I don't write reviews...actually, I never have before. But, if I can save one traveler from a deplorable experience like this, it will be worth my time. I was one of six guests that was left at Maryhill Winery for a concert on 08/11/17. We got off to a rocky start due to the constant change in times when we were supposed to report for the bus to take us to the concert...one couple just made it. In speaking with other guests, several were perplexed at how disorganized the concert shuttle process seemed. But, once on the bus headed toward our destination, we were told it would leave 15 minutes after the show ended. Directly after the show commenced (we were six rows from the stage) we moved as quickly as we could to our pick-up location working through a venue of 4000 people. We happily made it to the "pick up point" at precisely 12 minutes after the last song. One small problem: the bus was already gone and, to my surprise, two other couples missed it, too. I knew if six people missed it, there must be a mistake and clearly a logical explanation. We called the Celilo Inn and they apologized profusely and said they would send the busses right back. A security guard at Maryhill actually said Celilo Inn has stranded guests at the concert venue before. A half hour after this initial conversation, a hotel representative called me back and said the bus drivers had left, refusing to go back and pick us up, and they would try to get us a taxi. This is all taking place as the winery was deserted, the wind was howling, and we were literally the last people in the parking lot. Another half hour later, I called the hotel again. They said they were having trouble getting us a ride, and I stated we knew this, for we tried to call a taxi ourselves. Finally, 1 hour and 15 minutes later, the hotel called again and said they found us a ride. Much to my surprise (but not really after this fiasco), and 1.5 hours later, an old Dodge caravan showed up,which wasn't a taxi, a Lyft, or an Uber...it was a complete stranger with no credentials. He said he was contacted by Celilo to pick us up. Not only was he un-credentialed, and a little sketchy himself, his vehicle was nearly falling apart. I know this all sounds like a dramatic and/or comedic sitcom but it's true! Well, we made it back to Celilo Inn 2 hours after the show ended. We were told upon our arrival by Tim L. that this situation would be "taken care of." But, this was only the beginning. As we headed back to our room, which we had not been in yet, the police we on the premises investigating a stolen cell phone. And, no kidding here, we actually saw a woman passed out in a doorway - half in and out of her room. Once we stepped over the drunk woman, we found a "permanent resident" who has a wolf-hybrid dog chained up outside her room. We quickly got in our door, closed the blinds, and double-checked the dead bolt. Fast-forward to the next morning. Two of the three couples who were left at the concert meet with Tim L., the manger (to my knowledge). We ask how he can possibly explain the previous night's shenanigans, and he has no answer...really, none. We also ask how we can speak to the owner, and he states that we shouldn't worry; he will call Czar (sp?) and get us "taken care of." He also states that he will call us back that afternoon with some sort of resolution. Well, not to my surprise, he doesn't call back. Today, which is the 14th, I call Tim L. (who apparently manages the Comfort Inn, too), and he states that he was just getting ready to call me?! Well, Tim further elaborates that he is, after all, not going to be able to "take care of us" as he promised before, twice. Instead, he informed me that our getting stranded was really unfortunate, but really not a big deal, as we did eventually get a ride home. I said it wasn't even a taxi or legitimate car service and was 1.5 hours late, which again, he had no answer for. I could go on and on here, but Celilo Inn could have made this situation much more palatable by simply comping something for our 1.5 hour wait, which truly was not our issue. Again, not one person missed the bus...not two...but six. Folks, if you've read my novel thus far, just be very careful of this place. In looking back this issue of stranding guests has happened before, which Tim said he couldn't quite recall. And, to not try to make any effort to remedy a wrong clearly speaks of Celilo Inn's concern for guests, repeat business, word of mouth recommendations, etc. To be frank: this place is sketchy and their follow through regarding serious situations is simply unethical and shameful. It's not just that were stranded, it was the hotel's sketchy environment and really poor customer service/follow-up. read more
