DO NOT buy from Celina.
We own Indy Event Rentals and bought their tent jack about a month ago or so. Our experience with their tent jack has been beyond horrible. This tent jack is going to really hurt someone.
The tent jack has a multitude of issue, with one being more dangerous than them all.
Let's start with the winch. The winch I received has the metal cable affixed to the front side, meaning that the metal cable rubs against the raised area (where the cable is affixed to the winch) every time the winch is rotated through a full cycle. This causes the wire cable to unnecessarily fray, causing sharp needle-like extrusions where the splintered threads of the greater cable can stick you like a needle. (I've been stuck twice, believe me it's miserable).
This also means that when the cable is under tension, sometimes it gets stuck under the area the cable is affixed in the winch, and causes the winch to not unravel the cable when you are rotating the handle to bring the tent down.
Now let's talk the pulley. The groove of the pulley that came in ours wasn't even wide enough to fully house the cable. The cable just rode on top of the pulley and jumped/walked out repeatedly back to back because of this. I had to spend over $100 to buy a NEW PROPERLY SIZED pulley that the cable actually fit into. We also had to add washers to BOTH SIDES of the pulley because pulley was so loose that it would wobble further increasing the chances that that cable came out of the pulley.
After making these changes, today's experience with their tent jack was completely unacceptable and they should stop selling this jack because it's going to hurt or kill someone.
Me and my partner were taking down a 40x hex tent with it, and as we were lifting the frame the cable walked out of the pulley near the VERY TOP of the jack. This wedged the cable between the pulley side face and the pulley enclosed and essentially meant we were stuck with this tent frame in the air and the jack AND frame had to fall to get this down. This happened EVEN THOUGH WE SPENT TIME TO FIX IT!! This jack is such garbage that even after improving it ourselves as the customer, it STILL is inoperable and in this case created a very dangerous situation. The frame is 9-10 feet in the air and the jack is holding the weight but stuck at this height.
We had to start taking apart the frame with some of the frame in the air until the tent jack would collapse in turn dropping the remainder of the frame, and the tent jack fell on the frame and canopy on the way down.
Celina even fully refunded my purchase once I brought the first issues to them, which was appreciated, but the situation that this jack caused today was very dangerous as it created a scenario where the jack and frame needed to fall and if it fell on me or my crew we likely would have been severely injured.
Mark said that he's never had complaints with this jack before, but I can assure you this jack will make your life absolutely miserable, and it is likely going to cause you or your crew to get hurt because of how poorly it's designed.
We will NEVER be buying anything from Celina Tent ever again after this. They continue to sell this jack despite the many safety issues that it has, so I no longer trust them.
Do not buy from this company. We are less than 2 hours away and they would've been the easiest and most local vendor for us to use as we grow rapidly over the next 1-3 years, but as of now Celina is no longer on our radar and we will operate as if they are not a vendor in our industry. read more
