I bought a 2007 Ford Five Hundred from here two years ago. After four months of having this vehicle…read morethe fuel line broke and they blamed it on where I had gotten my oil changed last. Service is mediocre, when the rear cradle of my car broke off while driving it, took them over a week to get the correct part ordered. The most recent repair wasn't bad when it hit my pocket, but due to the unforeseen repairs I attempted to delay my auto payments which I always make on time. The idiot rep whom I spoke to said she would speak to the finance manager about delaying the payment for a little less than a week, well she never did and it processed anyway! What a lazy moron! I know at this point I don't have much left to pay off,I cannot wait to just be done with CNAC because their incompetence for something simple is beyond irritating. Do yourself a favor and do not buy a vehicle from here or get financed through CNAC. They take advantage of people with less than perfect credit.

Unfortunately, the dealer took full advantage of me. There is no resolution to my case but I hope I…read morecan save someone else from $400 monthly payments. Especially to the single moms who work their ass off to pay bills.PLEASE make this your last resort. My biggest regret! I currently pay almost $400 for a 2007 car. When I was purchasing my car the rep would not tell me the cost of the car. EVERY time I asked what the price is I was told "We'll get there". Well, we got there when it came time to sign papers. At this point I my options were limited and I was desperate for a car. Worse mistake of my life. I regret it daily! HORRIBLE!!! MAKE THIS LAST RESORT!

While I didn't end up "closing the deal" with Seth, I cannot help but want to share my 5-star…read moreexperience with Saybrook Auto Barn! I first started speaking with Seth in September 2021, and he was willing to hold the car that I wanted to buy for more than a reasonable amount of time, with only a $200 deposit! Unfortunately, I had to leave for the West Coast unexpectedly shortly after my great find. I informed Seth of my circumstances and he was beyond understanding, he called and left me a voicemail shortly thereafter to obtain my card # to refund my deposit, and, well, life happened and I forgot all about the deposit until yesterday, January 11, 2022 (4 MONTHS LATER!). Not only was Seth quick to get back to me, but was just as pleasant to speak with and work with even knowing that I still wasn't a "closed deal". It is rare to find [honest] "used car salespeople", but rest assured that Saybrook Auto Barn is not a great resource to find amazing deals on used cars, be they are extremely helpful and courteous on all fronts, and services they provide for their customers. I highly recommend giving them a go when you're on the hunt for a used car! THANK YOU AND SAYBROOK AUTO BARN, AGAIN, SETH!

VERY NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE…read more I walked in told John the vehicle I was interested in. The first item he wanted was my registration to my car I was trading in. Then he gives me the keys to the car I planned on buying and said you can look at it but you cant drive it! They stated the trade was low because of the interior. The interior had a missing leather piece from the gear box. My seats were fine and they stated all of my interior was in poor condition. John didn't even let me drive the car I was interested in. He was more concerned with gathering my personal information. I should have stopped him and walked out but I didn't. John only concentrated on the negative and not being positive about the car buying process. The employees at the showroom not very friendly, no one said Good Morning. Lastly, while leaving trying to make a cup of coffee - Keurig - and it wasn't working. There was another customer helping me, still wasn't working. The receptionist just staring out the window. I just could not wait to leave that place and annoyed at myself for not just walking out. Buyer beware!

A+ for loan approval process and speed…read more F- for everything else. Applied for a loan and was quickly approved. The issue was, that the check was for more than the vehicle contract amount. As a result, I reached out to see if they could just wire the correct amount to the dealer. NFCU would not wire to the dealer. This makes little sense, as wiring it to the dealer would be the most secure option, and would ensure their security of the collateral. Instead, I was given the option to either request a direct deposit of the original funds amount to my account, then wiring it myself to the dealer or reapply for a new loan of the new amount. They would not even reissue the check for a lower amount. I chose to have the funds direct deposited. WHAT A MISTAKE. The process started on Thursday evening, and funds were finally deposited on Wednesday. At that point, I call in to do a wire transfer. I'm then told that it can't be done over the phone, and that I would have to send it as a secure message. The wire process is now slated to take 24-48 hours... That's pretty unheard of for an institution of their size. Wires are designed to have the money be sent within minutes. All in all, the whole process added over a week of delay to the process. Had I known it was this bad, I would have just reapplied on the phone Thursday night, overnighted the check, and had it by Saturday. NFCU should seriously reconsider their processes. These inefficiencies will seriously turn away newer member. Also, prior to this whole ordeal, the dealer told me that they would accept the check, but that they would have to wait until it cleared before allowing me to pick up the car... seems like they themselves have had to deal with these inefficiencies.

Update following a negative experience at the beginning of this month regarding a monthly payment…read moreand a change in payment method; following a monthly payment made at the beginning of March, 2026, which seemed to never actually leave my bank account, BCI did a payment reversal 3 days later without any kind of notice to me that one was going to occur. I was then sent a strange looking slip of paper in the mail 5 days later that they needed payment for March, and my BCI account now has a $10.00 late fee posted. Maybe I am simply not understanding the processes that this organization uses, but the fact that there is very little communication or attempt to get me to understand what is going on here leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I have little faith in BCI.

I had a horrible experience with an auto loan from this company. I paid off the loan in early…read moreFebruary, but I did not immediately receive the certificate of title. I called several times and on May 22, they said they would send it to me that day; however, it did not arrive in a timely manner, although BCI swore it had been mailed. Assuming the title had been lost in the mail, I called several times to get a lien release letter, so as to enable me to get a duplicate title. On June 18, the company agreed and claimed to send me one; however, that also did not arrive. On July 8, I drove from Rhode Island to their office in Connecticut to pick up a lien release letter. Between that and $53.50, the RI DMV promptly delivered a duplicate certificate of title. This isn't the end of the story, though. On July 19, I received the original June 18 lien release letter. It bore a first-class US business postage stamp dated June 23 (five days after BCI claimed to have sent it), but a USPS postmark dated July 17. A few days later, on July 24, I received the original certificate of title, with a cover letter dated February 10, in an envelope with a business postage stamp dated July 22 and no USPS postmark. Thus, BCI cost me $53.50 (plus driving expenses) and several hours wasted driving to and from their office. Of course, if I'd waited, I would have received the original certificate of title; but who would expect to have to wait two months (being generous and using the date when they claimed to have sent the certificate of title; or over five months from when the loan was paid off and their cover letter was dated) to receive a piece of paper through the mail? Given the divergent time stamps on the lien release letter, I suspect the problem is in BCI's mail room; however, in fairness I can't discount the possibility that the USPS is to blame for some of these delays. I've rarely encountered serious delays with the USPS, however; and if BCI regularly had such delays with their USPS branch office, they should find a workaround.
