If you want to lose your teeth this is the place. Terrible dentist offering unnecessary treatment which can have awful results. This office should be shut down. They suggested I get implants, it was going to run well above 15,000. I sought treatment with another dentist, and I did not need implants. I have all my teeth and my treatment has worked. They are very good at covering their tracks, they rush you into signing documents, lots of signatures. This review follows my second time coming to this dental office. The first time was a lot more extensive, full cleaning, x-rays, exam, etc. I wasn't a fan of the hygienist because she was kind of aggressive on my gums, but I really liked Dr. Garry Levingart. He was really nice and explained my results and the reasons for his recommendations to me better than any dentist I've gone to before. After the first visit I would have said a solid 4 stars, but today I felt it was more like 3.5. I liked today's hygienist more; a teeth cleaning is never a pleasurable experience but it wasn't bad today either. The thing I didn't like was that I was urged to get another set of x-rays, just 6 months after my last visit. My whole life dentists have always told me only once a year for x-rays, so this struck me as kind of odd. I have a history of more cranial x-rays than most people, so I'm a little extra cautious about this sort of thing. It's not like I've ever had dental health issues either, so I got the sense that they just wanted to bill my insurance for an extra procedure. This place is a TOTAL SCAM!!! New to the city and needed a dental cleaning. Found Central Park Dentists through my insurance. I arrived and they said that they couldn't find my appointment but they would "take care of me". Simple cleaning. They wanted to upcharge me for a few items that insurance wouldn't cover. I declined. Next thing is that I receive a bill over $1,200 of items they didn't even do - including the items the wanted to upcharge me while I was still sitting in the chair that I declined. SCAMMERS!!! AND... They put the whole billing into someone else's name, not the person that was covered by insurance. I have a really, really hard time believing that any of the reviews for this place are true. Do. Not. Go. Here. I feel bad that I have to write this review, but I feel so taken advantage of that I want to protect other people from going here. Finding a great dentist you trust and who does good work is hard, so please don't waste your time going here. This dental office is a scam. The first time going in Dr. Bela Levingart told me I needed 12 cavities filled, 2 onlays, 3 crowns, AND a root canal (sounds unreal, I know). I thought that was incredibly strange since I had never had any major work done besides basic fillings. I had them email me the X-rays and photos and I sent it to my previous amazing dentist who I saw for 15 years (in California). He told me that he saw NO NEED FOR ANY TREATMENT at all and urged me to find a new dentist in NY. Her entire treatment plan was unnecessary, outrageous and over the top, and was pushy about getting it all done. Luckily I used my gut feeling and didn't get any work done by her, but I feel taken advantage of anyway. Clearly, she saw the insurance I had and figured she could get away with charging them since I, and most of us, don't know how to read dental x-rays. A highly expensive debacle. Three teeth crowned with root canals (root work carried out in another office), all completely paid out of my own pocket (and a credit card accompanied with heavy interest--no insurance). By all accounts incompetent work. Two of the crowned teeth rotted out in about three years because the edges of the crowns were never properly sealed--edges had gaps. I simply didn't know any better, and it was too late and in another country when the damage really set in. I know the work was careless, because the third crown they did had to be done by a completely different process, whereby the crown was shaped in-house by computer. That went very well. This was done, because they did not listen to the date I said I needed all the work completed by; and so the initial (third) custom-made crown had not returned from the lab in time. Well, turned out that error was the silver lining amid the disservices. I got one good crown out of the deal. The surface texture of the third crown was different but the edges fit snugly. Still, one outta three ain't good. In baseball, maybe, but not dentistry. After failure, bringing up the case of crowns 1&2, the reply was, basically, "nothing lasts forever." (Except maybe that third crown? which is still going pretty well...) It would have been useless to make a claim, and it didn't seem as if they were going to admit the work was bad. I should have thoroughly researched what to expect, so I do bear some of the responsibility. And they were pleasant enough, and it was simply not in me at that time to get upset. But don't be fooled by Central Park West addresses. Anyone can be disinterested in the quality of their own work and ultimate well-being of their patients. Nowadays, they continue to send advertisements to me, which is probably why I felt moved to send this review after so much time has passed. Epilogue: I plan to get the 2 implanted replacement molars just as soon as I decide whether I'll want to buy a new car or whether I want one day to chew on the left side of my mouth again. Central Park Dentists have been treating me for years. Everyone from the receptionist, Ina, to the hygienists to Drs. Bela and Garry Levingart have always treated me with the utmost consideration and care. I recently had an emergency and they offered me the opportunity to come right into the office. When it became apparent that I needed root canal surgery, they set up an immediate appointment with an endodontist. It was an ordeal, but Central Park Dentists continually expressed concern for my well being and comfort. The office is immaculate, all the latest high tech equipment is in use, and everyone on the staff, especially Dr. Bela Levingart, are considerate and patient, ensuring that I know everything that is taking place, and what I can expect. I didn't have a good feeling from the start, I was lied to by the office manager, she told me twice I wasn't covered for extractions, it would have cost me $2600, Dr L also said I needed a removable denture and bone graft, office manager once again said my insurance doesn't cover that... well I made a very easy call to my insurance co and guess what?? The worst dentist office I have ever been to. Went there out of convenience to work and found out that was a big mistake. They offered me random antibiotic gum injections with no proven benefit and told me I needed all my fillings replaced. I had to go back after a filling they placed came out. To summarize what Dr. Bella Levingart said in court was that I had poor oral hygiene ,and that was the reason for the gaping hole in my gumline. She called the surgery "A SUCCESS" , and she took no responsibility in finding a way to come up with a resolution. Her "go to "move was to blame me for having poor oral hygiene 'and to label this procedure a successful experience .I could not believe what I was hearing in court, and that she actually thought a hole in a gumline was a success!!!! This was such a delusional statement ,and I was stunned to say the least There was no apology, and no accepting responsibility, and there was no care in the world by Dr. Bela Levingart of how I suffered , and It truly made me sick to my stomach to feel this way. Then, I get this treatment sheet that they said I signed, which has an electronic signature of mine that I used for an ATM signature, which was copied onto an agreement which I have never seen before. It was the shadiest document I have ever seen. While we are in litigation, I am receiving letters from their insurance companies that addresses a period of time when she may not have been covered for insurance while she was practicing on me. Scary!!!! My next option was to see a periodontist and get associated with another general dentist. Since then, I have gotten a lot more knowledgeable about what good dentistry is about. I have had phenomenal experiences with periodontist and dentists who have called me up after surgeries to see how I was doing. After seeing how these other professionals take their time and care with me, I got to see how neglected I was by Central Park Dentist. My experience was that they did not have any care in the world for me, and that they were looking out to make as much money in as little time. It was all about up selling ,and a lack of care for me as a patient. I felt as if they deviated from standard medical practices and instead of referring me to a periodontist, they saw dollars ahead of anything else, and tried to capitalize on it. The end result was my misfortune. I look at the reviews with their old name of Levingart and Levingart, and I can't help but to relate sympathetically with the patients that have experienced what I have. I see Barbara from Los Angeles ,who has complained about the same thing and the lack of care that she got. I look at Irving who says that it was unprofessional and that they take advantage of you. I agree wholeheartedly with this. They push these antibiotic shots on you that are unnecessary when a lot of other dentist prescribe them only if it's necessary. I see the review that Sharon has about the fact that not only was it an unprofessional experience for her , but that Dr. Bela Levingart didn't even look at her previous dental records. There are countless of us patients who have fallen for the Arestin scam. Had she looked at my charts, then hopefully she would've had the decency to recommend or refer me to a periodontist. The uncleanliness that Barrak pointed out is accurate. The hundred dollar antibiotic scam that Ben points out is 100% accurate. There are countless of us as patients who have fallen for the Arestin scam. As Salvatore B points out "go here and your smile will turn upside down ", and he could not have been more accurate. OK I'm updating my earlier review. I had two crowns put in and the work is perfect. I really like Dr. Gary. He tells you what he needs to do and how he will be doing the work then gets it done. Due to my hectic work and school schedule I was looking for a dentist with flexible hours. I stumbled upon CPW Dentistry as a dental office with a wide variety of hours. I was shocked that they were open on a Sunday and worked out the details with my insurance quickly to fit me into a same day appointment. This has been by far the best and most thorough dentist care I have ever received. The entire staff from Sienna at the front desk to the hygienist Diane and her assistant Tori provided what felt like first class customer service. Dr. Ilya was also very nice, knowledgeable and complimented my teeth, which is always nice to hear from your dentist. The office is impeccable, modern and has what appears to be the latest dental equipment. I was truly impressed and left there feeling like I had a brand new set of teeth thanks to Diane. Scam artists! Watch Out! Save yourself!!!! Went in for just 2 fillings to be done and the dentist only x-rayed me for some reason and told me to make another appointment!. She told me to come back next week-??- after just taking 2 x-rays! She seemed not into doing any work at that time- and she then said she would spend quality time on the 2 fillings and a cleaning next appointment. Seemed very strange to not get worked on- but i booked yet another appointment. i just wanted the 2 fillings done. I walked out and really could not figure out why she did no work at all on me at all. Seemed like she was not in the mood to work. but I bet they billed for doing nothing much. Rescheduled for a week later as they suggested and when I returned, they suddenly decided to not do what they said after the Mom took control of the exam. And then it got very weird.They tried to scam me into refilling -like 10 or more fillings I had! And they did not want to do my filling on the problem tooth that they said they would just the week before. I had just been to a dentist only a month ago--so it was bizarre! They refused to do the filling with the composite they had told me they would use the week before. The Mom was in charge -and looked like she decided to just bankroll everything instead with more expensive procedures! Root canals... Pulled wisdom tooth... I see many many similar reviews now that i am looking on sites. These guys should have their rights to work on folks taken away. Got a cleaning somehow through all this craziness. But then I got very upset when things started to sink in- and I realized what kind of scam was going on. I literally bolted out of the office full if anesthesia and nothing done except a million X-rays and a cleaning! I so wanted my two fillings repaired as they promised the week before. Very traumatic experience. Who knows what they do with your insurance and bills. I am not going to let them rip me off. Very unprofessional and evil. Dr. Levingart is one of the most caring and compassionate dentists I have encountered. I had an accident which cracked my tooth and led to an infection and Dr. Levingart made what could have been a terrifying experience extremely easy and as painless as possible. She explained every procedure and the reasoning behind it very thoroughly and made sure I was comfortable throughout. This is the worst dentist I have ever been to or even heard of. Starting with the front desk, I have never met someone so rude. When I was trying to ask about different options, she belittled me. She also argued with me about dental advice, which was completely contradictory to what the the dentist had told me. Since leaving this dentist I have had to get additional work done because according to the dentists I have since seen, "the Central Park Dentists had done work that was completely unnecessary and making those areas more fragile." Additionally, I had gotten a simple cavity that has since turned into a major annoyance. It left a huge gap between teeth which constantly gets food stuck in. When I asked about it, the dentist said I could get a cap, which would cost me a great deal of money and leave me with a covering over my real tooth! I do not trust this dentist and there was not one person to make me feel comfortable here. read more
