This happened because my son fell on the third floor and accidentally hit the spot where the second-floor fire sprinkler was located. I knew nothing about this kind of thing and was really worried that water would start spraying out immediately! I quickly reached out on Yelp to several licensed fire protection service providers, hoping someone could help reinstall it as soon as possible. Leon from Central Fire Protection & Services was the fastest to respond--within ten minutes! I asked Leon if he could come quickly to help me replace and install it because I had to go out the next day. Leon asked me to send him photos and a short video. After reviewing them, he reassured me that there was no need to worry, that it wasn't a big problem, and told me to just contact him again after I got home. When we returned from our trip, I contacted Leon right away. Leon patiently and thoroughly guided me online on how to choose the correct new cover plate, how to purchase it, and explained that once I received the parts, I could actually install it myself. Even after receiving the new part, I still insisted on having Leon come install it, since I'm not a professional. But Leon kindly and carefully walked me through the installation step by step. Finally, with Leon's help, I successfully installed the new cover plate! I was so happy--not just because Leon provided all this guidance for free and never tried to take advantage of me, but also because through Leon, I learned something new myself. Now, with immense gratitude, I'm writing this review to give Leon the highest praise for his professionalism, honesty, dedication, and his willingness to go above and beyond. I recommend Leon to all my friends. I myself work in professional consulting, and Leon's values completely align with mine: not putting profit first, but putting truly helping others first! It's because of people like Leon that our world becomes a better place. (Oh, and even when I insisted that Leon give me a quote earlier, the service price he offered was extremely reasonable.) Thank you, Leon!

He had to interact with my tenant, I did not need to be there, payment was easy. If you need anything done with sprinklers, I would strongly recommend him.

TL:DR. Carlon's over priced, poor and sloppy workmanship, and poor service. I don't know how they…read morestay in business. Carlon's fire was brought on to our project by our GC (another story). They bid $2800 to cap one sprinkler head, separate one head into two, and change 6 other heads to the flush mount heads. It was "a lot of work as we have to cut the drywall all around the changes". Our GC told us to take bid as no-one else would come out. We asked him to see if it could be a bit lower as that seemed high. Were told no. Then, the electricians convinced us to take down all ceiling drywall, so the job got even easier. The tech came and did the work in less than 3 hours leaving behind temporary caps until drywall and paint finished.. We asked GC to ask for discount. He was told no. "you accepted the bid, we did the work". OK, fine. Well, fast forward to end of project. GC no longer involved. We had to call Carlon's. Left messages with office that were unreturned. Tried to call Gabe the manager/owner. No answer. VM full. Finally, I called office and told them that I wanted to speak with Gabe and wasn't hanging up until he got on phone. I explained our frustration. His reply was that he had vacation and then was sick a week. Well, someone should be telling us that. Gabe agrees to schedule the final work in two weeks, "its on our big white board in office". No call to schedule the agreed upon week.. Call again. "Oh, we missed that". OK, we will come Thursday. Well, I"m working. What time? 230 and I have to be there to get the work done. I rush home from work to be there. No guy. Go look in house. Huh, he came before I got home and just did it since I had other workers there who had house open. And, left greasy handprints on my freshly painted ceilings. Thanks a bunch. And, I will also mention that every time I spoke with Gabe, he seemed either high or that the neurons in his brain don't really connect all that well. We did wind up needing more sprinkler work and call Monterey Fire Extinguisher and Jeff Cecilio answered phone right away and sent someone the next day. Highly recommend Monterey Fire Extinguisher. I would recommend for commercial and new builds But not retrofitting a cottage !…read more We were fortunate a few years ago to pick up a small cottage in Carmel. We realized in order to make this something that we could potentially retire to we would need to expand it a little and for that needed an architect or draftsman that could design something that was sympathetic to the existing structure, the cottage is pretty funky being built in the 30's and remodeled by no other than Hugh Comstock 10 years later so is bursting to charm and quirks. From start to finish we've been fortunate with fantastic sub contractors who really understood and helped enhance or accommodate the very essence of keeping the work as sympathetic as possible. Now the sprinkler thing was a curve ball we had to catch from the Carmel city which needed to be installed not only in the new addition but also in the existing house so we were super nervous of it ruining the integrity. Carlon came around and we spent time talking through what we were doing and why and they seemed to really understand. They priced the bid and we had little option than to continue as this was a prerequisite of the city. What Carlon failed to do is provide us with how many sprinklers, the head designs or where the placements were. They were pretty illusive on the details and did not share with us or the main contractor the plans. We asked our contractor to get deeper involved and he met with them at the cottage to walk through their proposed installation and was pretty much horrified by how they were proposing to install in the lounge. From what I recall it was a 1 1/2 inch pipe running Ontop of the wind frames straight through the entire width of the lounge. Anyhow, he came up with alternatives that involved us having to pay almost triple the initial proposal so as to not ruin the cottage. Carlon blamed myself and my wife on the bad design so basically threw us under the bus and I had to pay for a new plan to be approved. Carlon then decided without showing ourselves or our main contractor the 2nd plan the main pipe straight out of the master bedroom facing the road, down the middle of the siding, right across the top of the main window and then elbow to the ground. It was monstrously ugly and literally everyone was shocked. We asked our main contractor to resolve and he was ceremoniously thrown under the bus as the person who apparently agreed and was fine with this design which was not so. He did manage to get them to rectify it by running it down by the side of the downspout and then under the house to hide the piping. (Before and after pics shown) Lastly they omitted to tell us that we needed a 2nd water meter, nor we needed to directly feed the pipes to the mains supply, nor the fact that that supply service cover was an inadequate size and needed to me repositioned, expanded and a trench dug across out gardens. So netting this out of all the contractors and subcontractors I can honestly say every single interaction with Carlon was contentious and stressful. Perhaps in a new build or commercial building they would be great ( the new part of the build went without a hitch) but if you find yourself having to retrofit sprinklers into an older cottage in the area I would strongly suggest you find an alternative. It's rare I give poor reviews, I have actually posted all the reviews of all the contractors we used on the same day so feel free to read up. I am sorry Carlon, I know you didn't enjoy this job either but you need to understand how much anguish you put us through for months.
