nothing but grief since about a month in and warranty? Forget about it. The hoops your guy will have to jump through just to get "certified by California" to do the work is crazy. You'll end up just paying out of pocket as I have. Right now it's just sitting in the back room totally useless. Pay the extra $50 and get a real commercial refrigerator. I sure wish I had. read more

I really like this place. They sell retail and wholesale even though they're tucked back in an industrial village. They also have a little showroom and when I go to pick up something I ordered, I always find a few extras in the showroom. The service is always good and all I've dealt with are very knowledgeable. When I leaf thru their catalog I find that prices are a little high for some things that I've purchased at other retail stores,--but they also have affordable items and most of all quality items you can't just get everywhere. Like with everything, you need to shop around and compare prices. I've purchased 2 German and 1 Japanese knives along with a great knife sharpener that I love! My son is a sous chef and I bought some high end knives for his Christmas. Try them before wasting $ at some place like William & Sonoma. (although I love to wander around there at Christmas just for the atmosphere) You don't have to work in a restaurant to be a great home chef! read more

I placed an order and received an order confirmation email. A couple of weeks later, I received an email asking me to review my product, which had not arrived. I contacted the company and they said the order was never placed because the item was out of stock. No one notified me that the order had been cancelled. So I waited three weeks, the estimated delivery time, for a product that was never going to come. Now the same table set is out of stock everywhere. I would've paid a bit more for a delivered product if they had notified me that it wasn't available. Very poor business practice. read more

Really bad experience. Ordered a patio table and chairs in June, got an email a week later saying it's on backorder until August. I decided to wait, but that was a mistake. Several days after the backorder date, still no news. I called them, the answer was - it will be shipped next Wednesday. Ok, I'll wait. Wednesday comes and goes - no emails, no calls. Called them back on Friday - turns out now it's backordered until October. So in summary, they did not update about the order status at all, continually lied about the date, and I just wish I never ordered anything from this company. I own my first restaurant and the only piece of "New" equipment I purchased was a range that they told me had never been used but refurbished- After 6 months one oven went out and I called for repair because it was under warranty this was 8 weeks ago- 2 days ago the other oven quits and now they say even though it's under warranty- They can't get the parts to repair it. I asked simply for a replacement but instead they told me the only option was for me to purchase one for 3 times as much!!!!??? What? I want this one fixed or a replacement if you can't fix it? I purchased a freezer that was delivered on my parking lot without the wheels attached. I had bought 2 other refrigerators from them and they had wheels. I was the only person there to accept it. When I called I was told to refuse it. 4 weeks later I received my refund, with them keeping 30%. I was told that because this was never mentioned they would cover it. Now I'm told it's my problem that I couldn't get it in my building. If they had told me wheels were not attached I wouldn't have bought it. read more

Mid-January I ordered two spatulas. Within a week I received one spatula. I called twice during the next weeks and was told the second spatula was on back order and that I would receive it shortly. More than a month later I am being told that the spatula is no longer being produced. I will receive a credit in 5 days. I was on the fence if I should do business with these people - and well I should have listened to my instincts. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever had with a vendor. They didn't even make an attempt to try to provide any decent service once the order was received. I understand I signed the order, but at the same time, at least try to act like you care. Instead I got "oh well too bad, we'll fix it but it's gonna cost you." They have lost our business permanently. In case you're wondering, that means the 100 stores we have opening over the next year will not spend a dime here. Don't order any Hobart parts from Central Restaurant equipment. I ordered 3 legacy parts and only 1 showed up a week later. It is over 2 weeks to get parts that Hobart stocks in Troy, OH! Central Restaurant's customer service is horrible. They told me twice everything has delivered (I ordered 3 items and then sent me 1 of the 3 that they stocked and then argued to me that all 3 had delivered!). As a retailer I understand the power good customer service. Central Restaurant Products exceeded even my expectations! I placed a smaller order of some barstools for my home. When received it was immediately noticed the color was way off from what I was expecting. I placed a call and even took the blame for not doing enough homework on the stain color. CRP went the extra mile to get color samples from the vendor and re-ship the order at no additional charge to me. WOW! James was super cool about helping me get my mess straightened out. Internet sales can be tricky, and getting screwed over can be the norm. CRP did me right! Thanks for the great service. To the folks in these reviews that say they can be a little pricier, l found the pricing comparable to other vendors on the net, but the after sales service was well worth ANY price differential.
