I'm not sure how many people really research their Pediatricians before they pick one, but I'm big…read moreon research. I have to say, after my initial visit with Dr. Haber, I was not impressed. Although she had all the credentials that I was looking for (lots of experience, ABP certified, has done some research), I was quite disappointed in her lack to look outside the box. She's uncomfortable with deviating from her own opinions and will flat out lie to you in order for you to bend to her way of thinking. The situation was over vaccines. I'm sure many a Pediatrician will cringe at the thought of having "the vaccine conversation" with parents - especially those who've educated themselves via the internet. However, we're not the average web-smart parents (although we are web-savvy); I subscribe to several Pediatric medical journals and also try to keep up-to-date on the most recent research. I vaccinate my child (my own choice, I'm not saying other parents should/n't), but I like doing a couple of shots (no pun intended) every month, instead of a bunch every other month. Dr. Haber had a problem with this. We're not sure why, but she must have been in an argumentative mood. She was obviously not up-to-date with the most recent research going on, nor had she read up on the ingredients in vaccines, but she was determined to attempt to argue her way into changing our minds. Even, at one point, lying to us about the ingredients. I'm not saying she's a bad doctor, she's probably one of the best (she's also a professor at a local medical school), but she's just not the one for us.

The receptionists greet you speaking Spanish, and are rude and nasty when you speak English. The wait time for a new patient appointment for my son was an hour and a half. That's really ridiculous for a peds practice. Then when we finally got called, the medical assistants stated they didn't get my son's records that were sent over weeks ago from Weill Cornell. I know for a fact they were sent over because they were confirmed before the appointment. I had to look up his meds while he got weight and height. When we met with Dr. Quijada he seemed cold and disconnected. How is this guy a pediatrician again? He asked a couple questions and looked at my kid, barely touched him and sent us downstairs to get a flu shot. He didn't say where to downstairs since this place is built like a school. So we sat in the waiting area we initially came to for about 20 more minutes before the lazy receptionist told us where to go. I think we will go back to my son's prior pediatrician we have been with and just do private pay. Piece of mind, bed side manor, and an organized pediatrician office is worth way more than some place that treats people like shit beneath the shoe! The city Health Department should investigate this place. It seems real seedy. No bueno!
