I've had horrible storage facility experiences in the past but was impressed by my experience with this facility. The main item being, I didn't even need to interact with anyone to get this handled. We already had enough going on, so this convenience was VERY appreciated. After a quick yelp search, Buckeye State Storage popped up. I noticed they were literally minutes from Cleveland State which was super convenient for my cousin. I immediately went onto their website and reserved their move-in special, a 10x10 for $99. I instantly received a gate code, room #, and my cousin already had her own lock from the past that she held onto. She dropped her stuff off 20 minutes later. That was easy!

He was professional, helpful, and made the experience pleasant on a personal level. However, my issue is with the company's pricing practices, which felt like a clear bait-and-switch. I initially signed up under a promotional offer that provided a reduced rate for the first three months, with the understanding that it would then move to a set standard rate. However, before the promotional period even ended, I received notice that my rate would increase--by nearly 38% above the agreed-upon post-promotion rate. As a result, I didn't even receive a full month at the standard rate I originally agreed to before being hit with a significant increase. That feels misleading and undermines the terms presented at signup. Overall, it gives the impression that the company relies on promotional pricing to attract customers, only to quickly raise rates to offset those discounts.

After renting a storage…read moreunit at this location and storing a large amount of items in it for six months, all items in the unit disappeared. The items were either stolen by thieves or by the management of this facility. Rent was always paid for. Everything in the unit was gone, and the entire space had been swept out. The management of this facility cooperated with local law enforcement (Medina County Sheriff), however, the case was never solved and none of the items in the unit were ever recovered. Estimated value of items in the unit? $30,000 or more. The security at this location was horrible. There was one single camera that recorded vehicles entering and exiting the front gate. The quality of this camera did not capture license plate numbers. The fence near the storage unit in question was also broken and opened at the time the crime was discovered. This was a horrible experience and major, major financial loss. Anyone looking to rent a secure storage unit in the Medina/Akron area should be advised to steer clear of this facility. Beware.
