Tried to call during operating hours and no one picks up. Seeing other reviews makes me feel uncomfortable to send my child here.

Pasadena Park Healthcare and Wellness Center - Outside, February 2025 after Eaton fire

Pasadena Park Healthcare and Wellness Center

(36 reviews)

When my Auntie, a fiercely independent former career-woman who was still living alone at 87, fell…read moreand broke her hip in January, I was gravely concerned about her entering a nursing home. We had tried to support her living alone as long as she could, but that was no longer possible. We choose Pasadena Park Health Care primarily because its location allowed us to see her often and keep an eye on her. We didn't realize how lucky we were to have made that decision. For the first 3 months especially, we tried to help her transition. We were frequent visitors and had the chance to see for ourselves the kind of care she was receiving. The aids were patient and polite as well as capable. Everyone was friendly and upbeat. She made tremendous progress at physical therapy, and began walking regularly, something she had never done at home. She seems relieved to have the burden of cooking taken from her, enjoys her meals, and has even gained back a few pounds. I think her favorite time of day is when she hears the food carts rolling down the hall! She likes the food, and doesn't have to cook it! The staff is very sensitive to what can be a difficult stage in an independent persons life. Zev, the administrator, has always gone out of his way to keep us informed of any change in her mood or needs, and I'm eternally grateful for that kind of great communication. Covid has, of course, placed increased demands on us all, and because of the lock-down, we were afraid she might lose hope in such forced isolation. But they had a "tele-visitor" system in place to encourage us to video conference on a regular basis, and I think it's maintaining that contact that has done the most to boost her morale and quiet our fears. I know she's safer here than at home alone, and I know she's getting the medical attention she needs to be comfortable and maintain her strength. When this Covid nightmare is over, we'll be back to seeing her again in person. In the meantime, I can sleep at night knowing she's getting excellent care in a safe and warm environment.

The Friday that I checked out I demanded my bag of new medicine & it took several Staff members an hour & half to finally locate the meds before I was discharged. I reported numerous Issues to the Nursing director while I was there (wheeled myself thru hall). Also Alerted the Administrators. I Was so happy to leave. .

This provider specializes in physical and occupational therapy for the hands. I've also had physical therapy through UCLA for my hands, but they really didn't do much of anything other than massage my hand. In contrast, Thera-ex staff made a detailed assessment of my hand and gave me specific exercises for my hand, wrist, and finger joints, including my thumb. I go twice a week and they apply a warm compress, have me do the exercises, apply ultrasound therapy, and give me a massage. These treatments do a lot to relieve my pain, which usually is much diminished for the rest of the day after my appointment. Additionally, all of the assistants, technicians, and providers are extremely professional, warm, communicative, and courteous. In fact, I think this may be the most courteous medical facility of any kind that I have ever frequented, and I have been to A LOT. I have a very complicated medical history and sometimes have up to 10 medical appointments a month. I have 10 different specialists handling my care and frequently since receive referrals to others. I have run into my fair share of hostile, discourteous, and disorganized medical offices. I am happy to say that it is always a pleasure to visit Thera-Ex. I have been there about eight times and have a lot more visits to complete. If you need occupational therapy for your hand, I highly recommend this place.

Communication with parents has been almost nonexistent, and it feels like the focus is more on money than on patient care. The therapy sessions, which were once thorough and beneficial, are now rushed and too short to truly meet my son's needs. This is especially difficult when running late, as there's no flexibility or understanding. Their late cancellation policy is unreasonable, demanding cancellations 24 hours in advance, but it's nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone. Today was the final straw. My son showed up for his scheduled appointment, only to find out that it had been canceled. There was no call, no voicemail, no communication beforehand. This left my son confused and upset, as he couldn't understand why he wasn't seen for his session. It's incredibly frustrating to waste time and gas when services aren't provided as expected. Despite the great work of my son's therapist, I can no longer trust the company. It's clear they're more focused on profits than providing quality care to families. I would NOT recommend Recess Therapy to anyone.

She has truly been a light throughout our special needs journey -- kind, patient, professional, and always believing in our daughter's potential. Thanks to Ms. Jess' guidance, our daughter's receptive language has blossomed. She understands so much more and engages with the world around her in beautiful new ways. We continue to work together on expressive communication, and every step forward is a victory we celebrate together. What sets Ms. Jess apart is her genuine dedication. She goes above and beyond to learn more about our daughter's AAC device and Proloquo software, making sure she can communicate in ways that feel natural and empowering. She takes time to individualize every activity and helps us as parents feel confident continuing those strategies at home. Ms. Jessica's compassion, creativity, and commitment make her one in a million. For any family seeking an exceptional speech therapist who truly cares, I can't recommend her enough.

Elena Vogel was my lactation consultant, Dr. Kolleen Gregory was our infant chiropractor, and Dr. Choi is currently our pediatric dentist. Dr. Nguyen evaluated Adam the morning after I gave birth. He wasn't able to latch all night so she came to the hospital and said he had a tie. I was adamant about breastfeeding so after we were cleared by our doctors, we checked out on the second day and went straight to our appointment with Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Choi. Dr. Choi, who did the laser treatment on his tie actually found that it was much tighter than they originally thought, so I'm thankful I did it. It was a few seconds and it was done. Adam cried and truthfully screamed a bit, but stopped the second it was done. He had already settled down by the time he was back in my arms and we went home. The post-op care was heavily stressed by Dr. Nguyen. She was very thorough and careful when explaining how to do his oral stretches. She emphasized that the post-op care wasn't just his mouth, but his whole body. She was so incredibly knowledgeable on how the body functions as a whole and how it all ties together, so the movement and stretching of his mouth and entire body is all important. I'll be honest and say that I didn't want to do any of it because my cooter was healing and I was still in pain from just coming home from giving birth. It was all very fresh. But I looked at my baby and decided I'm his mom and this is my responsibility. Every single day for the next 3 months, I set aside the bare minimum of 5 minutes but realistically it took 15 minutes to do thorough movement for my son. I put in the work. I took videos and sent them to Dr. Nguyen and she would give me feedback. Call me crazy but my son was and is an "easy" baby. Be it a blessing of luck with a combination of effort and work, I see results. He eats a variety of foods, hitting all his milestones, and developing beautifully. I can't wait to have another baby lol.
