This dog park is a good place to go to if you live close by, but it's not worth the drive if you live farther away. It can be a bit tricky to find especially if you're not familiar with downtown Renton. The parking area is underneath the 405 freeway and it's very fast and easy to find parking once you get there. There's a short walk from the parking area to the dog park, which isn't too bad. It's a very simple off-leash dog park with all the fundamental aspects that all dog parks should have. There's a small fenced section for smaller dogs and a HUGE field that's fenced for bigger dogs. The park provides water features, agility equipment, fire hydrants, and a waste pick-up station. There's also a good amount of seating for owners to take a break and sit down, which is a plus. The one thing that did ruin my experience was an ignorant dog owner. While it sounds fun to bring your child to the dog park... IT ISN'T A GOOD IDEA!! Long story short, a little girl was playing with my puppy and my puppy got excited and started to jump and lick her. Her mom instantly grabbed my puppy by the back and pulled her away from her child. My puppy cried and she came to me in fear. She didn't understand what she did wrong... She was acting like a puppy and the girl was acting like a child. Sometimes, those two things don't mix. The character of the dog park shouldn't have to change to accommodate to a child... I won't let this one experience stop me from coming here, but the next time I see a child that is to young to be there, I'm leashing my puppy and leaving!

This is a big, loooong park. Or 'cedar wood chip field' as Jason B. so accurately described it. ;) Even on sunny days, the pup has been able to find muddy patches and come back nice and dirty. There is a small dog area and a tent (shade) with some benches for the humans. There are a couple benches at the far end of the park also (but no shade). There is one water pump (but it's been shut off all winter, so you may want to bring some of your own water just in case). The river is just a short walk on the way, so you can always stop by there and cool your dog off (easy pathway access). People there have been friendly, but be prepared to get a little muddy.

We will never come back to this park ever again. We are avid Mercer Island Dog Park and Marymoor visitors with our 1 year old corgi. Due to the virus, we decided to go to a park closer to home and try Cedar River. First, as many reviews say, it's impossible to find. The walk under the overpass felt slightly unsafe and just sketchy. Second, it's the most boring park for the dogs, hardly anything exciting for them. Lastly and most importantly, when we went on a Sunday afternoon, there was a pack of vicious and mean dogs. We tried to let ourselves in but the dogs swarmed the gate. Eventually my husband got in the gate where the dogs ATTACKED him and our puppy. Luckily my husband is 6'5 and able to hold our dog quite high or else our dog would have been hurt. My husband got out with a ripped shirt, bitten finger and just shaken up. The owners didn't even offer an apology or even get up from the picnic tables until I screamed at them to help us. Absolutely horrible. I hope the city of renton can hold owners accountable for this type of thing. I'm still so upset and highly recommend everyone to stay away.

Since my last visit they've added a shelter! It's small and it just covers a metal picnic table but it's a huge improvement! They also added a few tires for more advanced agility training which my dog won't use but they make it look more fancy. I forgot to note that the cedar river trail right next to the park is great for a long walk :)

I finally made it over to this dog park. It's a bit tricky to find so your best bet is to park at the Renton Community Center and walk over. This park was just opened a few months ago so there isn't much going on here. It's about 4 acres and 1/3 of it is covered in bark. The other 2/3 is dirt. My puppy got so dirty I HAD to wash him again! Bring some rain boots for the mud and watch where you step... Expect to get dirty!

I like the open space for the dogs to run and water was available for them. The police were patrolling so I felt safe also.

Parking is plentiful and free (though coming from NYC parking looks plentiful almost everywhere in the suburbs), in parking lots along the park driving route curving around the water. There are multiple facilities on the water and off. On and along the water--a boat docking marina, multiple docks, fishing pier, a sandy beach with roped-in swimming area, nature area with info placards describing the surroundings and recent history of the park, and a pier extension with gazebo over the water. On the park grounds--a small water recreational boat storage with canoes, playground, picnic areas with running water and BBQ pits, and aforementioned walking trails. As others have mentioned a fair number of Canada geese and ducks reside in the area so best to follow the advisements posted and NOT feed them unless you want more goose/duck poop than there already is on the park premises. Otherwise lovely park and I would come back for a stroll in warmer months!

The playground was well-suited for a range of ages, with swings, a see-saw, and even a small climbing wall to keep them entertained. There was plenty of open grass for families to lay out picnic blankets, and a covered area that was bustling with what looked like a birthday party or community event. The park also has solid amenities like tennis courts, a volleyball area, and a basketball court for older kids and adults. I especially enjoyed the shaded walking paths, which offered a nice break from the sun. The one downside was the bathroom. It was in poor condition and definitely could use some upkeep. Parking was available but packed due to the nice weather, so we had to park a short walk away. JY review.

One of the perks of living in the neighborhood is the Beaver Lake Dog Park…read more It is fully fenced and has large-dog and small-dog separate areas. The large dog park is thickly covered in wood chips in the open areas, and the back 1/3 side is heavily shaded by trees and easily walkable for those hot full sun days and for good 'texture'. If you have one of those ball throw tools, you're not going to run out of distance with your best throw. The small dog side is slightly smaller and features a gravel/dirt and grass field. There are some passages into a small stand of trees/bushes. Doggie water fountains and pooper scooper bags available in each section. There are well established wooded trails to either side which lead to the lakefront section of the park: about a half mile round trip. The people are friendly and dog conflicts rare. (Personal hint: if you have a troublesome dog, put a muzzle on them before taking them out in public or to any park: the dog really won't mind. You can always remove it). On-site parking is good except for the rare little league tournaments, as the 3 ballfields and well-appointed playground share the park/parking. There's even street overflow parking. (I saw one review of a water-borne illness: that review is over 10 years old and there's no regular standing water in the dog park for years)
