Now when I say pizza and pasta, please don't think I mean the usual pepperoni pizza and pasta with tomato sauce (although those have their time and place too). Oh, no. Oh, no no no no no. The pizzas and pastas in Coast are (as that old buffer Michael Winner would say) historic. The pizzas are made on a kind of flat bread which is their own recipe and I could eat it plain without a topping it's so good. But not to look odd, I do the right thing and order toppings like everyone else. Again the toppings are unusual are so so good. My favourite is chilli beef and onions. You get loads of lean beautifully marinated beef - my mouth is watering at the very thought. - and at under £6, this is outstanding value. You can throw on extras like rocket, chorizo, pancetta and sun blush tomatoes. Trust me, you have never had pizza this good. Pasta is an equally good choice - the chorizo carbonara is fab. Order a side of garlic bread, let out your belt and surrender to it. The tobacco onions are unmissable too - long strings of onions coated in something delish and deep fried. Coast is very child friendly and can be noisy in the early evenings so you may want to take advantage of the take away service - make sure you ring ahead with your order.

Garlic bread is incredible though the "aioli" tasted like it was just mayo but the bread didn't need it at all. Goujons were good but the bbq sauce didn't taste bbq at all. The pepper sauce was nice though. Star here was the rotisserie chicken: fall off the bone and cooked perfectly. Again though, sauce was mid. Nothing on this menu needs a sauce (except Goujons) but they all come with them! Dishes def stand alone. All that said, the device made the meal!

A great place for a chill glass of wine or Guinness while watching sports…read more I was told by one of the British Open parking attendants to come here to get a drink. I walked up the hill and there it was. Lot of people standing outside on the patio but no seats. I went in to the small bar on the lower level and a very friendly male bartender waited on me. I wandered upstairs to the second level where it was a huge space and had plenty of big screen TVs for the golf. I found the place to be very comfortable and great views of the water. The young guy at the second level bar was nice but a bit of an airhead (the drink was £11 and I handed him £20, he stood waiting for more money and ummmmmmm didn't I give you a 20? He seemed clueless about the money) We had a laugh but prob a good idea to know what the local money looks like! The top level of this place was an amazing view but it was Sunday afternoon and the bar was not open. Has more of a night feel. It's a fantastic building and I enjoyed my visit.

I've had my fair share of memorable burgers from coast to coast in America, but just glancing at a picture of the beef shin burger transports me back across the pond to the Barking Dog. I remember the few days I spent in Belfast fondly and of the many memories, my meal at the Barking Dog was a definite highlight. In a rather quaint and charming neighborhood, I took a nice short stroll from my Airbnb and came across this gem of an establishment and decided I had to check it out. I had a nice beer to start, and it wasn't a Guinness because stouts aren't my thing, but whatever it was I remember it being excellent and local. Undoubtedly you could make this place a regular haunt and there is no shortage of drinks and food options to make this a go-to for a date, celebration, or a quick meal. The staff are welcoming, kind, and helpful and the general atmosphere is chill. The food for me was ethereal - a burger isn't just a burger here and what you get when you bite into the beef shin burger is a little slice of Heaven. Moist and tender are a given but the taste is just so divine with the caramelized onion, cheddar, and horseradish mayo melding into an union of perfection. It's hard not to describe one of the most memorable meals of my life in such hyperbole but the vivid recall I have of this particular place is uncanny and merits all the praise I can heap upon the fine folks that run the place. If timing had worked out, I would have eaten as meals here as I could have but I'll thank my lucky stars for at least giving me one opportunity to eat such a wonderful burger at such a wonderful eatery. A+ and a definite must when visiting Belfast.

During our stay, Monday - Thursday they are only open for a small window between 5-8:30pm. We decided not to go the brewery tour, so I can't comment on if it is worthwhile, but I think I would try doing it next time if we ever were to go back to Derry.  The brewery has a full restaurant which has fantastic reviews and was also recommended by our friend who has gone before. We weren't hungry yet for dinner, so we opted to just visit the Taproom. The Taproom is also very cool and has a great vibe with interesting artwork. What we really liked about this brewery was it felt like a craft brewery and offered a lot of variety in their beers. It was the first place that we found that offered a sour beer, they had a wit beer, and they even had a hard seltzer (which honestly wasn't very good unless you like gin drinks). We enjoyed a few drinks and the music for a hour or so before deciding on dinner.

The Cauliflower Steak was absolutely delicious with some fantastic flavors to it, and thankfully it was NOT greasy (unlike some other places I ordered cauliflower in the UK). I would highly recommend this dish. As for my taster set, the Punt Purse and 2.3% IPA were both fine, but it was "the Boom" that stole the show in my opinion....I should've just gotten a pint of that. The only negative was our server, who didn't seem into his job at all. The attention he gave us was all quite perfunctory....maybe he was just having an off day because he had something serious on his mind that day, but if not, he might consider looking for a position other than a server (since he clearly didn't seem to be into it).

If you enter through the red door you can go either of two ways but you will want the restaurant in the back. Very open architectural feel to it. Our dinner started with an appetizer--homemade quick bread which fabulous because it was made with Guinness! The two mains were the seafood special and then the venison. Perfectly prepared and well presented. Best meal in Ireland! Four stars, but.... Ok, we went back a week later. Not the same....the guys in the bar were telling mostly offensive, sexist, off-color, and crude jokes. The food was still good--had the house specials of steak and the breen--but our desert was a total disappointment; where was the lemon crud int? Totally missing, and the manager totally agreed. Then, he gave us another one and didn't charge us for it. So today, in Romas, I was ordering my second pint of the day, and I asked the supervisor if I could go to the other side of the bar to get it cheaper and bring it round to this side of the bar (the food side, as there was no room on the other side). He replied that he'd rather I didn't, so I said, ok, we'll do it your way this time, but we can do it my way next time, it's a good compromise. Once he'd served me my pint he said to me that it was my last one. I asked him why, and he said that he just didn't want to serve me any more. I then asked him if I was banned for good, and he refused to answer. After several attempts of trying to get an answer, he said that I wasn't barred for good. I tried to get a reason to why he wouldn't serve me any more drink, and he just replied that he didn't want to. I asked to speak to his manager, and he told me that he was allowing me to drink this pint, with the implication that if I caused trouble he wouldn't. I said that I didn't want the pint but did want to speak with his manager. He took my pint and emptied it. The manager, a short plump middle aged lady, with dark hair, came round from the other bar, and queried if I'd been barred (which I hadn't as I am only visiting newtownards from England to visit my mother who is in a nursing home). I then asked how I could make a complaint, to which she replied that I should write a letter. I asked if they had an email address, to which I was told that they did. I then asked 4 times what the email address was and received no reply. I was then told it was on your website. I feel that my treatment today has been very humiliating, for no good reason what so ever, and I am hoping for a satisfactory apology and retraining of your staff and management as this is well below proffessional standards. Made me feel that I was in the playground again trying to justify myself against a lot of unreasonable bullies. Absolutely disgusting customer service and complaints management.
