My little one had an enjoyable time seeing and hearing all the animals and walking around the gardens! We saw cows, pigs, piglets, oxen, chickens, goats, sheep, bees, rabbits, and peacocks. You can even pet most of them! There were many handwashing stations available. The garden was fun to walk around and see all the labeled flowers, fruits and vegetables growing. I love coming to this farm. I always come when I'm at the OC fair. The animals are probably my favorite part. I really like to see the crops they grow here. It's interesting to see how they set up the section of peppers, herbs, berries, gourds, pumpkins, melons, etc. The sunflower rows are really pretty. Never had a bad experience here. read more

I don't see how anyone could give this less than 5 stars. First of all it's FREE. Name one other place in OC that offers an experience like this for $0. Second of all it has quite a large range of animals, i'm happy they titled it a Farm and not a Zoo because that's exactly what it is. I take my toddlers here very very often and they love seeing the babies, the plants and the food grow. Lots of farm animals to see; oxen, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, bunnies. Many of them you can pet. I strongly recommend encouraging kids who have been around farm animals to be gentle and quiet if they want the animals to be calm and not run away from them. This is wonderful place to take kids to explore how a farm works, plus so much more. A popular place for school field trips, it can be a bit crowded on certain days, with long lines for some attractions-- like petting chicks or seeing baby pigs. We were lucky to experience a lot of fascinating exhibits, including the handwork weaving, beekeeping, and our favorite, the oxen. When we went it was a self-guided event, so you could choose what to visit and when, with experts explaining things. We really enjoyed petting the goats, sheep, pigs, cows, and chicks. Their garden was filled with a large variety of fruits and vegetables, and you could take home a radish to plant. There's a picnic area or a lawn to hang out in, with goats and llamas grazing on a nearby hill. We zipped through in a couple of hours, but could have stayed longer. read more

How i never knew about this Farm located inside the Oc Fairgrounds. I know they had it during OC Fair. Pretty cool free farm entrance. If i have known sooner. I'd bring the kids here sooner. We were able to do a free radish potting w educational staffs teaching us. They have chickens, sheeps, pigs & cows to name a few farm animals to view & learn about. Flowers and fruits planted here. Big Millennium Red Barn to check out and learn. When we went, it was on a rainy day. There was a lot of students there also having a field trip. So it's still open on rainy days. Parking is free. My son loved it. It's small and cute which is perfectly fine for my one year olds imagination. He was just in "aww" for the little petting area. It's a free admission for a short and small adventure with your little ones. Sometimes you can't just leave kids at home to their own devices, and this is a happy medium for being outside and still having a great time. My baby sister loved seeing the animals. You can even pet the goats and sometimes the piglets. The oxen are really a sight to see, and I loved that the farm had them because they're exclusive to Asia! Please check the Centennial Farm Calendar for opening hours (currently 1 PM to 4 PM on Monday to Friday & 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturday and Sunday). [Admission]: No charge for admission & reservation not required. Our party was able to talk into the farm and I didn't see any staff during my short 15-minute visit. [Parking]: No charge for parking and available through Gate 1 off of Fair Drive in Costa Mesa & park in Lot B (adjacent to Centennial Farm and Heroes Hall); however I did pay $12 for the event parking (for the Tet Festival) so I am not sure whether free parking is still available when there's an event going on. [Animals]: Our party saw plenty of pigs, sheep, and cows. There's a sign asking visitors to wash hands after any animal or pen contact. Our kid loved the animals! It was a nice little farm with all that you could expect. There were all sorts of animals like pigs, cows, and goats. The pigs just gave birth not too long ago and you could see all the new piglets, which was such a cool sight to see. The gardens were amazing and something truly to aspire to as a home garden. ***a place for all them city folk to learn about farm life*** On January 14, 2020, I had the opportunity to travel as a volunteer chaperone with my daughter's first grade class to Centennial Farm in Costa Mesa, California. This place is a bonafide, three-acre working farm in the heart of SoCal! Yeehaw, y'all! First rule of order - ALLERGY MEDICINE. Even after growing up on a farm, I never could get over hay fever quickly without medicinal help. It's better to be safe than sorry. Second, bring comfortable walking shoes that you're okay with getting scuffed up and possibly a little dirty. After all, it is a farm. I'm not sure how reservations were made for our four classrooms, but I do know they were made far in advance. There were tons of other tour groups too. The docents run a tight schedule. Our groups ate our sack lunches from home at picnic tables near the restrooms before our tour. Reasonably clean, well-stocked restrooms with plenty of stalls and sinks - some with the steps for smaller kiddos. We saw SO many animals - sheep, cows, bulls, oxen, goats, pigs, donkeys, chickens, roosters, rabbits, geese, but sadly - no baby chicks. The kiddos learned a little about milking cows.... the various stages of an unhatched chicken in an egg... and how oxen help around the farm. The students also planted their own radish seeds to take home! Our volunteer docent was nice and friendly. I just wish we would have had a bit more time learning about all of the fruits and vegetables. All of this was free to my knowledge, however, we did donate a dollar (as suggested by our first grade teachers) to help the farm out a little. read more

Such a great place to visit. We learned to do much about the farm animals and also the vegetables/fruits that grow at the farm. My kids (ages 7 and 10) were able to walk around and read all of the informational signs. It was so much fun! We even got to see a cow being milked. We spent a few hours here and my kids haven't stopped talking about it. We will be back to visit all of the farm animals again soon. Parking was easy. And there is no entrance fee. It's a farm that's easy to walk for kids and able to see all the different fruits and vegetables they're growing as well. It's not very crowded and it's just big enough for my 3-year old to walk the whole thing and be satisfied with the amount of animals he saw. We spent about 30-45 minutes there and saw everything...could easily do it faster. They also have plenty of hand-washing stations throughout the farm. Great free activity! read more

I went with one of my kid's classes for a field trip. As far as I could tell it was a great field trip and a good experience for the kids. They have chickens, cows, pigs, goats and sheep. They are a working farm so they have some sales of produce and things. The people there seemed pretty nice but kinda just going through the motions because they do basically the same thing over and over and over for kids year after year. For a one-time visit though, I'd say it was pretty fun and just enough to see and do. The OC Fair is also held here and other events so the parking is massive. The fair was pretty fun but like most fairs, I would only really go once because they are overpriced for everything. There WAS at least one day that veterans could go for reduced or free though, so that was nice. read more

And I have 22 in my class. Yes, Im crazy, taking that many 5 year olds, but those 22 5 year olds have soooooooo much fun and talk about it for weeks. Not only does my school go, but so does several other schools. So be prepared to see lots of kids. And be okay with it. So, its kind of tricky. They have these days, called Discovery days, where they open the farm for self guided tours for groups/fieldtrips, to tour the crops, animals, barns, incubators, milking areas, ect. You do need a reservation for this. Its completely FREE. Other than that, you have to go during their operating hours. The farm, itself, is located at the OC Fairgrounds events area and is usually open daily for the general public from 1pm till 4pm, and 9am till 4pm on weekends. Its accessible during the OC fair, and during the swap meet. So if you've been to the fair or the swap meet, you will find it easy peasy. Plus its FREE to see the farm. Free, free, free!!!! This place is a hands on, working farm that has a ton of livestock, a garden, picnic areas, a barn, baby chicks, ect. Very cool place to educate youth about the rich agriculture Orange County used to be based upon. Sometimes they have take home veggies for sale based on donations. Check out the website for to date births, especially when the weeeeee little piggies arrive. But, I warn you, you may never eat bacon again. If you dont have kids, its still fun to take your date around looking at all the livestock and baby animals, cracking jokes and posing with the furry creatures, walking through the little corn field, looking at pumpkins, during the season. How could I rate this farm anything but 5 stars? First of all, admission is free! Parking is free! There are animals everywhere, beautiful plants and fruit trees throughout the entire property, kind workers, and educational information on nearly every enclosure. On a random weekday, my family and I decided to visit the farm - we were a bit confused because this farm was located right by the OC Fairgrounds. However, once we entered -- we walked into a different world! First of all, the farm animals were adorable. Some of them are raised for wool, others are raised for food (eggs, meat). The animals all appear healthy and tame. I also enjoyed seeing all the rabbits and chickens. I wish they had a petting zoo that I could pay extra to visit. Considering that animals have to poop and pee in their enclosures, the staff does a pretty good job keeping everything relatively clean. The fruit trees were so healthy and all appropriately labeled. My father has a strong interest in growing food in our garden, and it made me happy to see how much he was enjoying the farm. It was fun seeing how food is grown (from squash to vegetables to fruits), and I gained a deeper appreciation for all the work that goes into feeding all of us! This is a perfect field trip for children, but is also so enjoyable for adults. I'll definitely be back to visit in the spring when the babies are born. read more

We took a field trip to Centennial Farm in November. It is a small farm perfect for toddlers and young children. My son enjoyed looking at the farm animals however they did not have a petting or feeding area. Which was fine with me. They have a milking demonstration which is fun an educational. My son and I loved all the crops the farm have. You can also take home some already picked vegetation for a nominal donation. My son, who is 3 really enjoyed radish planting. Probably because he was able to play in the dirt. Some tips: bring your own food they have picnic tables and they don't have a small concession area. Bring water, there are no drinking fountains and it can get pretty warm. Even in the fall, it is the OC. read more

the farmer asked for a special needs kid to be removed from the group in front of the whole class and in the most cruel way , yelling and screaming. when we told her he is special needs she said I know. if they are not ready to deal with kids then please don't welcome school and cause kids trauma. she set the tone for the rest of the class to bully him. he was asked to eat lunch alone when the whole class took photos and he never received his plant like the other kids. read more

I came with a school durning the tour hours. I am an aid for the class so I was asked to come to help with some of the students. When we showed up there was 13 kids, 1 parent , the teacher and me. We were told we only can have 2 Adults (it would have been nice to know a head of time) so I had to sit on a bench and wait till the tour was over (1.5 hrs) I asked Teresa (I believe her name was )how come I couldn't join the tour and they told me if we have 15 kids we can have 3 chaperone (2 more kids) I asked if I can donate money so I can join and hey said no.. It's frustration because it wasn't like we needed 5 or more kids, we only needed 2.. and I offered to pay.. and as I sat on the bench there was a group of 11 with 1 teach and 3 parents.. read more

We came here on a weekend and since we told the parking clerks that we were here for the farm they didn't charge us for parking there was also a fair going on across the lot. At first sight you think the farm is closed since there was only a few people. We entered through the back and then we saw all the vegetables and farm animals! It was one of the cleanest farms I have ever seen. They had a few of every different type of farm animal from peacocks, rabbits, goats, cows, pigs and best of all piglets! cool lil farm right next to the ole swap meet. Learning about farm life and agriculture I think is a very important thing that should be taught to youngsters but alas I am not an educator. Any who this is a nice lil learning type adventure at the farm. I know I used to bring the lil ones and have em see the various farm critters and they got a fun time out of it. Rude and unaccommodating staff - if you can even reach a human being on the phone during business hours. It's too bad, because the idea of a "farm" so nearby is appealing.
