Terrible ownership/management. Just a poorly run business from consumer relations & communication…read moreside. Complete lack of integrity. This place lived up to the billing on the street. We signed my 6 year old daughter up for a basic tumbling class over the summer. She went to all the classes and really enjoyed it. It was fun for her, learning the different skills and playing in the foam pit and bouncy house things they have set up in there during those classes. It was a worthwhile experience for her. During that time, my wife made a $100 deposit on August 8th to have her birthday party there on Sunday Oct. 13th. We signed our daughter up for a class that ran from September - December and met once a week. From the first class it was apparent she was out of her league. These classes were really for kids that wanted to continue to develop their skills and possibly compete. It wasn't really "fun" for her and she was very overwhelmed as many of the girls in the class were significantly more advanced. My wife and one of the teachers there then found a different class that was tumbling level 1 & 2 that fit our schedules so we switched her. That class had about 5 kids in it, a mish mash group with all students way above my daughters ability. She was beginning to get anxious and upset about going to class which was supposed to be fun for her and it became a decision on our part that we were not going to push her to continue if she felt uncomfortable. After missing her second class this week on September 25th, I went into the facility to tell someone at the desk that my daughter would not be coming back and explained the reasons why. I felt telling them in person was the right thing to do rather than just continue to no show. I could have just sent an email, but that's so impersonal and I wanted to make it clear that the decision had nothing to do with the place, just to do with my daughter. I thanked the girl at the desk, who was very pleasant and offered to try to find a different class that my daughter may have friends in etc., but that just wasn't going to work. I let her know that we would still be going forward with my daughters birthday party there in 2 weeks. She marked it all down and I left. About 2 hours later, my wife & I get an email from the "party manager" Samatha that Top Flight would no longer be able to accommodate my daughters birthday party on October 13th and would be mailing our $100 deposit back in the morning. No explanation, No phone call, no offer to switch to a different day, just a can't do it, we will send your money back. She might have just as well sent a text message. So, 2 weeks from a 6 year olds birthday party, that she has been looking forward to since the summer, after invitations were mailed out and preparations made. Now left scrambling to find somewhere else last minute to have a party. It was only after emailing back that I was given any reason for the cancelation. I was told there was a "mandatory clinic" that day and no one to work the birthday party that was booked about 7 weeks earlier. I am more inclined to think the cancellation had more to do with my daughter no longer returning there for the class than a mandatory clinic. Besides, you're a business. you have a party scheduled for well over a month, you stick to your deal. You make it work. You don't turn someone away and cancel a party last minute. The consumer doesn't come first. There were multiple emails sent back and forth that night between the "party manager" and myself. I had asked multiple times for someone to call and speak with me about it and to have contact information for one of the owners either phone or email. All those requests were ignored as I was just told that they review emails and they don't give out their information. I left a message that night asking for owners or party manager to please call me to discuss. Never got a phone call or an email from them. Those requests were constantly ignored, radio silence. I did get a few doozies back in emails though.... I was told that the amount of time between them cancelling and the party, "should be ample time to find another venue" and my personal favorite, "you are the only party that seems to have such a major issue with this". Well, I mean, how could I not. You just cancelled my 6 years olds birthday party 2 weeks before it was scheduled and invitations already sent out. This place is completely laughable and the lack of accountability on the owners and/or management to place a simple phone call after pulling such a stunt is beyond unacceptable for a business. I would not recommend this place to others and would caution taking my business here. I feel people and children should be treated with respect and decency and that is clearly lacking here.

Write this review as an update to my original month ago, it is a continued excellent experience as…read moremember here as our family continues to come for twice a week for 48 weeks a year. Every aspect from staff to facilities to programming to to member administration have all been tops and perfect. They have all the skills, experience and tools with which to carry out their mission realized every hour of every day. It is such an important instrumental part of the community and we are so lucky to have their organized support therein. First the swimming: the aquatics program is infamously strong for every person of every skill from limited abilities all the way through Master swimmers with a few Olympians along the way. But really it is the everyday swimmer who comes and enjoys this experience with others simply and quietly that makes the quiet community so happy. Aquatics instruction can be variable but is generally very good. As always, the key is communication with the instructor and student both. They are every type of instruction in every type of format for every type of swimmer. There are three pools: warm, less warm, and cool (for the athletic types). If it's always wonderful for having very shallow, one for splash padding and acclimation as well as a infrequently open slide (seemingly just 30 minutes each Friday). Gym is extremely well equipped with every imaginable type of equipment and then some all in good quantities and state of repair. Shout out to the janitorial staff who do the unseen work of keeping everything as great, clean and sanitary as it needs to be. Thank you also to the maintenance and and engineering staff and supporting contractors for keeping his facility as good as we always hope it to be. The front desk does all welcoming individually with the card scans as well as having the green green rings for the under 12 swimmers to indicate they have passed the deep swim test. Member services are complete. The staff is knowledgeable, aided by how the IT system can keep up with all the requests. That system is online and self-service so takes care of most of your needs. Parking is always platiful with a vast space which has never run out of parking even during the annual car show days which takes more than half the lot. The lot is also used for a large number of community events so be sure to watch out for them as some are free to the public, not even only members. Life is better with the GSCYMCAband especially the Somerset Hills location.
