My first try Lebanese food. A friend chose this restaurant based on reviews... I couldn't make sense of menu as I didn't know what they were, my friend took time to explain each dishes. When I asked a waiter, he couldn't explain well enough for me to understand what they are. I ended up ordering fried okura lamb soup, which was actually good. Rice came as side dish and it was what I expected. I always liked rice from middle east and their rice tasted what I am used to. They brought olives and some sort of turnip pickles on the side, which I really enjoyed. I thought they were home made. Desert on the other hand was really good. They have two on the menu and we each ordered different one so we can taste both. I really liked both of them. It wasn't too sweet, but just right amount of sweetness. I liked what my friend had better, and if I have a chance to visit another Lebanese restaurant, I am going to research the food before I go. Found this place searching for a dinner option near Barnes and Nobles in the Dr Phillips Orlando area. This Lebanese restaurant was great. It was a Saturday night and we were seated right away. My husband and I decided to split a few appetizers and share a main entree and the portion size was perfect for us. The baba ghanoush appetizer with their homemade pita like bread was delicious and a must try. The mixed grill dinner was also fantastic. It came with chicken, lamb and ground beef with rice, carrots and broccoli. We were pleasantly surprised with a live belly dance performance while we were there. If you are looking for authentic middle eastern food this is the place to go. They do charge a cover fee on the weekends per person as there is a live band just fyi. They have outdoor seating and indoor seating area, I've sat in both and I prefer the outdoor seating. They have hookahs that you can get for the table, they have mouth pieces that you can change out for the germs. I would recommend the mixed grill platter it comes with chicken and beef veggies and rice. Love the hummus the tabouleh is ok I've had better. read more

Worst place ever. Had the shadiest experience -- things were added onto our bill we didn't order, and we had to go out of our way to take it off. Portions were super small and prices were just greedy for what we ordered. They also add 18% gratuity to the bill without notifying you, which is illegal in the state of Florida. This was the WORST experience I've ever had. This place tried so hard to charge me with things that I did not order. When I tried to get it fixed, the waiter gave me some silly excuse stating that he saw me order two of what I originally ordered. When I told him he could check the table himself, he proceeded to say that he couldn't fix it, that another waiter had to do it. About two minutes later, he printed a fixed receipt with an automatic gratuity of 18%. This would've been fine had this been mentioned in the menu or on the receipt itself as that is protocol in the food industry stated under Florida law in chapter 509 section 214. This restaurant is begging for a lawsuit, and the worst part is that they served Mediterranean food with broccoli wtf. read more

If you visit Orlando for theme parks, are tired of the chain restaurants, and want a different experience this is a perfect option. Cedar's is a Lebanese restaurant with a full bar and live music outside during dinner. We didn't get to enjoy the outside at atmosphere because that requires a reservation. It's usually booked due to popularity. We did not get any main dishes since we were not that hungry so three appetizers instead was enough. Sujouk, Lentil soup, and hummus topped with lamb and pine nuts. Sujouk is beef sausage sautéed with tomato and lemon juice. The juice is great for dipping the warm puffy bread you get with it. The hummus you usually get from the supermarket is always cold for necessity, but traditionally it's supposed to be warm. This Hummus with lamb on top and pine nuts was perfectly warm and delicious. The only so-so item was the lentil soup because it tasted heavily of "all spice." All of this with 2 glasses of wine made for a great dinner. The only thing that could have made it better would have been if we could have sat outside to catch the vibe created by the music. read more

This evening my fiancé and I actually came to Cedar's Restaurant by chance when a neighboring restaurant we had planned on going to was serving a fixed menu due to it being a holiday, we weren't able to get our favorites so we decided to explore other options. We were so pleasantly surprised with Cedar's and actually enjoyed it more than the restaurant we originally were going to! We are both vegan and we're a little unsure of the menu options, but the server was so kind and helped navigate us toward a perfect dinner selection. The bread they serve was hot and so delicious! I ordered the Vegetarian Platter and my fiancé ordered the Falafel and Moussaka- it was all sooo good!! Great, classy environment- perfect for a date night. Good choice for traditional Lebanese food. I'm Lebanese so I'm a tough critic, but you can't go wrong with any of the Mezze offerings.

It's been about 10 years since I've been to Cedars. The first time we went we really felt like the dishes were extremely overpriced. I noticed that they have lunch specials so we decided to try it out. Also this is one of the only vegan friendly places on restaurant row. I got the daily special which was an Okra Stew and my mom got the vegetarian platter that consisted of Babaghanoush, Hummus, Tabbouleh, 2 Spinach pie, and 2 falafels. Both dishes were $13 each and for the amount of food it was a great deal. We each ended up taking over half of it to go. We were in and out within an hour which was great because we had an appointment afterwards as well. For the lunch price and quality, this is a great option to put on rotation. The server was also attentive and considerate. Definitely will return! read more

Yesterday, myself and 2 friends came to Cedars @ 7:45pm. We had reservations and my friend wanted to share her cultural meal at a highly rated restaurant. After we were seated, we were TOTALLY IGNORED while people around us ( some that came AFTER us were served ) ! They didn't even offer us a glass of water ! After approximately 30 minutes, my friend who was embarrassed and disappointed got up to leave. I spoke to a near by waiter, about why we were leaving loud enough for others to hear. My father's family is from Lebanon. He was born in the USA close to a century ago and was the first in his family who did not marry someone from Lebanon. His widowed mother and grandmother did not mind that he was marrying an English woman, but they insisted that Mom learn how to cook Middle Eastern food--and especially Lebanese food--before the wedding day. Suffice it to say that I grew up eating a fair amount of Lebanese fair, especially raw kibbeh but also a lot of other things. The things that Mom did not make, I discovered in my youth at the Middle East in Cambridge, MA. I think I know this cuisine. I have visited Cedar's on several occasions since they opened and I have enjoyed each visit. The service is attentive, the ambiance is warm and Mediterranean and the food is good. Good, tasty and enjoyable--but not great. On my most recent visit, I took an old friend to lunch. When we arrived, we were quickly seated, as the restaurant had just opened. The waiter was attentive and made sure that our basket of pitas (Lebanese Bread as I grew up calling it) was always full. He was very service oriented and did not try to engage in conversation. I appreciated that because I had not seen my friend in close to a decade and we had a lot of catching up to do. Both my friend and I are vegetarians so we both ordered the vegetarian platter. Baba ganoush, tabbouleh, hummus, and falafel were featured and each had its own appeal. The baba was clearly the stand out selection. Smoky and perfectly blended to a wonderful consistency, it alone was a five star selection. The tabbouleh was a traditional tabbouleh that emphasized parsley. It was good but I prefer a tabbouleh that emphasizes bulghar wheat as the main ingredient. Cedar's version was good but too light for my particular taste. Like the tabbouleh, the hummus was well prepared but I found it a bit lacking in flavor. More tahini would have gone a long way to enhance the flavor. The falafel was the weakest part of the platter. There was nothing horrible about it but there was nothing remarkable either. Admittedly, I carry a personal bias when it comes to Lebanese food so I may have been unduly critical of Cedar's. Please don't get the wrong impression. Cedar's is a good restaurant and one that I will visit again. It may not be the Middle Eastern food that Mom still makes, but it is still a fun place to enjoy a good meal. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a few years now, it's right next door to my favorite Indian place in Orlando, but my fellow travelers are usually opposed to the idea because they aren't familiar with Lebanese cuisine. Fortunately this time things worked out in a way that made it the only option: they were open late! ...and we were starving! As soon as the little pita breads came to the table, they were quickly devoured. Fresh, right out of the oven; they were amazing! Then came the apps: Hummus, Tabbouleh Salad, Cheese Rolls, Chicken Livers, and Sujuk. All the apps were delicious, the Sujuk and chicken livers were a surprise with their intense flavors. I kept dipping my bread in the sauce the chicken livers were in (Yes, I know it sounds unappetizing, but trust me it's good) For my entree I ordered the beef Shwarma. Usually this tends to be thinly sliced meat that is on the dry side, but it's still something I enjoy. Here the Shwarma is larger strips that are still moist and delicious, hands down the best I've ever had. My rice and veggies were also delicious, especially when mixed all together. Desert was OK, didn't compare with the rest of the meal so I'll skip over it. I'm glad things worked out the way they did, I now have another good dining option when I return to the area. Whether you're visiting or you're a local resident, I highly recommend checking out the Dr Philips Restaurant Row and don't be afraid to try some kick ass Lebanese food! read more

I am not from this neck of the woods, but my oh my this place was fabulous! How did we ever find this place? Well, a good Lebanese friend of mine and I were in town for a conference and he couldn't stop raving about this place. So on a warm Friday night, we made a field trip here. The restaurant is situated in a strip mall and of course, I almost had a heart attack. I have some traumatic experiences with strip malls. But before you judge this place, give it a whirl. The restaurant is spacious and everyone working here is authentic. My friend started to chat with the host and waiter in Lebanese and from the words exchanged and the beaming smiles, you would've been fooled that they were all long-time friends. Talk about warm, Mediterranean hospitality! Since it was so warm, we opted to sit outside in their "veranda." The waiter was extremely friendly, helpful and so wonderful to look at. He started us off with a bottle of domestic Pinot Noir, which was excellent. Dry, with a bit of an oaky finish, just how I like it. My friend took the lead and ordered for us. We had a whole spread of Lebanese tapas which included hummus, baba ghannouj (smoked eggplant dip), tabbouleh, fattouch, cheese rolls, fatayer (spinach pies), laban salad (yogurt with cucumber), kibbi, falafel, foul (fava beans). It was a feast for kings (and well queens too). According to my Lebanese friend, there is no place in New York City that even compares to this place. Hot damn. And although I don't know Lebanese food too well, I can say that all the dishes were executed perfectly. I couldn't complain any dish. The eggplant dip was the best I ever had, smoky and creamy. The pita was piping hot and fresh. My mouth was in sheer ecstasy the whole time. We also has the dessert sampler and it was just amazing. We of course had baklava and knafeh. All were delicious and knafeh was made with Halloumi cheese. There was also an amazing Belly dancer! What a nice way to end a fabulous meal! Excellent, excellent Lebanese food. Fellow Yelpers, After some back and forth, the final decision of where to eat came out to be Cedar's. I had never been so I thought, why not? One more notch on my Yelp belt, a superbly built high quality alligator leather belt of reviews of course. It was fairly slow due to it being a Tuesday night, but nevertheless it made it easier for me to capture the moment without much distraction. The interior is rather bland, leaving something to be desired, or maybe the lack of diners made it seem this way; not lively. We were promptly sat at a table by the window, which was nice, by a waiter who looked exactly like the star of the former hit series Monk; Tony Shalhoub. What made the comparison even more uncanny was this gentleman's behavior and mannerisms which were filled with meek and submissive body language. Luckily, he was not as weird as Monk and proved to be a very nice server who was extremely courteous. No complaints there. The music selection being played was rather depressive. It made me casually wonder if they were expecting to sit a funeral party at any moment, but I digress. We ordered one appetizer, 'Safiha,' and an entrée of Shish Kabob and Kafta Kabob. The Safiha was decent (see my picture), but nothing exceptional. It came with a good amount of meat in its center and with a fluffy shell reminiscent of some sort of pastry. Luckily , my company is an expert in culinary arts and promptly reacted to this by dowsing the Safiha in some much needed olive oil among other things. Being a self-starter, creative guy, I copied her actions and did the same to my Safiha. It helped the taste a bit, kind of like taking a navy wing tip shoe and putting red laces on it. It didn't do much to detract from an already 'uniquely Arabic' dish, but it did give it a bit more 'oomph.' The Shish Kabob (see my picture) was also good, but nothing to write home about. Even though I am writing this at home. Huh. The portion is very generous so that is a major plus. The dishes come with a side of rice and vegetables, but I simply opted for two sides of vegetables instead. They were well seasoned enough to stand on their own without the accompanying lamb kabob. The meat was a bit overcooked and I was surprised that the Monk doppelgänger did not ask me at what temperature I wanted it. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the food. I tried the kafta and it was very tasty. This was the one stand-out item, so I'm recommending it. Overall, prices are reflective of the quality and portion. There is an outdoor patio and apparently it can get pretty energetic there during the weekends with dances and entertainment. If you enjoy this type of cuisine like I do, it's worth a try. If you're on the fence about trying Lebanese, I'm not sure if this would be a good enough introduction to sway your senses. ila al lika'! read more

I understand we are in the middle of a Pandemic, but a lack of service by Server Remi at this location is unjustified. My husband and I looked for a good Lebanese restaurant to try out and we came across Cedars when googling it. We arrived at 7:45pm this past Monday. We got sat inside in a table for two. Even though the patio was open and three tables were sitting there, we decided to stay inside because it was more quite and intimate. Bad idea! because the restaurant was empty, so the eco of voices were louder. Unfortunately, our waiter Remi decided to "educate" his co-worker about the European way THE WHOLE TIME we were in there. Even if we tried to ignore it, my spouse and I could still hear his non-stop, non-sense conversation. We are from the south of Italy, and many of the things he spoke about Europe were not accurate, and even if they were, we had no interest on going there to listen to the Server's opinions and personal conversations. On top of that, his service was mediocre and pure transactional. We did not feel welcome, nor guided. I ordered the Lamb chops, and I never got a STEAK KNIFE, which I had to struggle between using a regular knife and eating them with my hands. Quite messy. Every time we needed something, we had to look for him and yell for his attention. He was more concern on finishing his closing side works. We wanted a second bottle of sparkling water, and my husband literally had to yell for it. Once the sparkling water arrived, he finally asked us if the main entrees were "ok," which it was too late because I was already half way in. I requested the Lamp chops Medium, and they came out Medium Rare, almost Rare. I did not make a big deal about it because I still enjoyed them and I just wanted an easy night for us. When 9pm arrived, it was time to close. He then turn off the lights from the bar to make sure we new it, which made me rush through my food and discouraged us from looking at the dessert menu. We still gave him the 18% tip as a courtesy, but far from deserving it. If we knew that sitting inside we would have to deal with his bad service and his presumptuous conversation with his colleague, we would have requested the patio with the other server (which I do not know the name, but he was way kinder than him). My husband made sure the server knew that he provided a poor service. When Remi brought the check, and asked if everything was good (trying to secure his tip), my husband told him that the food was good, to which the server replied, "just the food?" And my husband nod his head. No apologies were given. We feel bad for the business because of those that had to go through the same annoying experience as us will never come back, which is a shame because the cuisine was excellent, even if they got the wrong temperature on my lamb chops. The waitress was very helpful and recommended the mixed grill and kebbeh lebnieh both were fantastic!! I also liked the mixed grill I ate all of the lamb there was ground lamb and solid lamb I ate all of that and I almost finished the chicken I ate most of the vegetables and the rice and half of the pita bread. the pickled turnips where unusual but they were so good that I could not stop eating them. Unfortunately, this will not be a good review. I normally don't write reviews, ever. I had such a terrible experience I feel compelled to do so. It was my friends law school graduation lunch last Saturday with a party of 25 people. The reservations were made in advance with the expectation set PRIOR that each person would have a set menu at $30.00 a person. That was not the case upon arrival and it ended up being $45.00 which was communicated at the restaurant. The service was slow. The servers were rude. When asked for water we were told it HAD to be Fiji water, they could not possibly do regular water. Which of course was an up charge LOL. Alcohol was an additional cost, which was fine for everyone but the restaurant was apparently unable to "check anyone out sparely or take multiple cards". Overall it was probably the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I do not recommend this place to anyone. The owner really needs to reevaluate how he conducts his business. When called, he was rude and degrading. Will never return and would never recommend this place to anyone. If anything, I'd tell them to steer clear of this place. read more
