I had a great experience at EOI for a same day consultation. Dr. Dayani was empathetic, knowledgeable, and instilled confidence that this was the appropriate treatment plan at the time. The receptionist was also very friendly and helpful on the phone while making the same day appointment. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star review is that I did wait a little while in the dental chair and also had to request lead protection during the X-rays which I feel should have been automatic. Dentist Nima Dayani My crown fell out when I was in California, a Wednesday. It looked undamaged. I tried to cement it back in. Called my dentist on Friday, not working Fridays, but urgent appts available with the numbers. I called one, they said they couldn't do it, the second number said to come in Monday. This was Nima Dayani. I told him i was taking Biaxin, because I didn't have my amoxicillin with me. Also told him I had an early morning flight abroad on Thursday. I paid $5,000 upfront for the entire job as requested. He looked at the crown and said he would try to cement it in. When the assistant brought in the little dish of cement, he said that's way too much and he just used a tiny amount and the crown fell out less than 4 hours later. I called him, he said come in next day (Tuesday) which I did. I was there from 10:30 to 7 pm with numerous lengthy breaks, he told me not to leave the office. He did a root canal which he said he would try not to do (just remove the slight decay on top). On Wednesday I came in at 12. He took my crown away and never gave it back. He prepared a temporary crown and showed it to me. He said he had to prepare the tooth for the crown. He said he would then do the permanent crown in his own lab on the premises. Lots of drilling, pain etc. He asked me if I had seen Marathon Man. I said of course. He asked me if i felt like that there. I was so shocked.. He then said the crown he made was not suitable and he would have to redo it, so we would take a 4 hour break, 3-7. I went out, had dinner and came back at 7. He was talking to someone in the corridor. At 7:30 he came in and I was cross. I said you said to come back at 7. He seemed confused and said isn't it 7? I said no, its 7:30. He said he had been unable to do another crown. At that point I was furious, I said, I told you from the beginning that i had an early flight on Thursday and needed to pack. I said just put in the temporary and I'll leave. He said the temporary was ruined when he made the permanent.He then began to berate me about the fact that I was not taking the right pills (Biaxin) and my surgeon would not be happy. I asked him why he hadn't given me amoxicillin. He sent in a prescription then which was waiting for me when I got home. I had a temporary put in in Bogota by a wonderful dentist my friends had. When I got home I had my regular dentist make a permanent crown. He got in touch with Dayani and got $2,000 back from him for the crown. I called the office several times and asked if they had sent in my claim to insurance. They kept repeating that they had and that it was the provider's fault. But Cigna said they had received nothing. I noticed that on the claim form Dayani's office sent me to show what they had sent in, said "pay Endodontics of NY". I put at the bottom "Please pay subscriber" and faxed it to Cigna on March 1. The claim came up right away. I called Dayani's office to tell them. Next day I saw they had sent in their claim form asking that Endodontics of NY be paid. They sent in another claim on March 8th. In the end both their claims were denied and mine was paid. read more

One night. Few weeks ago, I started feeling excruciating pain in my teeth that radiated to my face and ear. The pain level increased dramatically towards 11pm, and only drinking ice cold water would alleviate it for no more then 20-30 seconds. Pain level was at 9/10, and I was looking for immediate help. I left voicemails with a few dentists that claimed to have emergency availability, but only one got back to me at 2:30am - Dr. Dayani. He listened to the issue and assured me they would accept me first thing in the morning for an emergency root canal. He did not disappoint. After a night of no sleep, at 9:30am I went through the procedure, and an hour later it was done, with the pain at a manageable level and improving by the day. I was referred to Dr. Dayani by a family friend's dentist. The consult and root canal procedure were scheduled back to back, and I was happy with how the procedure went. He's a great doctor and he did an awesome job at keeping me pain-free the whole time. My tooth had been in extreme pain from cold liquids for a few months, and I was glad to go to him to get things straightened out. My only complaint was that the procedure was very expensive. I am a recent college graduate working and living in NYC, and my family's dental plan that I'm on only covers about half the cost. So I wish the office had told me up front what the cost was going to be like so I could have maybe worked out a lower cost or payment plan option. read more

5 years after writing my original glowing review for Dr. Dayani, I found myself in need of his services yet again. My primary dentist was keeping an eye on an old root canal that he knew would one day need to be redone. Sure enough, my latest check up came with the news that the time was upon us. If I didn't act soon, I would risk some serious pain and discomfort. I pulled up my review to refresh myself on Dayani, and was surprised to see that Yelp threw a disclaimer at me saying that he was engaging in first amendment violating practices. This was a shock, because I remembered having nothing but an amazing experience with the multitude of root canals I needed retreated.* Not letting that deter me, I booked my appointment and went int to get the work done. Now on the other side of the retreatment, I can say that my 5 star glowing review still stands. Dr. Dayani is incredible. Never did I feel any pain, nor anything more than mild annoyance at having all manners of dental tools shoved inside a tooth. From arrival to finish, everything was detailed to me (procedure, costs, etc) and I received follow up calls the next day to check in on how I was feeling. I never once felt pressured into giving any sort of positive review, as the Yelp disclaimer seems to suggest. I know I have one more tooth that is being looked at, and if the time comes to get it re-done, I will come back to Dayani for the work, without a doubt. *You're probably saying, "multitude of re-treatments? He's probably scamming ya!" No. I was going to a *terrible* dentist before that had no idea what she was doing. A dentist I had seen a few years ago did a terrible job; in particular, two of the root canals he gave me were botched. He'd left whole nerves and pieces of nerve still in the two teeth. Each one got infected at different times. The first time I saw Dr. Dayani it was quick and painless; I had moderate pain and the tooth was re-opened and he fixed the botched job. The second time, just a couple of days ago, was a different story. The remaining nerve in the tooth became infected, and an abscess formed under my gum behind the tooth; the pain was excruciating - and I mean groaning, rolling around, not-able-to-sleep serious pain. When I went into my PCD's office, he called Dr. Dayani and Dayani told him to send me immediately. Dr. Dayani's office is pleasant and serene; the staff is kind and efficient; soothing classical music plays. I noticed none of this because I was all about the left side of my face swollen and throbbing in pain - I was actually involuntarily crying. I'm usually pretty well-groomed and have a sense of decorum about me, but I looked like home-made sin and was a squooshy mess. Even at such short notice, Dayani saw me within 20 minutes and immediately gave me enough anesthetic to finally - after three days of agony - start reducing the pain. His assistant, a very kind and quiet woman, actually held my shoulder as the pain subsided. Dayani then explained what had happened and what he was going to do; he even explained a few things that *might* have an impact just so I would understand the bigger picture, all while referencing the large, clear X-rays of my mouth. During the procedures he talked about what he was doing if he felt it was necessary; otherwise, he simply did what he does exceptionally well. Now, to the reviewer who talked about Dayani's "chairside" manner. He is a little short, but not condescending, and I for one appreciated the fact that he was laying it out simply, quickly, and efficiently, even if he wasn't playing the part of mother hen. He treated me like an adult, addressing issues in a direct and professional manner - he let his assistant do the (literal) hand-holding. I don't go to a dentist so that he can sweet-talk me, I go because I need someone who knows what the hell they're doing; I very much appreciate a professional being ... professional, just as my guests expect professionalism from me. Going to the dentist isn't a social call, and I don't expect it to be one. Even so, I find his manner to be quite good; after the series of procedures he became a lot less formal and we talked about the situation in a more relaxed manner - he even joked about how the pain I had been feeling was considered worse than childbirth - by women who had given birth (!). AFTER the procedures. AFTER he had done what desperately needed to be done. So I cannot recommend Dr. Dayani highly enough. If you have ever been afraid to get a root canal or even more invasive dental work done, this is your man, plain and simple. If I could give him 6 stars I would. read more

I must say that I don't often write Yelp reviews but I do rely heavily on them, which is how I found Dr. Dayani. After reading what people have said I felt I had to add my own experience with a root canal I had yesterday. The Root Canal: To put it simply, I have little tolerance for dental pain and this was my first root canal - and I was terrified. With Dr. Dayani I never felt a thing. Period. It Took a lot of novocaine (additional once the procedure started) and after he was in there digging around, he realized it was more complicated than he'd expect. So I have to go back again for part 2 in a week. I wasn't in pain when the novocaine wore off and only a mild discomfort the next morning. Staff: His staff is incredible. They helped me price this out, and took the extra time to explain what my insurance would and would not cover (and why). They also called the next day to check on me. Five stars to the team, too! Office: Clean and neat. He uses digital x-rays so I'm guessing the rest of the equipment is modern as well. Scheduling: For both appointments my appointment time was pushed because Dr Dayani was with another patient. The first time it was about 45 minutes. The next time it was 2.5 hours (though they had called before I had left my house to push back 1.5 hours - so office wait was only another hours). Not ideal but the work was worth it, and I'd want the Dr to take his time with me in the chair. Price: I should have gone to dental school because ALL dental work is expensive, and I've needed a lot! Dr Dayani worked with me on the price for my root canal to something that was more affordable. What can I say? It's your mouth ... It's worth it. Dr. Dayani's office is a breath of fresh air compared to other dentists I've seen in NY. The receptionists are friendly and they remember your name. The office itself has windows overlooking central park and plays classical music so soothing that you almost forget half your face is numb and you are holding beeping bits of R2D2's fingers and antennae in your mouth. If you need to see an endodontist, you are probably in a ton of pain. In addition, like most people, you don't even like going to the dentist to get your teeth cleaned, let alone get a root canal. If you are in this boat, go see Dr. Nima Dayani, DDS, MS. He is top shelf. I went to see him for a root canal that was in bad shape and needed the procedure done ASAP. Dr. Dayani does a great job at making his patients feel comfortable and calm during the consultation as he knows people are in pain and freaking out. He explains everything that needs to be done and is very forthright. It definitely helps to both build a patient's confidence in the doctor and to be comfortable with what needs to be done. Personally, I was not worried or stressed as I braces for years and was used to getting my teeth worked on with no pain killers. So give me Novocaine and some easy listening music and I am all good. The procedure went exactly as planned, without a hitch. I was in no pain after the procedure, just a little tenderness, no big deal. Even a day or so later, I had no pain. Root canals require a short followup procedure, and that went extremely well too. In addition to the quality of the procedure, his staff is very good too. His office manager, Adam is very thorough and good at scheduling and moving appointments around. This sounds mundane, but if you are in root canal pain, the difference between tomorrow or the next day is huge. I highly recommend Dr. Diyani if you need a root canal. read more

I have been having chronic pain in one of my molars, with no real answer as to why until recently. Upon my last visit to the dentist it was recommended that I see an endodontist to determine if I needed a root canal. The first one that I went to said that indeed a root canal was needed. Being cautious in nature, I sought a second opinion, so I turned to trusty Yelp and Dr. Nayani's name was at the top of the list. Rightfully so. My experience, while not yielding the results I wanted to hear, was very thorough and left me feeling as if I had all the information I needed to make an informed decision as to which next step would be best for me. I've broken down my rating based on these areas. Office - clean, convenient location Staff - perhaps the best staff I have had the pleasure to experience. They went out of their way to understand what I was looking for, contacted the dentist I had previously visited, and even filled in most of the information on my client form. Extremely friendly and proficient. Dr Nayani - the best part of the visit. He had reviewed my xrays prior to my visit and reviewed the notes from my dentist. He listened to my history of the problem. He performed a quick evaluation of my tooth. After analyzing all of this he gave me the prognosis succinctly and laid out all the alternatives (and their expected results) and finally provided me his recommendation on how to proceed (which ended up being to go to another specialist). Dr dayani, not only made a horrible job at treating my root canal, but also at being a decent person.I understand a Dr. does not have to be great and that everybody makes mistakes. But what I can't tolerate is cheating and dishonesty. My story is simple, I got a estimate for $1, 549 to fix a root canal. After I switched to a different doctor as I wasn't happy with Dr Dayani's job, I discovered my insurance was depleted. He was thorough and knowledgeable--I've been to several other dentists trying to figure out what's going on with one of my molars, and he's the one who finally figured it out! First off, finding out that you have a root canal is not great... Then, getting the horrified cringe looks from some of my colleagues as to why I needed to leave work early to get this procedure done was, needless to say, not very comforting. I would like to start in complementing in exceptional service at the front desk - from booking an appointment to walking out of the office - the customer service is superb. I was refereed by Dr. Manea on a Friday night after 6pm when I was done with my regular dental appointment- she said, "Dr. Dayani is the best" - took her word and went along with it. I called the Dayani's office and left a voicemail, and sure enough Dr. Dayani contacted me on a Friday night after hearing my message, and said he would see me on Monday. As I entered the office on Monday afternoon, I was extremely nervous, and he assured me this will hurt no less than getting a cavity filled. (I thought getting a cavity filled was worse than this procedure). He made sure I was pain free, and comfortable at all times. Dr. Dayani is an outstanding Endodontist, and such a humble - great person. He really does go above and beyond. I was explained everything that he was going to be doing, and he has excellent communication during the procedure. I was on the chair for over an hour and half - and he is not cheap (he does not accept my insurance), but was willing to work with what I had. Root canals get such a bad rap. Going to the dentist isn't my forte in life, and like with other things that are good-for-you but hard to do, in year 2014 I aimed to find a new dentist I love, along with a root canal specialist I REALLY LOVE, so that I could be EXCITED to see them. I now have a housecleaner, a bookkeeper, an accountant, a dermatologist, etc. I've become a veritable grown-up. With Freelancer's Union Insurance, the search was tough. I posted on Facebook and 20-some people recommended various dental offices, most of which do not take my limited HMO options. So I was so happy when my primary dentist Dr. Seguritan kindly referred me to Dr. Dayani to go into a tooth that I'd neglected for over a year (the filling fell out). Dr. Dayani is it! Is it possible to get a root canal that felt like a break in the middle of my workday? I had a nice nap. And they were so accommodating to my irrational fear that led to me being super late for my appointments several times. He worked with me and said: Let's start today and if we don't finish, at least you'll be half over; we'll see if the next patient arrives on-time. It was a very bad week for me, and on top of that realizing that I must have root canal done - did not make it better. I spent a few hours browsing dentists online, and called a few. Three of them did not accept insurances, did not have availability - and I did not want to spend the holiday with pain.... To my HuGe surprise, when I called the number given for Dr. Dayani at 8:20am, my phone call was accepted by a live person. And after explaining my problem, I was even told that I can come in the same day...guess what...? it was Dr. Dayani himself who picked up the phone. That immediately made me feel that doctor is a person who really takes his work seriously and is there for his patients, around the clock. I was supposed to come around 3pm but was notified that something opened up earlier - boy, was I happy to hear that. The office is beautiful - new location, spacious, super spotless clean - I always pay attention to things like that. Dr. Dayani's assistants and front desk people are amazing - very polite, answer all questions, very helpful and soft-spoken - and truly are one team with doc. Loved the fact that you can look outside the window while being treated - very relaxing ( it snowed), and of course, the choice of music ( Chopin was playing while my root canal was done) is lovely - makes you feel very peaceful and relaxed. Dr. Dayani is very professional but had very warm personality. He really knows his stuff very well. I asked million questions, and all of them were answered not only by doctor himself, but also his assistants. As I mentioned, at my first appointment, I had x-rays done, consultation and we confirmed that I indeed had to do root canal and then when I came back, the procedure was done in less than in hour - honestly, it felt like 20 minutes. No pain at all, no discomfort, Dr. Dayani was making sure all the time that I am feeling OK. I felt very safe and it does not happen often for me when you kind of forced to pick a doctor randomly in a short time and not sure what to expect. I am very happy I picked Dr. Dayani. I know most people are wondering about fees - and im not exception. Yes, his fees are probably not for everyone, $1,600 for a molar root canal - probably, you can find it cheaper somewhere else. If this amount scares you away as soon as you hear it - you most likely are like me - but I did not have time to choose. I felt that in my situation, it was worth it - I got exceptional treatment and was cared for the same day I called for the appointment ( day before Thanksgiving). My dentist said I would eventually need an endodontist. Since my pain was in the whole side of the jaw, my dentist advised me to wait until I could isolate which tooth was the problem. Being a coward when it comes to dental procedures, I took the advice, not realizing that this wasn't a good plan. I researched online and read amazing reviews for Dr. Dayani. My tooth pain suddenly got worse while I was on vacation, so I emailed late Tuesday night and was answered the same night! Does Dr. Dayani sleep? He said they would make room to see me in the morning. Sure enough, when I called the office, they explained that if I didn't mind a wait, I could be seen. I arrived to find beautifully designed offices and a courteous, responsive staff. I didn't have to wait too long. Vladamir the assistant was very sweet and made me comfortable while he took Xrays and put them up onto a monitor. Dr. Dayani greeted me, reviewed the Xrays and explained what he was planning to do, the impact on my teeth, the costs involved, taking my questions patiently and my concerns respectfully. As he began the root canal, he was so very gentle, all the while explaining what he was doing. His way of doing this meant there was no pain for me! He is so calm that even the bad news was easy to take. The news was basically that a root canal wouldn't hold for long, he wasn't going to proceed with it, and that I'd need that tooth removed and replaced. I appreciate the honesty and ethics, as some dentists may have done it then gone ahead and charged me for an additional procedure when the root canal failed. Not to worry, Dr. Dayani solved my problem, along with his associate Dr. Miles. I was scheduled for the next day and I was seen on time. Farah the assistant, a sweet, personable young lady, made me comfortable and prepped me for the procedure. Dr. Miles is also very easy going, and was very reassuring with his plan of action. Another dentist in the past had removed a wisdom tooth for me and caused neck bruises like I had been strangled, and a week's worth of miserable pain. Not Dr. Miles - he said there would be pain, explained its progression, and provided medication right away to keep it at bay. Elizabeth the office manager made sure my prescriptions were waiting at my local pharmacy when I got off the train. Dr. Miles was exactly right on the timeline of my healing - there was a short bout of pain, then quickly subsided to a manageable level for a few days. I'm feeling much better now. Dr. Dayani even called me to check on how I was doing! I echo what others have said about Dr. Dayani and his expert, professional, yet compassionate approach to dentistry. Long wait even with the appointment scheduled. I waited around 45 minutes to finally see the doctor. That is why I took one star away. Other than that it was a very good visit. This practice looks nice and new. A lot of equipment and tv screens with HBO and Amazon prime ( didn't get to use them but that's what was shown on the tv) Dr Dayani seems very knowledgeable and thoroughly explained what options I had. I was so afraid. Dr. Dayani spoke so kindly, calmly and professionally to help me relax and understand what was happening. I can't say enough how much that meant to me. And the absolute best part of all was 99.9% no pain. And relatively quick. His office is comfortable, clean and relaxing with modern equipment and professional staff. PLEASE READ: DAYANI SUED ME FOR $100,000 FOR THE BELOW REVIEW AFTER SOLICITING ME IN WRITING TO SUBMIT ONE. KNOWING THAT HE REQUESTED THE REVIEW AND THAT I'D DONE NOTHING WRONG, WE WENT TO COURT. TWO YEARS LATER, ALL CHARGES WERE DISMISSED WITH PREJUDICE. NOTICE THAT ALL HIS REVIEWS ARE 5 STARS; HE SUES ANY REVIEWER WHO GIVES HIM LESS. I CAUTION YOU AGAINST SEEING SOMEONE WHO TAKES THIS KIND OF ACTION ON HIS OWN PATIENTS. Dr. Dayani was curt and dismissive, and seemed annoyed with the way I answered his questions. But he did seem to be genuinely interested in finding out what was causing my pain, and how it can be helped. However, it was an absurdly long wait. After about an HOUR, I was finally seen (my appt was at 11AM). Then after speaking with him for about 5-10 minutes, he left me for "just a second" to deal with another patient... I didn't see him for another half hour. Of the total TWO HOURS FIFTEEN MINUTES I was there, I think I was speaking to Dr. Dayani for about 30 minutes of that whole time. The rest was spent in his chair, without being offered a water or a magazine. And at the end of it all, he couldn't help determine what was bothering me. I left with a mouth full of pain and a recommendation to see my dentist for a possible cavity. read more

Despite my worries and concerns about having a root canal for the first time Dr. Dayani and his staff informed me of all the steps to help ease my nerves. They were even able to see me immediately after my dentist said I needed one, which was great because we all know that root canals aren't always planned. The staff before and after were all very nice and tried their best to ensure I was in the least amount of pain as possible. If you're in need for a root canal, I highly suggest Dr. Dayani. read more

I am really scared to post this review as I don't want this doctor to sue me. I would say that in my opinion it was the worst experience with a doctor I ever had. I also went twice for the same problem, and my tooth still hurts. The experience during the treatment in my opinion was very painful. I do not recommend this doctor. read more

When it became clear I needed a root canal to put an end to the pervasive pain I was experiencing, my dentist highly recommended Dr. Dayani. From there the whole process was seamless. His office was accommodating with my appointment time, Dr. Dayani and his assistant made me feel calm and comfortable during the procedure, and best of all, after the root canal I was 100% pain free. The next day his office gave me a phone call to check in on me which I really appreciated.
