I had breakfast here with friends a few days ago. First, the restaurant is beautiful, classy, roofed but open in the front (no worries, Guadalajara has wonderful weather), you're greeted by a gorgeous old carriage, and by staff dressed in traditional charro attire. The menu is extensive, offering a variety of chilaquiles and many other entrees. There are red, green, mole, poblano, and other kinds of chilaquiles from which to choose. I had some with egg, and extra grated cheese and loved it. The ambience is casual but nice. You could go dressed up or casual and fit in. I would have taken more pictures, but I didn't want to be rude to my hosts who invited me. If you like Mexican food and chilaquiles, if you are ever in Guadalajara you need to ensure Los Chilaquiles is on your list of places to go. The service we experienced was first rate. They are located on Avenida Patria in between the Andares Shopping Center and the Plaza Universitaria. There is valet parking.

Food Review: Los Chilaquiles - Guadalajara, Jalisco…read more On my recent visit to Los Chilaquiles, located right in the heart of Guadalajara, I arrived a bit past the traditional breakfast hour, but I was seriously craving some good huevos rancheros and a comforting café de olla. Thankfully, both absolutely hit the spot. Café de olla is a classic Mexican coffee traditionally brewed in a clay pot (olla), infused with cinnamon and sweetened with piloncillo--a deep, rich unrefined cane sugar. The result is a warm, aromatic, slightly spiced cup that feels like a hug from Mexico itself. Their version was delicious. To complement it, they offered me conchas con nata, which was such a treat. Conchas are iconic Mexican sweet breads known for their soft, airy interior and crunchy shell-like topping. Nata is the thick, silky cream that forms when fresh milk is gently simmered--rich, smooth, and perfect for spreading. Together, it's a simple but heavenly pairing. Right away, I noticed that the atmosphere of the place feels warm and inviting--relaxed, friendly, and full of that authentic Guadalajara charm that makes you want to stay a little longer. The service matched the atmosphere perfectly: attentive, kind, and genuinely welcoming. They started me off with a trio of homemade salsas, along with Mexican crema, queso cotija, and a crunchy homemade tostadita. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtful. As I looked around, I even noticed photos of well-known personalities who have visited, which makes sense--the food and experience truly stand out. Overall, Los Chilaquiles delivered amazing flavors, excellent service, a great atmosphere, and that authentic touch that makes breakfast in Guadalajara unforgettable. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

We went to the downtown location in Guadalajara and my grandma fell and hit her head and scraped her knee due to a nail and step that blends in with the floor. When my mom was asking the general manager to call someone(my grandma is 75 and we were worried because of how hard the fall was) she responded by telling us we're not in United States and wanted to kick us out. That comment was so ignorant, unprofessional, and lacks empathy. There was two other women and a man who came to check on my grandmother and also stated they tripped on the same step coming in and almost fell. The waiters where kind and so helpful towards my mom and grandmother. When we were waiting for the paramedics the general manager even accused us of "trying to get money from them". I hope they get that step fixed or at least a sign placed and I hope management gets a lesson on how to be professional instead of skewing ignorant accusations.

It is typically served on New Year's Eve to celebrate the new year. This shop is more like the fast food version of pozole. I tried it because I had heard a lot about how great pozole is, but this is not the shop to really enjoy pozole. There is a mixed set of pozoles, which is like a taster for four of your favourites, but overall the dish wasn't that tasty. It wasn't horrible, but I can imagine that there's a tiny out of the way spot somewhere nearby with pots cooking serving some killer pozole, this wasn't it. It's close to the touristy area of the historical center and more than a few tourists were eating there. Don't let this be the only place you try pozole when you visit Mexico. It's a much better dish than this restaurant would lead you to believe.
