As far as I know this is the 2nd prison i've visited my father at. Between the first (approximately…read more9yrs ago) and here; this is one was much smoother as far as processing. The parking lot was fairly big. It didn't seem to far from the Friends Outside center located at the end of the parking lot. Upon approaching the visitor processing center you a greeted by a guard who is checking in visitors by the time of appointment. He was not bothered by my billion questions regarding mine and my grandmother's appointment time. We arrive 2 hours earlier so we knew there would be a wait if we couldn't be processed sooner. There were benches outside so we sat there as we waited. We waved in within 35 minutes. Entering the processing center there was a line for you to turn in your paper slip. Once you've done so you take a seat to wait to have the last name of the inmate you are visiting, called. That was like in 5 minutes. Unfortunately I had to have my bra fixed in order for me to enter but that was my fault. CO's were thorough and informative of what was needed and what to correct by the next visit. Minus 1 star because vending machines holding the food were bare. Although i'm not fond of my father my grandma was looking forward to buying him a lot of crap. Lol. She didn't get too. Machines were stocked at 1 which after that they called people up by inmate names but i'm not sure if they were making a lost or not it was 2 when we left so we didn't get to get anything after the re-stock aside from more sodas.

First lets be clear, I give it 3 stars because, It Is A Jail! I can not give a jail 5 stars…read more Nobody like jail. But having said that, it is getting the highest rating I would give any jail. I have gone here to visit a person several times. The staff are always friendly and quick. They have even started my visit early because I was there early. From the time I walk in the door to the time I start my visit has been often less then ten minutes! That is quick. But I will point out that many times I have been the only person there to visit someone. And I think that is terrible for the people in there, but good for me. I should note that the visits are not in person, They are via video calling. They have many booths set up , you will be assigned a booth, you go there and wait to see your friend show up on the video, then you pick up the phone handset and begin your visit. The cameras could use some adjusting and maybe put in taller chairs, because to sit properly in the chair the inmate only sees the top half of my head. I have to sit up higher to get into frame better. But I could see my friend just perfect. So visiting it really just "real time, controlled, video calls. they last 45 mins. There is a count down clock running in the upper right corner. PROS So to sum it up. Quick sign, Quick start times, Friendly staff Clean facilities, Bathroom available Drinkable water CONS It IS a jail It is NOT face to face cameras need better pointing It IS a Jail! Search is always possible Deputies everywhere can only bring Keys, ID and Facemask IT'S JAIL It is what it is! Hope this is helpful

I lived there for several years. 2001-2005. It was a really horrible place to be. You might think…read more"Well, THAT'S PRISON!" so I will elaborate. First off it's in the freakin desert with no air conditioning. At times it was literally in the 120s but it gets even hotter and more humid with all the concrete and gravel. Every summer several inmates would fall out due to heat exhaustion. The concrete temps outside were in the 130s The guards in the buildings can stay tucked away in their offices where the windows are literally fogged completely up because of the difference. Guards constantly antagonize and attempt to break up your program to make life miserable. They will keep yards and entire races "ethnicities" on complete lockdown for no other reason than to make the guards life/"work" easier. Denying people the ability to maintain healthy connections to the outside world. They under feed you as well. Studies have even shown that inmate populations are far less violent when they are fed adequately. I don't mean the inmates need more tastier foods but rather more calories so people aren't starving that can't supplement their state allotment. It's literally insane. Fights daily and multiple stabbings weekly. I was involved in riots. 99% of the guards don't even see you as human. This is just off the top of my head and I left and never went back over 13 years ago. Naturally the guards told me they'd look forward to seeing my "stupid ass when I come back!" We'll the jokes on them because their the ones doing the time with their 12 hour shifts. I guess their okay with wasting half their lives there for all the money they make being a part of the state largest and most powerful union. Kiss my ass guys! T35285 PS I forgot to mention the 1800ish inmates per yard designed to house a 1000. $$$

Let me say from the point of the entrance everyone there was so nice & patient with me. The officers were nice as they should be since I'm a visitor. I had heard horror stories that they treat people rude & are disrespectful so I was scared, but that was not my experience. I hope when I go again I get the same experience.

The same "officer"…read moreevery week makes it her purpose to make my visit stressful (like it isn't enough) BE VERY AWARE OF THE DRESS CODE because depending on her mood she will make you go back and forth in the heat. Instead of telling you EVERYTHING that isn't acceptable, she tells you piece by piece, making you go back and forth between the car or the trailer ACROSS THE ENTIRE PARKING LOT. It got to the point where I would just bring multiple outfit in the truck just Incase (which I ALWAYS NEEDED). Then finally I just started recycling pre-approved outfits (aka, shit I've already worn before) and now those are not acceptable either. It's almost like she's purposely making me miserable to ruin my visit EVERY WEEK. Don't believe me, went for a visit this weekend and she was NOT there and guess what, I got in with no wardrobe issues. SURPRISE, SURPRISE ! Staff really needs a meeting on how they should treat people visiting. We're just coming to see our love ones. It's hard enough without having to deal with rude officers
