I was in the area and really had a jones for a good NY bagel. The quality at our normal place had deteriorated considerably, so my wife was actually going up to NY and bringing them back. Clearly we needed a new local source for bagels! I ordered two plain bagels and upon getting them noted that they look and smell exactly how great NY bagels should. Even the texture was absolutely spot on. Service was excellent. Once home, I properly topped my purchase with schmear and salmon and braced myself for the moment of truth. This is our absolute go to bagel place! I've read other reviews and I'm not sure why people have anything bad to say. They do get busy and calling ahead can save you much or any wait time. But the people are so nice and the food is delicious. I usually get poppy seed or blueberry bagel with their amazing apple cinnamon cream cheese (sometimes their strawberry cream cheese), my brother gets plain bagel, we both get a side of bacon (yum!), while my parents get a nova lox sandwich, and a sausage egg and cheese. I've driven by 1 million times over the last 10 years and have never stop in before. This morning I wanted to grab some thing so I popped in. This is a very tiny shop on Hadden Ave, small space on a Sunday morning and you're looking at a lot of bodies in one place. People waiting to place their order people waiting for their order to be made and people coming in to pick up their online orders all crowding around in a very very tiny area. The four people working or hustling. But all of that hustling, and that much mayhem leads to mistakes and messiness. First of all the place is dirty. The woman who was working the grill was throwing egg shells at a trashcan and missing every so often with egg shells thrown across the floor and the chair that was next to the trash. Crumbs were everywhere and people were just grinding them into the floor as they were waiting in the tiny space. I placed my order a chocolate chip bagel with cream cheese. I stepped aside and there I waited for 23 minutes. While waiting for my bagel, I was watching the grill and realized that all of the bacon, ham and eggs are made on the exact same grill surface with a zero separation. Please keep that in mind if you are vegan, vegetarian, kosher, halal, etc. I watch the line, grow to the sidewalk outside, one of the four employees kept answering the phone and adding online orders to their existing in-store work load. Watching people with complicated sandwich orders who ordered after me get served. I finally broke down and asked if my bagel will be ready in the next five minutes.. one of the employees asked me what I had and I told her while at the same time a woman behind me said you can place your order online if you don't wanna wait. To this moment, I have no idea why she felt compelled to talk to me. I didn't raise my voice, and I think that I'm entitled to ask a question as long as it's polite and respectful, which it was. The employee looked around and said oh here it is and then handed it to me. So if I didn't ask, I probably would've stood there for another 23 minutes. Ridiculous. The overall situation was truly unnecessary and horrific. I walked in in a great mood and walked out super annoyed. All of it completely unnecessary. I waited 23 minutes in a chaotic, dirty bagel shop for an on toasted bagel with a little bit of cream cheese. What is the bagel extraordinary...no. It was a chocolate chip bagel. I ordered on their website for a 11am pick up time. I also ordered WELL over an hour before to make sure my order would be ready when I arrived. Well, I arrive at 10:55 to a long line out their door. It's now almost 11:20 and the order I placed over an hour prior still was not done!? How. How is that possible? I can tell you, or help give you an idea. They had only ONE PERSON.. yes just one, cooking / making the sandwiches. No one person can handle that many orders alone. They need a second grill and more than 3 ppl working.. I stopped in after the gym for a quick bite to eat a simple bacon egg and cheese on a plain bagel, and several people that ordered before me were served first and by the time i received mine is was not cold but tasted like it had been sitting out. It seems like every town has their local bagel spot. This one is closest to my house and is also next to a handful of the other local spots (the liquor store, pizza, etc..). I wish I could give a 5 star for people being nice and friendly, but that wasn't the issue when I placed my order. For $4 each, I ordered two breakfast sandwiches- both were ham, egg and cheese (cheese is .60 extra if you opt in for it). One was on pumpernickel and the other on rye. In the conversation, I repeated my order twice, but instead of ham I still wound up with 2 pork rolls. Not really a big deal but the pork roll was also overcooked. The shop is small with a simple look....quick in and out style. There are a few tables with seats. Breakfast and lunch is served all day. The bagels were still coming out of the oven when I was there (12 pm). The staff all seemed to work well as a team. When the cook was backed up, there was someone helping right away. Another plus is the ability to watch the cook and see how clean it is. The shop also serves coffee, cold drinks, lunch sandwiches (deli style) and the price ranges from $3 to $8 on average. Overall, I would give them a try again, but for now I have to be honest...my last visit didn't work out well. read more

This place used to be a Manhattan Bagel franchise, but now it seems to be an independent bagel franchise. I personally don't care, as they have the BEST everything bagels (especially with a cooked egg as an add on) that I have had anywhere. This place doesn't deserve even one star. Mediocre service at best. Entirely too costly for the product handed to me. This alleged bagel was nothing more than a roll in a costume disguised as a bagel. The taste was even worse -- it tasted like it had some cleaning fluid or chemical in the dough. $2 and a gluten splurge wasted on this "bagel." Arriving a few minutes before 11am, I waited in line for 5 minutes to pick up my order that was sitting ready behind the counter. There was no way my food was freshly made, it had to have been made when I placed the order at 10am. The hash brown was stale, tough, flat, and cold. My breakfast sandwich was also on a stale bagel, luke warm, with dry pork roll. Growing up as a wrestling fan, one of my favorite characters was a guy named Chris Candito, his tagline was "No gimmicks needed" and that's totally this place. It's tiny, a hole in the wall, and all they do is feed you fast. It's a very east coast, here's your food and get out kind of place. If you're looking for ambiance this is not for you. However, if you want a fast and tasty breakfast in a major metropolitan city, that won't break your bank. This is most definitely the place for you. I'm particularly fond of their bacon,egg, and cheese cinnamon raisin bagel. Even with tip, I never spent above $7. Can't wait to come back. Listen up, grubhub customer and listen real well. This is hands down the best bagel spot in town! There is going to be a line on weekends. You chose to be in this spot so wait patiently. If you are 5th in line or 15th in line still wait your turn. If you think that they're too busy for your needs then shop somewhere else. If you are in a hurry for a bagel fix then shop somewhere else. These are handcrafted bagels and they come out piping hot. They are again I will reiterate the BESTest bagels in town. They are worth waiting the 5 extra minutes for. If you want to call ahead for your own convenience, by all means do it. If you want to order online for your own convenience by all means do it. However this does not entitle you to faster service or to "jump the line" as we have most likely all called ahead as you have, and have been waiting just as long as you plus a few more minutes. The staff is pouring their hearts into the meal while we just get to wait and appreciate their work. And, impatient customer, you really should smile more. My favorite local bagel spot. I am a purist so in a way I'm not much to go on. I get the same thing 99.9% of the time unless they are out of what I want. Poppyseed bagel, not toasted with cream cheese. If they are out of poppyseed I will get sesame, plain cream cheese not toasted. Bagel is crispy on outside and soft on the inside just the way I like it. I hate a dense heavy bagel. Can't speak to the sandwiches personally but my brother loves the bacon or sausage with egg and cheese on an everything bagel and gets that often. Staff is friendly and good at what they do but it tends to get a little slow when they get crowded in the mornings on weekends so if you're in a rush this might not be the place to go. read more

These bagels are OK. The don't have much taste. We switched to Westmont bagel. Westmont is more expensive but they taste way better. Also, we are very concerned about hygiene now and Central Park re-uses their disposable gloves with each order. Taking them on and off with their exposed hand to touch cash register, money bags and phone. Then they put the same glove on for the next order. Finally, when busy it takes forever to be served. They are not very efficient at processing multiple orders from in store customers to over the phone. read more

Ok I'm going to say it and I always stress I do not play favorites or know anything about this place other then I found it on google and will drive 30 minutes out of the way to pick up bagels here. This isn't your typical flat south jersey bagel that's either to crispy or to soft. This reminded me of being back in system island on Bay Street snapping into a crispy bagel with those beautiful little air bubbles from the oven and then hitting a warm and soft core. Their cream cheeses were so fresh and didn't taste like a glob of whipped butter and seasonings. I got an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese, and a onion bagel toasted with garlic herb cream cheese (so subtle but so perfect.) I'm a north jersey guy so I suggest asking for extra cream cheese but honestly these were the best bagels I have had since moving to south jersey. Family run buisness in the Haddon shops next to hair cuttery. This literally was such a good start to a Sunday afternoon. Highly suggest this!!! read more

I don't claim to know New York bagels--I'm an Oregonian by way of Chicago (and we are in Jersey, not New York...) But to my untrained mouth: damn, these are some good bagels. Food is good, but my problem is with service. Picked up a simple meat and egg sandwich that I ordered online. Got home (15-20 minutes out of the way) and found that there was cheese on it. Spent about 5 minutes trying to explain this to whoever on the phone for them to tell me I could either drive the 15 minutes back and get a refund, or come back and get a new sandwich. Was not offered anything initially to make up for their mistake. After a few more minutes of back and forth they offered 50% off. I understand mistakes happen but when the customer is not close you should be offering an apology and something to make up for the mistake immediately. This place is great! Super fresh food is made right in front of you! Open super early, great to hit before work in the am. They close pretty early just whatever you do don't go in 1 hour before close and expect to be served because they just suck their teeth and tell you the grill is off and so is everything else. Decent bagel spot. Basically just a small room with a few bar top seats and no bathroom. I went with the bacon egg and cheese on a plain and the wife had a chocolate chip with butter. My sandwich was pretty tasty and a good size. Real bacon and real eggs. My wife complained that there was a bit too much butter, but other than that she liked the bagel.
