I can understand why their review average is 2.5 starts. I brought my kids here because a close family friend recommended them. Let's just start off with the receptionist (specifically the one who sits directly in front). This lady is rude, barely can understand her and the $5 every time I need paperwork done is funny and sad at the same time. But let's get to the doctor or PA my daughter saw (2nd time there). Let me give you a bit of a background with my daughter and doctors. She was born with Bilateral Hip Dysplasia, so lots of doctor visits, X-rays and sonograms from the moment she was born. She also developed a bad toe infections that required 2 biopsy's at the age of 2, again a lot of doctor visits, she also banged her head on the floor face first and bit a small hole through her lower lip which required surgery, and finally add in prior doctor visits for shots, physicals etc. So my daughter DOES NOT LIKE going to the doctor's office, she loses her mind once she knows the setting she's in, especially when she see the Doctor, MA or PA. At this physical appointment, this Doctor or PA that saw my daughter asked developmental questions about my daughter while my daughter tried to escape. I answered everything honestly, yet it's like she didn't believe me. She was more focused on how my daughter was acting (again she hates doctors, she has PTSD), and concerned my daughter was exhibiting Autistic Traits. She asked if my daughter spoke (she does, she's just not where she needs to be), I was trying to get my daughter to say her colors (which she knows) and said person "NO, can she say it herself?!" She can, sometimes you just have to get the ball rolling with her and she'll start pointing out all the different colors. The energy this doctor was giving dismissive and she already made up her mind my daughter might be Autistic and was focusing on that, wanting her to be evaluated for a bunch of things. Let's not talk about the HIPPA violation when she came into the waiting area where I was with my daughter and people were around, and she brought up my son's Autism in front of other patients. Which she was unaware of when we were in the room, so this means after we left, she checked her chart and then his and realized he was, which is why she approached me in the waiting room. Again fixated that she believed my daughter was autistic because she was screaming her life away in the room (AGAIN she had PTSD with doctors and if she would have asked why she was acting that way, she'd understand, but she didn't care). Now here's the kicker, we got her evaluated, and guess what? NOT AUTISTIC! She passed her educational evaluation with flying colors, and the evaluator was very impressed that at the turning age of 3 she potty trained herself in 2 weeks, and holds her urine through the night and gets up in the middle of the night to use it, if needed. Just because one child is autistic, it does not mean the other is, and the way she was trying to push that narrative is crazy. Now the last thing I'd sad is my daughter's iron levels came back extremely low, heavily low, and was told to get blood work done ASAP. We did that same day, this was over 6-8 weeks ago, and have yet to receive a phone call for the results or a game plan. Now one would say I could call, but one would also think with levels as low as hers, there would be som urgency from their end. Luckily we dealt with this issue with my son, and got his numbers back up quickly, so we know what needs to be done. Safe to say, we'll be changing pediatricians, only took 3 visits. read more

Every time I come here they're confused about something. Dropped off a form a week ago, come to pick it up and act like they have no idea what I'm talking about. Then instead of saying, "Well we're dumb as shit or we lost it," they give me the wrong form. So I have to come back with a new one and wait for them to complete it. I don't know what kind of business they're running but if I don't do my paperwork I get a traffic cone shoved up my ass. read more

Our family recently moved to New Jersey and we will not be transferring to our town pediatrician because it's worth the drive knowing she is in great medical care at this medical office. read more

For an update she is now 18 months old and is still breastfed. She started eating solid at 6 months and is perfectly health and happy. My new pediatrics that took over never complained about her weight or that I breastfed. He never did and still doesn't complain about her weight. She is now 23lb. She hit every milestone on time and now know her abc and 1-10. It is completely sad that I had fear from this place as a new mom. I'm am so proud of myself that I switched and new what I was doing was right. read more

I LOOOOOOOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!! Parking is easy, the plazas are near, buy buy baby is up the block (so convenient). They teach you while treating your children and take care of of every and any concern you may possibly have. I NEVER waited more than 1-5 minutes for rooms & the team of doctors are wonderful at communicating, with bubbly personalities that actually make my child want to go back. My children, Brooke (3) and my son Brextyn (7mos) have been going here since birth and I have absolutely 0 regrets. I look forward to bringing them it's never a hassle. When my child needed a specialist that was easy too. They have a solution for EVERYTHING. and as a new mom they have lifted so much weight off of my shoulders. They never treated me like I was supposed to know everything and I am never ashamed to ask for suggestions or questions. They genuinely love to help your child and yourself as a parent. My niece is 9 years old now and has also been going here since birth. And anything they needed or whoever they would randomly be sick we would just call and go right in ASAP. I'm pretty shocked by all the bad reviews. I have taken my three boys since babies. For my second son we tried a different pediatrician because the hospital I had given birth was affiliated with him and location was more convenient. Boy way that a mistake doctor put his finger in my newborns sons mouth to suck on and told my other child to be quiet ‍. Learned my lesson. Every time I hear my son say his ABC's, his numbers, his shapes, names all type of construction trucks etc makes me remember about this nightmare of a clinic and the piece of crap doctors that had us believe that our son was going to have speech problems. Still 1 star. We switched pediatricians and it happens to be that the current one is very concerned about my 4 month old daughter's GERD. We have been expressing concerns for such a long time and it seems like this place was (IS) only in it for the money. New problem is that I've called them various times to get my daughter's vaccination records and upon having the current pediatrician attempt to collect this information, they have yet to respond. Your kids deserve better than this. A few years ago, our son came into this world. Upon release from the hospital, we needed a pediatrician to see him and this place was linked to the hospital, so we took their recommendation. We called and made an appointment for 10:00am a few days later. We get there a good 10 minutes before our appointment time, when we discovered their doors were locked. Mind you, we had a newborn with us and it was in March and kind of brisk outside. There was a handwritten note in the window claiming they were "full". So we knocked and buzzed the bell until we got someone on a speaker who was dismissive and nasty and who wouldn't let us get much of a word out. Thanks to the power of cell phones, we were able to call and tell them we were outside for our 10am appointment. They were saying they were overbooked with people (apparently, they make appointments, BUT ALSO take walk-ins - NOT a good system at all). We argued and they let us in and had us wait in the large waiting area. A good pediatric office will at least have a partition that separates the sick kids from the not so sick kids (and newborns)......but no, not this place. We're in one large, boring, and what looked like, a make shift room.......with sick and healthy kids running around and all. Needless to say, we were already very unimpressed, but we were kind of desperate to have our son checked out for the first time and it was doubtful we'd be able to find another place on such short notice that wasn't a toilet like this place. Finally we were seen by this doctor Schiffer, who had a great reputation from some we spoke to. He was a bit older, but I prefer quality, so I didn't mind. I mean, apparently he was this "great" pediatrician, so age meant nothing. He did the usual check-up, but apparently couldn't find my son's records that the hospital DID send them - so he proceeded to take notes on the outside of a manilla folder. I'm not making this up.......he took my son's name and made notes on the outside of a manilla folder. He also uttered the word "delicious" when referring to our son enough times, that we were a little concerned. We get it - he's a cute baby, but when the word "delicious" is said about 10 times in a matter of minutes, it's a little much and a rational cause for concern. Finally out of there, we head over to the reception area with 2 of the nastiest old lady receptionists I've ever encountered. They were rude to us, didn't appear to have a clue as to what they were doing and proceeded to write our names, numbers, and information on the same manilla folder the doctor used. Yeah, real professional of them. Have they not have any proper forms? Bad enough they LOST our information from the hospital affiliated with them, but now this. We momentarily made another appointment (though we were already done with this place) and inquired on why they even bother to make appointments in the first place, when they have walk-ins and obviously don't honor the appointment system. They just shrugged off the answer and gave us a generic "it was a busy day"-type response. When we left, we felt like we just escaped from the cruelest prison we could imagine. This place is literally a toilet. No organization. Dirty. Unprofessional. They take appointments, but apparently walk-ins take precedence. Your kids are better off NOT even going to the pediatrician if this place is your only option. The two places we've been to since are miles better than this place could ever hope to be. I am shocked to read reviews complaining about any physicians at Central Avenue Pediatrics. I have been using them for 10 years, my sister used them for over 20 years before me. Every physician genuinely is loving and care for all their patients. I would rather a physician that sent my child for an evaluation that may not be necessary then to blow off a concern in their development. I love that this practice is a family and they all discuss their patients, they KNOW their patients, they care for their patients. I have always been pleased with the care my children have received. I have been going here for 7 years and I never had any problems before. However in the past few months things went downhill. Number 1: The wait is too long to be called and for the Dr to see us. Now that I have 3 kids, thats torture. Number 2: Short staffed! When we are finally seen Its so rushed because there is not enough Drs or nurses. Number 3 and my biggest let down: The Bronx office is only being used for children under 2 years old?! I have a 4 and 7 year old. I live in the Bronx and if any of my kids were sick I would bring them to the Bronx office and now I can't. If there is no improvement next month, im out of here which is sad because we really liked Dr Cole, Mary and Michelle. DONT GO!!!! I will not go back there after my first visit with them! I recommend everyone not to. I am reporting them today. The nurse came in with nail polish on her long nails and without washing hands or putting gloves on, she tried to give injections of TB test to my children. After I asked her Nicely to put a glove on her reply will shock you: "WE DONT EVEN HAVE THEM HERE". After telling her, ok we will not getting the injections then, she just walked away and while exiting she said " Then go back" . Doctor was though nice but she told me false information just to charge my insurance for my son's visit. My son had a well visit six month ago and he is 3.5, She told me he needs one because they need one at 3.5 years old as well. Other nurse came in upon my request of wearing a glove, she came in with gloves on. After she did her job, I told her "Thank you" to ease the situation, she turned around and told me " you know I have been doing this 50 years and if 50 years ago, patients will feel offended by nurses wearing gloves!" HOW RIDICULOUD! They are unethical. They put children at risk for infectious disease. They need to have their license taken away! read more

In 2011 I had my first child and started taking her to the Bronx office because they were affiliated with my OB GYN. I disliked all of the doctors except one (wish I could remember her name, but it's been so long). Anyway, these people are so unprofessional and disgusting that it's a miracle they haven't been shut down. The doctors wrote their notes on a manila folder or piece of blank paper. I always felt rushed by Schiffer (the son) and Schiffer (the father) was creepy. Once Schiffer senior was attending patients with blood on his shirt. Schiffer junior once had an argument with one of the other doctors in the hallway. I was so embarrassed for them. I took my daughter for almost an entire year for well care visits, which don't require a co-pay, and they charged me a co-pay every single time. I didn't know this until I took her to her new doctor and they told me I only had to pay for sick visits. How shady is that?! They are clearly taking advantage of people. The Scarsdale office is just nasty. The area is dingy and outdated, the front desk staff is rude, and the doctors always rushed through the visit. The last straw was going in for a scheduled appointment and being treated bad by a nurse because the visit went past closing time. She was extremely upset and made it known. Also, the only doctor I liked got cancer and she wasn't working anymore so there was really no reason to go back there. I know there were more reasons for never going back, but it's been so long that I don't remember. Point is, please do not put your child's health in the hands of these incompetent people. If you give birth at Lawrence and are looking for a pediatrician ask to see a doctor from Westchester Health Pediatrics. You will not regret it. read more

Not sure why all of the bad reviews here. My baby is now 4 months and I have been going to them since he was a week old. I absolutely love Dr. Christine, she is personable and listens to all of our questions.The other doctors also seem to be personable and easy to talk to. We never felt rushed, I'm still fairly new to the clinic but will follow up if anything changes. The only reason I gave them four stars is because they do have a bit of an antiquated system, a few things are done by paper but I believe they also have a patient portal. read more

If I can give zero stars I would!!! I had my daughter blood tested for inactive TB at her new doctor because of what happened with this office. When she was younger and had her PPD it came out positive. She had a huge lump. But to me it looked like it could have been an allergy anyway the doctor at Central Ave prescribed her a medication she would have to take for 9 months that could cause damage to her liver. On the third day of trying to give her the meds, I gave up. She would vomit the medication and anything she ate so far. She would be really sick most of the morning afterwards. I went back to the doctor and told them I would wait till she's older to try I again because I felt she was too young! Then when she started preschool, I had to have this doctors office fill out her paperwork to let her into school. On the sheet they wrote her PPD was negative... but I was told it was positive and they put her medication for it... being a first time mother I was unsure about what to do but I was angry the doctor said this and now on her sheets for school it says she came out negative! I had had enough with this place. There had been a couple smaller insistences that I saw at this office I did not like at all. (IE: daughter getting immunizations and needles being stuck into the bed afterwards while the nurse cleaned up). I finally switched doctors and first things first, I had her blood tested for the inactive TB and she came out negative! Which means the skin test was a false positive. Then before putting a baby on those meds the doctor at Central Avenue should have done a blood test to be sure. So they were completely okay with giving her meds to ruin her liver without double checking ? I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone! Please do not take your child here. read more

They are so sweet everyone staff, nurse and doctors. I've been taking my daughter there since she was 2 days old. Love them.

I think the Doctors are all great, as are the PAs, especially Mary, and their nurses. Their billing practices, however, are very, very unsavory! With my insurance, there is no co-pay for well visits and it seems that they use any excuse to charge a co-pay. For example, at two different appointments in March and April of 2014 they told me my daughter had eczema and referred me to a dermatologist. They never treated the eczema or prescribed anything at the appointments and then proceeded to give her the required immunizations. As most of us parents are aware they don't give immunizations during sick visits. Subsequent to those appointments I received a bill for co-pays billed under the guise of Acute Laryngitis. I'm guessing they used a more severe illness so they could collect more money from the insurance as well as collect my co-pay. So basically they want to charge me and my insurance for referring me to a dermatologist who diagnosed my daughter with another form of dermatitis that was not eczema! Recently I am being billed a higher co-pay for a sick visit for what they call a Brochospasm Evaluation/testing that was never performed during the 10 minutes that the doctor examined my daughter! While I love the doctors I will be switching to a different pediatrician's office where they are honest when it comes to their billing! I would never deny payment for services that were actually rendered for my daughter but this being overbilled for nonsense is preposterous and I won't stand for it any longer. My daughter deserves care from a more reputable practice with honest individuals and doctors and not friendly crooks! I know most of us parents are so busy that we don't really look at our explanation of benefits after each appointment but if you are receiving services from this office you should really take a look! read more

Central Avenue Pediatrics had been the exclusive primary pediatrician for my daughters since birth; twin daughters for five and one-half years and singleton daughter for a little over four years. My wife and I are disappointed in having to switch pediatricians. The bad experience we had with their front office staff the morning of Saturday, October 6, 2012, and the subsequent mishandling by Dr. Karen Cole, is what cemented our decision to switch medical providers. Medical service providers need to be more sensitive to the schedules and needs of patients. While Central Avenue Pediatrics has prided itself on being open 365 days a year which is a godsend for working parents (and why we chose the practice in the first place), their stated office hours change on the whim depending on the patient backlog in the waiting area. As it turns out, the family had arrived in their office on Saturday at 10:10 AM for another round of vaccinations for our youngest daughter. Our arrival was 50 minutes ahead of the 11:00 AM closing time. We were told that due to the unexpected surge of patients, that our daughter would have to be turned away. When my wife suggested returning the following Sunday morning, she was told by the front office staff that it was anticipating another patient surge, and in a dismissive tone was told to come back another time. The lack of respect for time and the condescending attitude exhibited by the front office staff towards me and my family was unacceptable. After Dr. Cole received complaints from the front office staff on how irritated and disappointed I was, instead of reprimanding the staff, I was the one who had been lectured for challenging their disrespectful and disdainful attitude. I was disappointed and felt betrayed in her handling of this matter considering that she has attended to our daughters many times in a caring and dedicated manner and the family has had a very good physician-patient relationship with her. What my wife and I have found is if there is a backlog of patients then the front office staff shuts the front doors and starts turning patients away before the scheduled closing time leaving parents frustrated and confused. This has happened several times to us. If their stated hours are 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, then as a professional practice they should honor those hours and not change them (unless there is an extenuating circumstance, such as inclement weather). My wife and I have often found somewhat of a disconnect between the front office staff and the professional staff. It was Dr. Cole who had suggested we come back in early October for another round of vaccinations, which is what we did. My wife and I have also discovered that the medical staff is unaware of how appointments are being scheduled and the manner in which the front office staff speak to patients. Dr. Cole disassociated herself with the scheduling process. It has been over a month since we requested our daughters' medical records. I learned the morning of Monday, November 5, 2012 from someone who answered the phone in the front office that the medical records were never sent out after our initial request since the office's policy is to send it out only to pediatricians and not to the home address of the patient or their parents. After I insisted that this was a violation of both federal and state laws the front office person hung up the phone on me. Under both the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule and New York laws patients and their parents' have rights to copies of medical records, including the doctor's' personal notes. The HIPAA Privacy Rule sets standards that apply to records held by health care providers across the nation. New York law sets standards for records held by health care providers within the state. Generally, health care providers must follow both New York law and the HIPAA Privacy Rule. The following day, Tuesday, November 6, 2012, I spoke with Dr. Todd Schiffer. I was told by him that I would have the records be delivered to me on Friday, November 9, 2012. We have not received any records. Central Avenue Pediatrics needs to take out its own otoscope and perform a self-examination of the 'patient experience'. This begins with the phone call to the medical provider. It includes the whole time a patient is at the doctor's office and any follow-up contact that happens after. Patient experience is an important part of quality health care. At first, my wife and I thought that rogue front office personnel were creating a poor patient experience. It turns out that there is a systemic problem stemming from the medical staff running the practice. I have complaints pending with the Office for Civil Rights, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the New York State Department of Health, Office of Professional Medical Conduct. read more

Dr. Merrer and Dr. Cole are generally wonderful! And Mary, the nurse is also AMAZING. I wish they would leave this place and go to another because as the years move on, it just gets worse. It's been 16 years and honestly I can't wait until it's over. Hours get shorter (now m-th 8-10 and 2:30-5, Fri-Sun 8-10), waits get longer and the office assistant Rose is AWFUL. Of course, as is the case with most things here, you have to call the office and get the phone number to Rose, hang up and call her directly. Where she can tell you that she's busy. Then she'll fill out your paperwork (after two weeks) incorrectly so that you'll have to go back at least three times. All the while too "busy" but every time I walk over to her office she's on a personal call or searching the internet for personal things. Really? Because I mean your office is closed MOST of the day - maybe you can take care of that then?! read more

I cannot believe the reviews about this pediatrics. My six year old has been a patient here for years. Never had an issues regarding long lines or staff being unhelpful or treated men with disrespect. I can honestly say the doctors,nurses,receptionist and staff have been amazing with care they have given my child over the years. Mary is beyond sweet, very caring and she actually takes the time to listen to my concerns regarding my child's health. Rose has been beyond amazing and goes out of her when at times when i need documents faxed to other physicians and also in a timely manor. Rose also has helped when I needed to contact other physicians regarding medical insurance. Hands down I give them two thumbs up and I am very content with this pediatrics. I feel compelled to write a review because I think that the three 1-Star ratings for C.A.P. are misguided. First of all, not to belittle anyone's experiences because we all know that the health and comfort the children are the most important things in the world, particularly when they're sick and when choosing a pediatrician. Be that what it may, certain things need to be pointed out and appreciated: The Schiffers have been in business in the same location for more than 50 years. It's a family practice that includes both parents, a brother, and a sister. Yes, it's more clinical than Park Ave; indeed this is not a boutique pediatrician's office, and appointments are more of a guideline than a reservation. But, this office is open 365 days per year and the bottom line is, the kids that are seen are cared for and cared about. The office hours are clearly stated and you can show up at any time and your kids will be seen and will receive great and compassionate treatment. Would my wife and I like something a little nicer in terms of an office and waiting room? Sure. We've been with the Schiffers since our first son was born. They were the on-staff peds at Lawrence Hospital, and were the peds that my wife's OBGYN used for their kids. So, we went with them and we stuck with them. We considered switching for reasons of convenience (we live in Riverdale), but at the end of the day, it's plenty convenient to have a doctor open every single day of every single year, and to know that they genuinely love our kids. Also, we've been put through the ringer with insurance companies and new regulations, and C.A.P. has never given us a problem with any of it, even after they moved over to be under the umbrella of Westchester Women's and Children's Health. Pediatrics is a very sensitive issue and I understand certain drawbacks with this practice. But, the care and compassion are wonderful and the fact that they're open every day is such a great comfort because when a mystery illness befalls a little one on a Saturday night, I'm very relieved that I have such wonderful doctors to turn to Sunday morning. read more

But i do have a few call outs they definitely can make some improvements on. First its ridiculous that between the hours 10am-2pm they are unavailable. Second the front staff/receptionist are rude and unprofessional. Third they did not contact me in regards to having medical documents filled out. There is often a long wait time - it is really a walk-in doctor's office where you show up for the morning hours or the afternoon hours. The office is not in great shape (other reviews have talked about that). I have brought my two children there for over 2 years and I can always get them seen whenever they are sick (the office is open 365 days) and the medical care and advice has always been great. My kids have had some significant medical issues and, even with seeing different doctors, nothing was missed. read more

Awful and so happy I switched just sad I didn't do sooner. They took copays for a year when I didn't have to pay and realized that when started with a legitimate doctor. They caused parents to panic from the hospital and so on. They have my son a spinal tap and admitted him unnecessarily all at a very young age. It took a visit to an ER at 1 am during flu season advised by answering service since they didn't want to come to the phone for aN ER nurse to ask why I came in for minor fever issue and expose my child to flu for me to wake up and trust my instincts. When she saw who pediatrician was she confirmed that they have had terrible experiences and advised me where to go and I never looked back. They always made me come in and as a working mom that's hard... there were no phone calls to limit unnecessary visits and when they are illegally charging copays why not. One of the MDs told me and my husband that he works multiple jobs so his wife doesn't have to so that their children can have a better life and not go to daycare like our situation where they always get sick. My husband almost lost it. And the front desk is always rude. They accuse you and act like anything is a favor and charge for anything. Awful. If I could give them 0 I would. This is by far the most unprofessional office I have ever been to. They did not file my daughters paperwork properly and tried to double her up on shots. They tried to brush it off saying it was "extra protection." Dr. Shiffer is disgusting and has told me to let my daughter cry it out so I could have sex more. They act like every question you ask is ridiculous and you are just a crazy first time parent. Dr. Cole is the only good Dr there and the only reason we stayed as long as we did. I can't believe they are even running. Their hours suck I dont know how they make money they are never there. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. read more

I had originally came to this location because they were the doctors that introduced themselves to me in Lawrence Hospital after I gave birth as if they automatically expect you to start using them for your child's Doctor. Upon having my child Dr. Schiffer (the father) and Dr. Schiffer (the son) along with their daughter, Dr. Marer came into my room stating that my daughter was sick and losing too much weight at a rapid speed. Mind you I had just had her 2 days prior and was informed she was completely healthy. I was awaiting the photographer to come take pictures and instead had all 3 doctors in my room creating hysteria. I should've known what I was in for. I brought my daughter here from a week old until about a year and a half because I didn't know better. I ended up liking Dr. Cole the best and had stuck with her for some time although a thermometer was never used when I brought my child in with a fever, she would put her hand on her forehead a stat weather she felt my child had a temperature or not although I took her temp at home and knew she did. The place was in need of a makeover 5 years ago so I can only imagine now. Anytime my daughter came in for an appointment, I was asked if she had ever been ther before... Really? The nurses were rude and so were the people at the front desk.. This place is a hole in the wall and loves locking up the doors quickly. Careful because private information does get discussed amongst workers here as well. So glad I left and found a real pediatrician who my daughter adores and I feel comfortable with. read more

South Bronx with a Scarsdale address. This place is a factory that no one will know who you are and you will never be seen by the same care provider. Forget about seeing a doctor. So disappointed with this place!!! They don't pick up the phone. It's hard to get information. They don't adhere to their schedule. For example: I showed up at 4:50 and the door was locked. Yet their schedule says that they are open till 5. Service is rude and the care provider does not read the child's medical history so be prepared to tell them. If you have no place to go then use their services. But if you want to be treated with respect stay away from this assembly line of fast food (medical) careless providers who are only interested in your money. Be aware of their billing practices. From the moment you enter till you leave this place you will be reminded of South Bronx Medicare clinics. I'm out!!!! read more

My son, who has ASD (they have records of his diagnosis on file) was anxious and nervous about his doctors visit (9/2016), which means for my son, he will whine and fidget a little. The two doctors I like my son to see at this practice (Dr. Cole and Dr. Merrer) were not there so we saw Dr. Schiffer, Sr. in room 6. As he was checking my son's file he told my son to lower his voice a couple of times and I responded that "he's a little anxious". Dr. Schiffer told my son to lower his voice again with a condescending tone and I told Dr. Schiffer that my son is not going to lower his voice with his rude approach and not to talk to my child in that manner because he was making my son uncomfortable. To my disbelief, Dr. Schiffer literally had an alarming outburst, which consisted of him slamming his hands down on the examination room sink counter and yelled that my son needs to stop making noise. I was frighten by Dr. Schiffer's behaviors and I immediately left the examination room with my son to the front desk to request another doctor to see my son. I felt threatened because Dr. Schiffer followed me to the front desk, yelling and screaming for me to leave the office. He was irate, literally kicking and banging stuff along the way. He stated my son was loud enough to be heard 20 blocks away. I stood my distance from Dr. Schiffer with my son and told him he needs to retire. I told him this is no way you treat a child, especially a child who is on the autism spectrum. His nurses approached the front desk area, trying to figure out what had took place, while Dr. Schiffer was hysterical like I did something negative to him. My son who had to endure all of this became very upset, cried and screamed with fear. To make a long story short, I don't plan on ever going back there. I have filed various complaints and I am seeking a new pediatric practice/pediatrician. It's a shame given that I have been going to this place for a long time but after that crazy experience, I can't no more. read more
