So far, I'm happy with our new pediatrician group. This is a complete 180° from our experience with the practice that our daughter first visited, only days after leaving the hospital. This group consists of three, very competent doctors, who take parental concerns to heart. We are by no means, anti-vaxxers, but we do free concerns with the amount vaccinations given at one time. We expressed that from day one and asked for spacing out of some of our daughter's vaccinations to give her body time to adjust. The doctors worked with us as best they could so that we felt comfortable with each visit. They go over what's to be expected with our growing baby and offer suggesting to help promote her successful development. The office is clean, the front desk staff and nurses are pleasant and accommodating and they work with us to ensure we get the appointment dates that work within our schedules. Parking in the area is a bitch (not gonna lie) but there a garage at the beginning of the block and scarce street parking short walks away. The office is on the main floor of a residential building so usually the spots out front are all taken. Definitely give yourself enough time to park and walk to the building, especially if you're out and about alone, with a stroller and baby. If two parent are present, drop of one with the kid at the building while the other goes to park. It's just easier that way. read more

I was a new patient in March with a newborn. I had recently had an emergency C-section No other complications with baby. Reason why I will not give this pediatrics a five star is mostly due to scheduling and reception. I'm not sure who makes the phone appointments but I called and had to deal with this person on a couple of occasions. First time I had to set up an appointment as a new patient with my baby the receptionist seemed to have a condescending tone for simple questions that you would ask when setting up for a new patient and finding documents. Seem extremely annoyed when I would ask questions and condescending.Now I was recently out of a horrible experience with an emergency C-section so I thought it was just me being hormonal. But I recently missed an appointment and had a call from the receptionist asking if I was going to be any later than I was. Nice way to say hello to a patient I guess. I had thought my appointment was actually for the next day so a little confused by the question. She said there was going to be a $50 charge. no big deal understandable times are crazy. No argument from me I had missed calculated and just asked if I can reschedule.But instead of just charging the $50 And rescheduling for a different day the receptionist had a huge attitude and was super condescending again. I literally had to stop mid conversation to ask if she was OK because her tone was completely off. The doctors were average and I wouldn't mind going again but I actually switched doctors because I definitely do not want to deal with such a nasty attitude from reception every time I have to make an appointment for my daughter. read more

Riverdale Pediatrics has expertly cared for our children since we moved to the neighborhood in 2004. Through all the routine wellness visits and the occasional scary accident or sports injury and too many sports and school and camp forms to count, we've had nothing but extremely positive experiences with the practice. The office staff is great, appointment availability is reasonable given the practice's popularity, and they are very responsive with calls and referrals. Their affiliation with Columbia's children's hospital is a bonus. Highly recommended. read more

I have a 7 year old boy and a 3 year old girl. Have been coming here since my son was born. I've always had a positive experience. They always try to accommodate appointments for the day of. The doctors are helpful and will call you to check in after the appointments to see how your child is doing. My children have always felt comfortable and the nurses have always been kind and gentle with them. I've never felt the need to write a review since i am pretty sure most of their patients and parents have had the same experience my family has had since they are always busy. The reason I am writing this is the negative review about the masks. I came on for the zip code for my pharmacy and was appalled at thisThe doctor always wears a mask and the receptionists are behind glass!! Beyond ridiculous in 2023 to feel that everyone has to wear masks. If you are wearing one that should be enough protection for you. Also, children need to be exposed to their surroundings to have a strong immune system. I've had nothing but positive experiences. Also the place is super clean and you are asked to fill out a Covid questionnaire as precaution and they space out their appointments so it's never more than two patients at a time. read more

I would put zero if I could. We go there for our baby, who is not yet immunized. The front desk do not wear masks (they have them on their chin). When I politely asked them to put it on because I had to talk to them, they refused and said I could just sit at the other end of the room, after talking to them. Once inside, the nurse taking all the info removed her mask, in our baby's face, to say hello to her. Her face was 30 cm from our baby, despite us asking her to not do that. Surprise, now we all have covid, including our baby. We do not go out to avoid covid. This is beyond irresponsible and frustrating. Accidents happen, especially in a doctor's office we understand the risk we have to take to go there where other sick people go, but the fact that the staff not only refuses to wear masks, make you interact with them, but when we politely ask them to be cautious around our baby, they smirk and mock us. I love Dr. Oppedisano. She has been taking care of my 2 babies since birth, however, her office staff is the worse, specially the young lady in the front desk. So rude in person and worse on the phone. She talks to you like if you were bothering her and answers questions with an attitude every time. I have heard the same thing from other parents that had interactions with her. Every time my kids (1 yo and 5yo) have a doctor's appointment, I hate going just so I dont have to interact with her. I didnt want to switch doctors because I really like Dr. Oppie (like my child would say) but I cant deal with the front desk staff anymore. read more

We have experience with only Dr. Rodriguez and Dr. Strassberg and I will specifically review each. In short: if you care about breastfeeding and want the support from your child's pediatrician to be successful, run- don't walk. If you don't care about that, the office itself is well-run and organized. The Dr.'s are always available (even on off hours) and was it not for how absurdly uneducated and dismissive of breastfeeding they were, we wouldn't have switched. Dr. Rodriguez is completely unsupportive of breastfeeding. When our baby got jaundice a few days after birth, he recommended formula over pumping and feeding because he wanted to know the quantity of food going in vs coming out (our baby was hospitalized for jaundice). What he was trying to do is understandable but here was a mom with a good milk supply, a hospital grade pump and willing to pump for however long needed, and he was absolutely dismissive about it. It was only after a fierce and confrontational discussion that he agreed to let me pump, measure and feed. Furthermore, my friend had a similar experience when her daughter was at the 100th percentile for her weight at 18 months old. He told her that breastfeeding beyond one had no medical benefits (100% wrong) and that instead of giving her toddler a cup of whole milk, she should feed her toddler skim milk instead. See WHO guidelines for breastfeeding and AAP guidelines on whole milk vs skim milk. As for Dr. Strassberg, she's only slightly more supportive. For example, when I suggested using donor milk (from a trustworthy source) instead of supplementing with formula - this is before my milk came in- she was, more or less, appalled. Some of the worst doctors I have ever dealt with. As a new parent with a newborn I do NOT recommend. All my questions and concerns were shot down, they are all unapproachable with "because i said so" attitudes. For my baby's first vaccinations they simply handed me a sheet of paper that listed side effects and when i asked questions about it they just told me to read the paper. The doctors are all very caring and great with our son. Especially Dr. Opedisano. All the nurses have been pleasant as well.

I have a 2yr old and a 3 yr old that go to Riverdale Pediatrics. I have been taking them here since they were born and can't imagine going anywhere else. They are very personable. Take the time to answer all our questions, (even having my husband on speaker thru the physical on days he can't come in.) They talk to my daughters in such a comforting voice, listen to them and explain everything that will take place before their physical and during. This may not seem like a lot to some people but you'd be surprised how much it helps comfort my 3 yr old. It feels like a family and they all genuinely care. Also, whenever I've had to call during off hours I always get a call back within minutes and follow up calls to ensure my girls are okay. For emergencies they make the time to see us no matter how busy they maybe. Honestly I can't speak highly of them enough. I always recommend them to everyone I know or that asks where I take my girls. You guys ROCK!!!! read more

Our son would be a new patient for this "office". We needed to schedule an appointment asap.First they asked for all his records from his previous dr. ( closed her her office in the area). We managed to get some records and fax it over to them next day. And guess what..they said it will take them ten (10!!!) days to review those papers BEFORE scheduling the first appointment. Really?!! I truly do not understand the negative reviews on this page at all. We have seen all 3 doctors and they are fantastic. They are always available, even after hours, and they ever make us feel rushed or annoyed by our needs. They seem to truly care about the well-being of our baby. All doctors are extremely smart, have encouraged me in our nursing journey when we had issues, have always been available to us, always fit us in of we needed a same day appointment. The front office staff as well as the nurses are very kind. The doctors take a lot of time with us after each milestone appointment. I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else with my baby. We know people in our neighborhood who have adult children and they sent their kids there when they were children. I can't say enough great things. We have our preferences of doctors out of the 3 of them, but everyone is different and has different personalities. All of the doctors are very smart and caring. read more
