I particularly feel safe with their minimally invasive approach which tie into many of my desire to be as natural and minimally pharmaceutical as possible. I have been bringing my kids here for eight years now. They are JUST OK. My main reason to bringing my kids here is that it's close and grandma's or aunt's can bring them in case of an emergency while I am at work. The staff in the front are rude, they don't know anything, they show no compassion and act like they are bothered when you call. The staff in the back (those taking the weight and assisting the doctors) are extremely sweet and show a lot of compassion for the kids. The doctors are nice, but really don't resolve anything, they are quick to send your child home with antibiotics than actually resolving your child's problem. Another thing is appointments have a very long wait time. They are the best that I know in the neighborhood, that my children's grandmothers can rush to and be understood in Spanish. Had those not been one of my large criteria's for a pediatricians office, my kids would not be here. read more

Is unfortunate to say I've been coming here with my two kids for over 10 years and wish I was giving a review of who they use to be rather then who they have become... I bring my kids to this pediatrician from midtown for all these years and have recommended so many patients for their services in the past. When they first open they were attentive efficient and kind, with the proper time for each child, At some point when they started having more patient and they renovated their Location something was lost within the transition... patients are rushed and they no longer accommodate walk in and or some patients wait longer then their schedule appointment... I think they are bitting more then they can chew. I mean I think is becoming a in and out location missing the connection with patients, the doctors don't know the patients history name or personal info after so many years because they don't build that connection but they make sure the proper insurance info is always up to date... I took my kids on September 2020 for their yearly physical and the clinic saw my kids 45 min late, after their physical I asked for the school medical form to be completed and they refused to provide me with the medical form for school because of covid their delay on seeing other patients, I was very specific when I made the appointment and told them that was the ONLY reason I was taking them for a physical, the nurse said they will upload the records on the heal app which never happened so I reached out to them after a month of waiting and the school grew inpatient and requested the forms daily. The rep did apologize for the delay after all it was 4 weeks late, she send them soon after I addressed the issue but is sad they have so much patients they are lacking in providing good service like before... hopefully this review will help them make changes for the better Bc at som point they were good... they even forgot to send pharmacy prescription asthma pump and hydrocortisone, shame... staff is kind but need better system... more efficient service read more

My experience with Stages Pediatrics has been fantastic. The staff are incredibly warm and helpful every visit. Dr. Pena, despite being busy with many patients, takes time to answer all my questions and do thorough routine check-ups and examinations when my son is sick. I had a home birth and Dr. Pena respected my decision, but clear about their policy that their patients must be vaccinated for the safety of the other children (which I agree with). Both doctors give out their personal cell phone numbers and you can call anytime day or night and they will return your call within 30 minutes. Dr. Pena encouraged breastfeeding until 12 months, but when pumping at work became difficult for me and I wanted to transition partly to formula but didn't have the money (husband recently let go from his job), Dr. Pena gave me a ton of formula for free and called another office where I was able to pick up even more for free. When I recently brought my son and realized his fever went up while waiting, they immediately brought me into a room, gave me medicine to reduce his fever and Dr. Pena saw me within a few minutes. My only recommendation is to ask the staff when is the best time to come in so you don't have a long wait. I have waited 2 hours before, but I expressed my frustration with the staff and they were apologetic and helpful. Since then I haven't had an issue with the wait time. Washington Heights is blessed to have such a great pediatrician and medical and administrative staff. read more

This is an update review on the previous review from one month ago. Sharon, office manager, called to apologize for the delay in resolving the reimbursement. After a couple of weeks, I finally received the reimbursement for the initial office visit along with an apology letter. It is sad I had to resort to the BBB and social media, but I agree with Sharon that the office needs to readdress their policies for situations like this. Dr.Peña has been my kids primary care physician for months now I couldn't be happier she's the best. Every time I need to come in they able to see me the same day which is great, because not all the clinics have that. Thanks to the front desks staff Wendy and Sharon they are the best. Every visit and consultation with both Doctors has been professional and they have always gone above and beyond to exceed my needs. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. I would NOT recommend going to this Pediatricians if you are looking for excellent care for your child. I started visiting this location when my daughter was 1 and during her first appointment she was very upset (but what one year old likes to get shots?) While my child was crying it did not seem like they knew how to handle my child's mood and they were extremely unhelpful since I was there by myself (without my daughters father). I felt with their choice of profession they would have been comfortable and knowledgable on how to handle a crying child. The second appointment was supposed to be a quick "sick" check. But, there was nothing quick about it! I waited over an hour in the waiting room and other patients that arrived after me were helped before me. Again I felt like I did not receive the best care during this visit. Then my final visit was the last call and push us over the edge to seek care elsewhere. We waited for 30 minutes only to be told that our child's insurance did not cover preventive care (which we have been there multiple times in the past and there was no issue) and we knew what insurance we carried. We asked if they could still preform her well-check then we could dispute this issue with the insurance company and they stated the only way they would is if we paid cash or credit on the spot. We though that was ridiculous and walked out. We called our insurance company only to learn that they have on record that Stages called them twice and both times our insurance provider explained to them that our daughter DOES have preventive care and the insurance covers the appointment. Stages refused to admit they were wrong and argued it with me telling me multiple different stories on why they would not see my daughter. My family and I feel that we have been discriminated again since we are a different race than everyone else in the office. Not only were were unsatisfied with the care provided to us we were unsatisfied with the professional manner of the individuals that worked in this office. read more

I have known Dr. Gamundi for over 20 years. She is a compassionate and dedicated pediatric doctor. She listens attentively, has an amazing ability to make her little and young patients feel at ease, and performs her work more as a loving mother than as a mere professional. This is only for the staffs in the front desk, I call a day before to make an appointment and ask information and I was specific about my newborn didn't had insurance I was waiting for it and that if they can see me because in the hospital had told me to to take her even if she didn't had insurance they have to see her is the law. They told me to come and that it was not a problem, next day I was there and I told them again about i was going to be seen because of the insurance they said yes just sing and give us your information so I did next i go to them to give them everything and they where like give me the insurance information I was I told you she don't have I'm waiting for one my newborn was only two weeks old. So they told me to pain and they went they get the insurance information they would try for them to pay and after they could give me my money back. I told them why they didn't tell me that the day I call and they where that no one call yesterday. I told them where I call give them the number where I call and they try to tell me that the was not the place that I call the wrong number and place so I call in front of them and the call went in so they said that they don't know how that happen so they just waisted my time and I paid for parking too. Just don't waist your time and money there plus there were a lot of people. If the doctors are hoood they should get better staff. read more

Understaffed and Too Many Patients!! Took my son here for a couple years. An average wait time for a scheduled visit was 30 minutes to an hour, an hour and a half to two hours if you were a walk in. However, the main reason for this review is due to a certain staff member's lack of compassion. I'll paint you a picture....it's Friday at 4:45pm and your child (out of the blue) starts crying. The kind of cry when you know something is very wrong. I call the doctors office and tell them that I need to bring my son in right away. Now my child is crying so loud she can hardly hear me. She first asks me how far away I live. I tell her not too far. She tells me, "the reason I ask is because we close in ten minutes" I tell her that I will get there asap but I will not be there in ten minutes, probably more like 15-20. She responds, "well, I don't know what to tell you. You need to get here asap cause we are closing in ten minutes". I am shocked!! She couldn't tell me "no problem, we will be here when you get here" ?!? To make a long story short, I had to take my child to the emergency room. Two and a half hours later we see a doctor. Doctor takes 3 minutes to diagnose my son with an ear infection. (Oh and I just received a $440 bill from the hospital. ) I called the office on Monday to speak to someone about the receptionist's conduct. They took my message with all of Fridays details and I've yet to receive a phone call. Seems like either they don't care or they're spreading themselves way too thin. The one positive about this office, is there were a few ladies that work there that were very nice and actually seemed liked they cared about their patients. They will be missed. read more
