Definitely get the signature special drink whatever it is. This was some kind of margarita.

Great place with amazing drinks. Has our own darty and met som great Penn Staters! We sat at the bar that was open to the street on the most beautiful day. The bar tenders were so attentive and have serious talent.

Well, this place was great. The Caesar salad was amazing as an appetizer and huge. Enough for two people the blackened salmon was fantastic.

Fun, open-air, bar restaurant to eat and get good drinks. Restaurant is adorn in pop culture icons. Menu has changed recently from some of the popular items before.

Impeccable seating at the bar right on the street is only met in quality by the food, service, and stellar drinks at this establishment right in the heart of downtown State College. This location should be a destination when you're in town, with reasonable prices and lots of seasonal cocktails and a nice, curated list of brews. I was impressed with hospitality and speed of food and bar service, and any need I had was met. The Butternut Squash Risotto I had was one of the best dishes I've ever had, and it paired nicely with the exquisite Manhattan, prepared with a smile. I only regret not discovering this place sooner in my time here near Penn State. They've got a nice, succinct list of specialities they serve, and if what I had was any indication, the other apps and entrees are worth looking forward to.

In town and wanted a sit down place that was somewhat low key so ended up here on a Friday night. Even though it's a bar it wasn't busy but maybe that's because the college was still on break. Overall, it was a really good meal, with surprising menu options, and decent drinks, but kind of spoiled by crappy service. Started off with the lamb lollipops. They really melted in our mouths and we were super happy with the choice. For entrees we got the elk medallions and the fall gnocchi. The elk was amazing and there was a fair amount of it on the plate. We potentially could have split it. I liked the side it came with too (creamed celery root with potatoes and bacon on top). The gnocchi would have been better if it was actually in a cream sauce, but the veggies that were part of it were super good. Drinks wise we had the dark and stormy, which although a classic cocktail was made really well. Also had the seasonal G&T which was super citrusy and light.

This is my go-to spot when I'm in town! The old fashioneds are always on point and they have a good variety of items on their food menu. I've tried everything from the cheesesteak & fries to seasonal risotto to fried oysters & salad! All were great and it will continue to be my go-to spot.

This place is really good. They put good thought into their menu and the lamb lollipop has flavors that burst in your mouth. I had the lobster Mac and cheese, it's very buttery probably very high calories. My friend had the duck and it was very good as well.

The menu was great and service was quick, then we ordered the burrata as an appetizer. Mentioned the nut allergy in our group and the server had said that they can't guarantee anything in the kitchen is safe to eat although some menu items didn't have nuts on them. The menu also says this, and maybe it's unfair to give this spot a four but in my experience restaurants shouldn't be mixing items in their dishes and there are pretty good safe serve/allergy friendly practices out there to follow and I've never had any issues. This is the first time I got a response at an American grill that they can't serve anything. Maybe it's just new to me and they're being extra cautious which is not wrong, and this place came highly recommended so I'm sure it's earned more stars, but would love to hear opinions on allergies and places that don't have "safe" serving spaces for nut allergies. Even the creamery had a nut free station

The service was spot on, the food was cooked perfectly, the burgers were very tasty, the criss-cut sweet potato fries with hot honey and vinegar salt were fantastic, and the shakes were delicious. That first visit was memorable enough that we were excited to come back. This time, we waited about 50 minutes at around 5:30PM on a Thursday before graduation weekend. Honestly, that part was understandable, and we were prepared for a wait. We had a nice booth for five and ordered table fries, a few shakes, and five burgers. The fries were still excellent, and the shakes were great. Unfortunately, the burgers and service did not live up to the previous visit. My burger tasted more like stewed meat than seared beef, almost as if it had been sitting for a while. It was overcooked and under-seasoned. Our server was pleasant enough, but several sides, condiments, and modifiers were forgotten. Waters were never refilled, the table was not cleared, and a salad that had been misordered was not removed from the bill. I understand it was a busy night, but at around $40 per person for food at a burger place, I expected more consistency. I'll give The Field another try the next time I'm in town because our first experience was so good, but this visit was a letdown.

The broth had rich flavor and the right amount of spice, not enough to burn your mouth, but warm it up and tingle your lips. The beef was tender and cooked to perfection. It hit the spot on a chilly winter night. If you find yourself in the gap and looking for spot to grab a good hearty bite to eat and drink, the Red Horse is your spot!

Fantastic she is. That said, the table service has been frustrating on multiple visits. Getting a simple refill can take 20-30 minutes, which shouldn't be the case for something that takes less than a minute. It's happened often enough that it feels like a pattern rather than a one-time issue. The main server, is friendly at first, but tends to forget requests--especially refills--and we've had to ask multiple times before getting one. It makes the overall experience feel disorganized and, at times, a bit frustrating. Even if he walks to the table, and we ask, he'll get to another table and then forget my table. Makes NO SENSE. Oh and quick to shut the tab down too and send a bill pronto! Interestingly, service at the bar is noticeably better, which makes the inconsistency stand out even more. At the time writing this review, the entire floor here isn't even that busy. So I don't understand what is so hard to refresh a patron. I really want to like this place because the food and some of the staff are great, but the lack of consistent service makes it hard to fully enjoy the experience. Good service goes a long way in bringing customers back. We've been coming here for almost half a year. I'll be heading somewhere else.
