The office looked nice and clean. The procedure was pain free and it didn't take too long.

One of my teeth has a tiny crack in 2019 and a filling kept it together nicely, but recently I had pain and was told it was time for the root canal. This would be my first. My dentist told me, unequivocally, that I should see Dr. Bui and she called his office to arrange an appointment as soon as possible. I have some major surgeries coming up and I need my teeth to be healthy for intubation, to eliminate infection risk, etc. At 9am the next morning I was in his office. Rayza was at the front desk. Such a sweet, professional, incredibly kind and patient woman. Of course I was terrified, and she put me at ease right away. Thank you Rayza! I was shown to the procedure room and met Nichelle and Dr Bui. Nichelle wiped the tears of fear I had running down my cheek before they got started working on me. I had no idea what it would feel like, and my gosh I was scared. Quickly I discovered there would be no barbaric pain, no pain at all. In fact, Dr Bui took exceptional care in administering numbing gel, and allowing it time to do it's thing, before numbing the entire area by injection, which didn't hurt at all. He even made sure that I was numb enough by placing something cold on the tooth to check. I did feel something and he gave me a numbing injection at the roof of my mouth to take care of that. The point is, he makes sure you are comfortable and won't experience any pain. I felt the movement of the files in my mouth and was blown away by how patient Dr. Bui was with each root in the tooth. There are usually three roots, but with his 3D Panoramic Scanner he discovered a 4th root in this one tooth, and went in to complete that one too. Thorough. And the precision? Outstanding hands. I can only imagine all the training and years it took to get as good at this as he is. Thank you Dr. Bui. One last Big Thank you to Nichelle. May the world show you the kindness you showed me. Scheduled an emergency root canal - Dr. Bui was able to get me in right away. He's self-sufficient & knowledgeable with insurance/medical billing. He is able to do everything on his own which I was very impressed with. Most general practices do not have the imaging system to detect nerve damage when you previously had a crown placement over the affected area - but he was able to see the nerve damage immediately and everything got fixed within no time. Post-procedure meds were received and no pain at all. Thanks Dr. Bui - saved my tooth and the excruciating pain I was dealing with for weeks. read more

Dr. Bui is conscientious and went above and beyond to address the infection of my root canal. I am sharing my review so that if anyone else is terrified and needs to know if they are in the hands of someone they can trust, THIS is the endodontist for you. I hope I never need another root canal, but if I do he is the only person I will go to. It feels a little weird to give such a high rating for what is normally a terrible experience; I mean, who likes getting a root canal?! But Dr. Bui was THE BEST! Very professional, super competent. And he came in on a Saturday of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, just to see me because I was in excruciating pain that developed over the holiday and was so bad I couldn't wait until Monday. I have had many root canals (unfortunately) and I must say this was top-notch. Unfortunately the tooth could not be saved, but that was on me and my sad tooth, not on Dr. Bui. He kindly charged me a much lower fee since he wasn't able to complete the work, and referred me to an oral surgeon for extraction. I was very anxious about this root canal as my dentist told me I would need a specialist. When I arrived at Dr. Bui's practice, I was warmly greeted by his staff and was also impressed by the modern interior. I sat in the chair and was numbed. The procedure took about an hour but went very smoothly. I didn't feel a thing. I was in a great deal of pain after the procedure once the nova cane wore off but Dr. Bui called in some pain meds that allowed me to rest and get some sleep. A very positive experience. I called this office desperate when another specialist lied about taking my insurance and tried to charge me more than $1,000 out of pocket. The woman I spoke to was upfront and gave me an accurate quote before I booked my appointment so there were no surprises. She even got me in the following day. I hope I don't need another root canal in my life, however, if I did need one, I would not hesitate to call Dr. Bui. read more

Two weeks ago, I went to Dr. Bui for a 2nd opinion, he listened to my complaints and checked my teeth carefully, then suggested me to take a 3D image, from the image, he was suspicious whether my broken jaw was fixed. By my request, he helped me to call an oral surgeon and made an appointment to see the surgeon. Yes, my broken jaw was never fixed. I need another surgery. I always felt something was wrong with my teeth, but other dentists kept telling me it would take time to heel. Dr. Bui listens and he has advanced technologies to see problems that many other dental office not able to. I went to Dr. Bui for 2 root canals last week, PAINLESS. I came in the morning for a consultation for a freeze test and got charge out of pocket $275 just for him to tell me my tooth was active same consultation I had with Emily at Jacquie smiles. I work in a radiology department at the #1 rank hospital in NYC and I will never use racist slurs or statements when checking for my patients! How disgusted I am to come across to that human. I was referred to Dr Bui by my long time dentist, Dr. Joseph Haggar, who I come up to NYC to see. He referred me to Dr. Bui to have a root canal and other complicated work done. I have had other root canals done elsewhere, but my dentist said Dr. Bui was the top of the line for what I needed done and after the two visits that were required to complete the work, I have to agree. To begin with, what I was braced for (pain) was painless. I didn't feel his injections at all, and he was meticulous in his work as soft music played. His assistant, Nichelle was excellent, caring and wonderfully calming. His front desk staff is welcoming and his interior offices are new age and gleaming white. Deceiving. Staff was rude. Poor customer service. Would not recommend. We had just moved to the city and had gotten dental insurance but did not have our final approval. However the dental insurance said that they would backdate our coverage (which they did). We went to Dr. Bui because he was in-network for an elective dental procedure. We had been waiting to have dental insurance to have this procedure. We told him the insurance situation and he assured us that after our dental insurance was approved we could file the claim then. Perfect. No reason to wait then? Nope. What he did not tell us is that he would charge us a much higher rate than he would otherwise be allowed to under the terms if our insurance had been active. This rate was $1000 higher. So while our insurance covered 80% of the contract rate, it covered 0% of his additional $1000 charge. Obviously if we had known that the rates were different, we would have waited an extra few days until our insurance was active. He made an additional $1000 off of us by not putting patients first. We went to his office to discuss, but he said that it was not his problem. Just his profit. read more

This was the second time that I needed an emergency root canal and I was so grateful that I had the past experience, comfort, and expertise of Dr. Young Bui to do my root canal. It was Memorial Day weekend, I was having a delicious Grom ice cream, and the sudden pain was excruciating. I knew right away I needed a root canal. The following morning I sent a text to Dr. Young Bui and he arranged for me to come in early over that holiday weekend. He's very thorough and I felt very safe under his care. I'm a 63-year-old guy who has had a lot of trouble with his teeth. Both the heritage of a vegetarians in my background produced week teeth - and neglect caused me to require a root canal. I saw Dr Bui twice this week for a re-treatment of a root canal 5 years ago that wasn't done properly - by another dentist I will add! Anyway I was petrified because I remembered what my last root canal was like and was terrified of repeating this process again. HOWEVER! Dr Bui made the process totally pain free and as comfortable as you can be during this procedure. Even the numbing injections did not hurt. The root canal itself I felt absolutely nothing and it was less uncomfortable than a visit to the hygienist in my opinion! Dr Bui was very friendly and very helpful with any follow up questions I had - e.g. I had a lot of pain due to my infection before I had my treatment and he took the time to prescribe the right pain meds for me and advised on next steps and healing process. I was back in work after the procedure and am absolutely fine. Couldn't recommend him enough and will 100% be back if I ever need another root canal. read more

I was referred to Dr Bui by my dentist when I needed a root canal. I had never had and imagined it to be very unpleasant and painful. Dr Bui is phenomenal. I was in and out in less than an hour a half and to be perfectly honest experienced less discomfort than during a routine cleaning. Later that day there was a mild to moderate aching sensation in the area but nothing that a couple of Advil couldn't take care of. Worst Dentist, very unprofessional. He tried to numb me and I told him from the beginning that the numbing takes longer in my system for some reason, and he acknowledged it and told me it was ok, after he injected me, he didn't wait not even 15 minutes and then told me he wouldn't have enough time to do it and he sent me home with half my face numb without any work done. And on top of that he TRIED to charge me for that. read more

So I just recently moved to the city from LA and was looking for specialists in addition to the list of ones my current dentist gave me. Found a few on yelp, and called around. When I got off the phone with Dr. Bui's office's receptionist, I immediately felt like I could trust him and his staff. You know when you get that feeling? I've had 3 root canals performed by my previous endodontist - one time he did a poor poor job. He forgot to put a crown on one of them! Needless to say, had to switch and definitely had to make sure I found someone who knew what he was doing. During my first appointment, Dr. Bui spent time explaining what he recommended we do, listened to any complaints and concerns I had, and even cracked a few jokes to lighten up the atmosphere. Dr. Bui is the da Vinci of Endodontics! I am experiencing the worst dental problems in my life and had a very recent root canal that was awful. Needless to say, I refused to go to the same specialist when I was told I had to get another root canal. However, I was referred to Dr. Bui by my current dentist. The good dentist is accommodating when you are in pain and need an evaluation. He tells you what he is doing, answers all your questions (I always have at least 10) ; knows what he is doing (no eye paralysis!!), uses the correct anesthesia, and gets the job done. And he is funny to boot. And did I mention, the staff is terrific. For Manhattan, his prices are reasonable and not as exorbitant as some other other NY dentists. read more

I went to Dr. Bui for a second opinion on a 3D scan I had done with another endodontist a few days earlier. Dr. Bui refused to look at the 3D scan I brought, even though I asked him multiple times. He spent only a couple of minutes with me and was quick to get me out of the exam room. When I asked him if he would speak to my dentist about my case, he said no. I was sent to Dr Bui by my regular dentist of 30+ years for a root canal, as it is Dr Bui area of expertise. Dr Bui was the worst dental experience I've ever had. I felt like I was in a bad movie from the '70s. He was arrogant, condescending and rude. There are some other unflattering adjectives I'd employ as well, but I'm trying to keep it professional here. My basic questions received a 2-3 word response, if at all. One of his responses was LITERALLY a snort. He worked on me as if I was an inanimate object instead if a person. When I reacted to his brutish technique with gagging, choking and eventually became unable to breathe- he reacted with annoyance. Told me I was going to damage my tooth! Am I holding the drill? Zero empathy. Never "are you alright? Or need a break?" It was astounding. I actually considered leaving. I would never recommend Dr Bui, unless you are a masochist (with a particular penchant for dental torture). Clearly there are many unresolved underlying issues that account for his behavior, Gawd! read more

Over the course of the past year, I've needed four root canals. After Dr Bui did my first root canal, I knew I would only go back to him if I ever needed another one. Each of my root canals with him has been a very positive, and pain-free experience. And I have the misfortune to have long, calcified canals, which makes the procedure longer, and more challenging for the endodontist. Can't say enough good things about Dr Bui and his team. Dr Bui answered my cry for help at 7 am on a Saturday morning during the holidays. A botched root canal had failed late on a Friday night causing unbearable blinding pain. I wrote to him in the middle of the night. He saw me at 8 am and by that same night I had a new root canal and was on antibiotics for the infection. Two other dentists have since seen the x-rays of my tooth and each have marveled at his work. He is in a class of his own! My regular dentist sent me to Dr. Bui last week for an emergency root canal on a Friday before a holiday weekend. First of all, huge thanks to Dr. Bui and his wonderful team for keeping their office open an extra 2 hours on a FRIDAY BEFORE A HOLIDAY WEEKEND just to see me and take care of my painful 2nd molar (the infamous Tooth #18). Second of all, I really appreciate Dr. Bui's careful, painless work. I had no pain at all in the chair and haven't had anything more than an Advil could handle in the 4 days since. I would absolutely go back to Dr. Bui if I ever needed a root canal again, which of course I hope I never do. He is one of the best practitioners of any art that I hope to never see again, which is why I think it is important to review him on Yelp as he doesn't get many repeat visitors as long as he is doing his job right! read more

Now I can confirm all the brouhaha (great excitement) regarding Dr. Young Bui! He's awesome!!!! I read the online reviews about him and decided to give him a try. I could not have been more pleased. I had pain on the upper left side of my teeth anything cold that I drank hurt like the dickens. I also couldn't chew any food on that side too. It was very painful. I met him on 9/22/15 for and evaluation that day he scheduled me to come in the next morning 9/23/15 to do a root canal. I can't remember the last time I felt at ease in any dentist chair as much as I did with Dr. Bui. He is very professional, personable, thoughtful and funny. He explains the procedure to you step by step (hand holding). He's gentle and very considerate. I told him I was very afraid to feel any pain. He didn't lecture me. He just numbed me up good! His staff Michelle/Martha were very warm, professional and personable as well. Very clean and state of the art facility. He was also very quick. I had no pain at all. I was actually humming and tapping my fingers to the music. I believe it was soft rock. I went back to work within hour. A few hours later he followed up with a call and asked me how I was doing. I couldn't believe it. Because not many doctors take the time out to personally call you him or her self. Anyhow, he is really good and anyone who's in pain should come to this man! read more

I went to see Dr. Bui on a recommendation of my dentist. The whole experience was fantastic from beginning to end. When I called to make an appointment, the voice on the other end was cheerful and friendly. She alleviated my apprehension by answering all my questions and concerns regarding the visit. When I came in for the treatment, I was greeted by Martha, the person behind the friendly voice. She gave me a tablet to fill out my medical information which was pretty cool. The office was clean and new looking. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. I did not have to wait long to see Dr. Bui. He came in and introduced himself and asked me about the problem that brought me in. He listened to my concerns and explained to me what a root canal was and what he was going to be doing.
