Parking is still very unreasonable for the size of the community it serves. However, the line issue has been addressed.

Was here for jury duty. Just plain don't like the place or the concept of 'civic duty.' The line to enter was around the corner of the building. The security screening process could be improved by adding additional queue lanes. The building interior seems overall clean, but the restrooms were filthy even though the center had only opened a half hour before I tried to drop a dookie. The vending machine was nearly empty, and there were some shady characters lurking in the hallways. Some lady next to me right now is trying to pour soup from a thermos into a small cup and it's very annoying. read more

A nasty highway "patrol" had pulled me over in Indio TWO YEARS ago. It's the only time I never received a notice in the mail. TWO YEARS later I get a letter that said I never showed up to court and that I had to pay a civil assessment fee. Why the hell didn't they send me a letter saying when my court date was? ANYTHING that has to do with the Inland empire is pure toxic, and this is the worst police department and court I've had the displeasure of dealing with. Goes to show how humans can behave when left mismanaged. I've always hated anything related to the inland empire. read more

It is bad enough my wife got called in for jury service during this pandemic, but now the court has been playing Ping-Pong with prospective jurors. Her first day was Tuesday and after three hours, she was dismissed and asked to return Thursday. She arrived and just about did an immediate U-turn while being asked to come back on Friday. Tuesday and Thursday there was alleviated parking situations with plenty of room for spacing of bodies inside. Today, everyone was PACKED like sardines with the 6-foot requirement getting thrown out the window. Then after being there for 30 minutes, the bailiff comes out stating that the attorney's are at each other's throats, come back on Monday. Various citizens were upset with the to and fro' from their homes, as well as having the threat of the virus amongst them when it is obvious they screwed the pooch on Friday. Otherwise, her lack of allowing male attorneys to finish their arguments and her lack of knowledge regarding Erikson's stages of development and what is best for teenagers is lackluster. She seems quick to offer her judgements without considering all arguments. How can she when she is constantly interrupting male attorneys and prevents them from finishing their statements. read more

The phone call in the system for potential jurors is a virtual waste of time. I don't have Covid based on a home test but I have all of the symptoms and I don't think anyone would want to sit next to me coughing and sneezing, all day, but I'm sure that they would excuse me once I show up. Even though the instructions say"if you have coughing and sneezing Covid like symptoms, don't report. " But you need to tell somebody -you can't just not show up, or face some penalty. So I've done a home test and I'm negative for Covid, but I have all of the symptoms I've tried calling in on the phone system and whenever I get to the point that it says "if you'd like to speak to a jury representative hit zero" and every time I call during the work week, during working hours 9 AM to 4 PM. It doesn't matter when I call, it always says the office is closed . It's a terrible phone system and somebody must be working so I have to drive 30 minutes or so to get to the courthouse tomorrow Just so that they'll see that I'm really sick and then I'll have to drive home instead of trying to see my doctor instead. On top of that, I spent a week in November at the courthouse, waiting to be chosen or not l, and finally on Thursday I was released from service. And then I got another notice to appear - now it's only three months difference. I always expected that you had 12 months before you might be called again. What gives in SoCal? read more

Summoned for Jury Duty for only one day. Due to covid, you only need to come for half the day (my start time was at 12pm and I was dismissed at 4:30pm). There are only like 30 parking spots for jurors even though there are 100 potential jurors at a time. Unless you come super early, then you will be parking behind the parking structure (free 4-hr public parking that's a 5 minute walk to the main entrance). The parking structure costs money, so don't park there. There were 3 security guards at the entry: 1 security guard is looking at the x-ray scanner; the other has a portable scanner; the other says to put your metal stuff in the basket. There's an information guy right after the security checkpoint; and this guy knows everyone is here for Jury Duty so he'll tell you to go to the 2nd floor and walk all the way to the end of the building. The chairs in the Jury waiting room are nice: padded and wide. There are 2 small tables that sit 2 people each. The other 200 chairs are just lined up in rows (due to covid, you will be sitting every other seat). There's a connecting open area next to the Jury waiting room; and if you keep walking, there's a cafeteria-like tables with a vending machine. There a 42-inch TV mounted in the center of the Jury waiting room, and the TV has good sound; they were playing channel HDTV (aka the home improvement channel). I did see some people come in late because they had an excuse. One lady said she was super sick and had a doctor's note; she said she's been trying to call by phone but no one is picking up (other Yelp reviews say this complain also). There were also people who couldn't speak English, so they brought their child who speaks English to translate; too bad they didn't know that these excuses are easy to complete online or by mail (on the back of the Jury Summons). I've been to Jury Duty before at a different Justice Center (had hard chairs; looks like it rarely gets cleaned). The Indio Larson Justice Center is way nicer. read more

The Honorable Kristi Hester is not one to be played with. She will not let you finish a sentence if she thinks it is irrelevant or wasting her time. She is on time for recess and lunch with no exceptions. I went before her as guardian for a female minor seeking a restraining order from her father. The teen could not articulate herself and the judge was impatient BUT the judge was also intuitive and knew the father was a dirt bag. Judge Hester allowed the child's case to be heard after first recess, through lunch and last recess. She had the CPS file with over 16 reports made on the household and all were "unfounded." The judge knew the last physical abuse took place outside of the 30 day statute of limitations but followed the bread crumbs of this child's life on paper where call after call to CPS failed to help this child. The teen was not granted a restraining order, but the judge granted a six week internal investigation into the household. It was a win! Better than the restraining order which would have only lasted three months. The child is getting the help she needs because Judge Hester is not one to be fooled. Ten stars read more

Wtf!!! We're under quarantine. Federal law requires me to not be a mile away from my house and I'm being charged. There's federal agents who stand the ground of your establishment. Who are required to have people leave the premises. Now, you're telling your interested in NOT GETTTING EDD UP! so I can get paid. BUT! I go there and I get fined again for being out of quarantine!. The Probate division a sad court. Covid-19 has made so many court officials LAZY. The female Judge is in a hurry and also very rude. Even if you take all the proof of evidence she doesn't look at it UNLESS YOU HAVE AN ATTORNEY. She has no time for intelligent people who don't feel an attorney is necessary when you have 100% of the evidence. I'm an elder and highly Intelligent and from a professional work career. Growing up in Fullerton and moving to the desert to semi-retire, was the biggest mistake I've ever made. County workers including judges don't have an idea where their incomes come from. read more

I know that people reviewing this location mix their feelings about this building up with their reasons or being here -- their traffic ticket, or drunk in public ticket, or divorce petition, or jury duty summons. I visit a lot of courthouses, and I can tell you this one is better than average. This would be five stars except for the parking. But the roomy, well designed, high tech building, with enough room for all the communities that they service, is excellent in most cases. Yes, the courtrooms are a little too crowded, and people spill into the hallways. The population has exploded since they built this courthouse. But the entry and exit is fairly easy, considering, the air conditioning works (unlike court in El Centro - don't ask). The large electronic monitors make it easy to figure out where to go and where your case is. And the elevators work (I'm looking at you, Compton!) This would be five stars except for the parking. The parking is horrible, and when you're in Indio in August, you're not in any mood in 115 degree heat, in a suit, to walk for a mile to find a spot to return to. If only there was better parking, or a golf cart shuttle service to take you to your car. read more

I had to report here last October (2018) for jury duty,back in 2007 or 8 I received a lifetime exemption in writing which I still had in my possession, but I decided I was bored and I would pull jury duty as long as it was a case I liked and I felt was interesting. first I get there and I have handicap license plates so I park in the handicap parking over by the parking structure in front of the parking structure office, immediately someone came out of the office in the parking structure and observing me carefully, as if I had committed some crime by parking their I had not. I reported to the jury room 30 minutes early and it was already about 70% full volume to seat the head empty seats on either side and I began to wait 5 minutes before the process was to begin we were notified that the authorities or not ready for us and we were told we could go get a bite to eat and come back in approximately one hour I chose to wait as the went by 5 minutes before the scheduled start time we were told there should be another delay but we were not allowed to leave this time and then a judge showed up his Name escapes me and he started talking how it is a honor and duty to pull jury duty,at this point two getto type (White) women sat on either side of me even though there is plenty of other empty seats, one of them asked me what time it was with big toothy smile I showed her my watch she acted like she couldn't read it and said could you tell me what time it is I said if you cannot read my watch I'm sorry I can't tell you ask the clerk at the desk she immediately copped an attitude. This all started about 9 a.m. by now it's almost 11 a.m. and we're told again the process is going to be delayed till after lunch at this point I pull out my get-out-of-jail-free card, lol and proceeded to tell the clerk at the desk that I am exempted from jury duty, she does not want to believe me or help me but I insist as people are streaming out for lunch half of them want to ask her questions in front of me I assist you finish assisting me first she was pissed,but and I got another exemption and she assured me I'd not be called again. If I am ever called again I'm going to tell them I'm voting guilty no matter what the facts are! read more

I went in a second day to follow up since the ball was dropped by the traffic department. Amelia, you should be ashamed. I was there 20 minutes before closing. They had one window open while 6 workers stood behind and did nothing to help the line. Apparently they think they can stop working 30 minutes early. When I tried to ask a question they rudely threatened to have a deputy escort me out. I'm writing this hoping to invoke positive change. All of those ladies (with the exception of one) should all be ashamed of yourselves. Two words, DO BETTER. You're in a position to help so please do your jobs. To the lady who took the time to listen. You are gracious and kind and I hope that your peers will learn something from your professionalism and courteousness. It definitely goes a long way. HORRIBLE COURTHOUSE , we are stuck with this court until we can move our case. And we came here to do that and collect a signed order from judge. This place just implemented a new FLAWED system where you pull a ticket and wait. Average wait time you guys is 2 to 5 hours. Today, we arrived at 2p and our number was never called. Others were still waiting and 4p struck and they shut their doors and told everyone to leave. This is worse than the DMV. We are coming from Los angeles. Money just down the drain from all aspects. The court the system isnt really helping anyone here. If you want to get things done here , call off work, get a babysitter, clear out your whole schedule for the day, arrive at 730am and prepare to WAIT. A sheriff on site informed me the last person who ran the court house just retired , so who ever you are that is now running this, CHANGE this system, it is not working for families !!!!! read more

Lol some of these reviews are a joke, don't mix your feelings of hating court with the performance of the business. Obviously nobody likes traffic court, but when the Morbidly obese woman to your right start screaming like a psycho path in the traffic line, having a security officer like Justin Horvath, and officer deputy Nelson around made me feel much better. Honestly, I've been to other courts and done jury duty in San Diego, Orange County, and Los Angeles. This place is a breeze compared to the other crap holes I've been to. This woman starts yelling because she's upset the line isn't moving faster, and Justin stepped up, and asked told her to stop yelling in a calm polite, but assertive manner, exactly how we want our security guards to act. And before I could hear the rape whistle being blown, deputy Nelson was there, calming her down and bringing peace and compliance back into order. These two lead a perfect example of how we want our government to run, compliant and efficient. Thank you Mr. Horvath, Deputy Nelson. Wonderful example you've lead. read more

Don't bother doing traffic court. Judge doesn't really seem to care what people say if the citing officer shows up. Officers are sworn in with ethics and morals but those quickly fade away for some and a testimony from anyone else is obviously wrong because it's your word against theirs. Parking is horrible. The rest of the staff is helpful. The judge who ruled the case where I served as a juror was very fair. Him and the other employees get three stars. read more

It's the city's responsibility to provide enough parking to handle the traffic they know they get. There's a three story parking structure for staff but where the hell are we supposed to park? Went to file guardianship papers in probate, but was met with hostility and rudeness by an employee named Connie. She treated me like a second class citizen, refused to help, turned me away 30 minutes to closing and said I would have to come back another day. Not caring that I lived 1 hr 30 min away and that a child's safety was in question! She was the rudest person I've ever met and she even stated "It's not my job to staple!" Really, there was no one in the office and yet she wouldn't staple paper! Formal complaint on its way! read more

Jury duty: when you call the number to determine if you've been selected for duty, there is a looooooong message you are forced to listen each and every time with regards to where they are located, parking, directions, court instructions and an array of other irrelevant information. The problem is when you have to call every single night for the one week you are summoned, you have to go through listening to all this irrelevant message. Rather than having people go through this process, would be much better to first determine if they need to go there in the first place, and THEN provide all the loooooong instructions. read more

Yeah some of the staff are OK at this courthouse but most of them are rude and they really don't care about serving the people who pay their FKN salaries I mean come on people your ass works for the state of California where do you morons think you get your pay check from? God? US the people pay into the system so you can have a job and you can buy ur Mercedes Benz or your nice house while the rest of us deal on a day to day situation on how we are going to survive. Judges,police,lawyers at this place have this mentality that they are better then the rest of us when all of them get paid with the people's money amazing to me how this people have lost the ability to recognize to offer service not us be the one asking you for something the way the stupid out dated system was built in such a way where we the citizens are treated as a second class citizen for a ticket violation who they treat as a criminal offence or people dealing with a different range of personal matters such as divorce or child costudy issues. Awful experience on 4/19/17. I came in to Family Law to file paper work. Before I was ready to file, I asked one of the clerks a simple question. "Do I put my address or the respondents address above?" The gentlemen tells me that across from Family Law I can be helped there. I walk across and open the door. I come to find 2 ladies having a laugh and I smile because for once I see people who seem happy since everyone there is so rude. One of the ladies walks over to the front. She was Hispanic , probably in her mid 50s long black hair. Her hair was half picked up and the rest down that day. I then say " Hi, I have a question. I'm trying to file today And I wanted to know, Do I put my address here or the respondents?" Suddenly, she has a nasty attitude. I was turned off immediately. But brushed it off right away because the last thing I want to do is have a conflict with someone when I've been there all morning since 7:30 am and it is now noon. She replies rudely,"Okay, so what is the reason you are filing? " I then say "Child support." Her tone already makes me feel as if I'm a bother. She then tells me that I'm the respondent and points to my paper work, and says " You would put your address here. The court will stamp their's here." " You need to put the respondents name here." " Now, is there anything else?" I kindly tell her "No, all I wanted to know is where I put the address, thank you. Have a nice day." Her tone then changes with "Thank you, you too." I don't understand why people here have such attitude. If your not happy with your job go somewhere else. All I know is next time if I'm treated by a rude employee I will be asking for a supervisor. I only gave one star because that was the only way it could be posted. read more
