    Beautiful little pocket park..
    Robert M.

Beautiful little pocket park in Renton. Smallish but nice. It is a long walkway along the road into it with a wonderful boardwalk at the end which is contained within a rowing club. If you need a nice relaxing walk, this is the spot for you.

Hang out in the shade while the kids burn off their energy!

As far as play structures go, this one isn't anything special, but it is nice and new and clean. I'm giving 4 stars because there's a structure with picnic benches/ shade right next to it, so you can sit in the shade while your kid(s) runs around.

Really cool park/trail that makes Renton even better. You can canoe or kayak, cool off by wading in, walk your dog (on a leash- poo bags provided) to the dog park, walk with your old parents, play in the river mud, float the river, watch the salmon spawn in the fall, makeout on a bench under the blooming cherry trees in the spring, and ride your bike. You can see I have fond memories here. The trail goes really far from where it dumps into lake Washington all the way up to maple valley.

    Sunset along Lake Washington

The trail follows the Cedar river though parts of downtown Renton linking up to other parks and the Renton Stadium. I frequent the Lake Washington entrance more than any other since I like being able to walk out on the pier where you can rent kayaks, gaze out across the lake and watch airplanes take off and land. The planes are mostly general aviation with the occasional 737 (average 1.5 a day) taking off. There are tables and BBQ stalls scattered about, and a small play area for kids. Unfortunately this area is frequented during the day by Boeing smokers, who are not allowed to smoke on Boeing property. Overall I enjoy coming to the park.

Beautiful sunset at cedar river park this evening (7/12/18).

Parking is plentiful and free (though coming from NYC parking looks plentiful almost everywhere in the suburbs), in parking lots along the park driving route curving around the water. There are multiple facilities on the water and off. On and along the water--a boat docking marina, multiple docks, fishing pier, a sandy beach with roped-in swimming area, nature area with info placards describing the surroundings and recent history of the park, and a pier extension with gazebo over the water. On the park grounds--a small water recreational boat storage with canoes, playground, picnic areas with running water and BBQ pits, and aforementioned walking trails. As others have mentioned a fair number of Canada geese and ducks reside in the area so best to follow the advisements posted and NOT feed them unless you want more goose/duck poop than there already is on the park premises. Otherwise lovely park and I would come back for a stroll in warmer months!

The playground was well-suited for a range of ages, with swings, a see-saw, and even a small climbing wall to keep them entertained. There was plenty of open grass for families to lay out picnic blankets, and a covered area that was bustling with what looked like a birthday party or community event. The park also has solid amenities like tennis courts, a volleyball area, and a basketball court for older kids and adults. I especially enjoyed the shaded walking paths, which offered a nice break from the sun. The one downside was the bathroom. It was in poor condition and definitely could use some upkeep. Parking was available but packed due to the nice weather, so we had to park a short walk away. JY review.

There's even some outdoor gathering spots with fire pits and comfy couches! They aren't owned nor managed by a single company. The Bristol Apartments, for example, is owned by one investment company that is different than the empty towers and the Hyatt is a Hyatt property. It's a bit confusing if this review is for the neighborhood? Do we review neighborhoods now? And it is for all intents and purposes a neighborhood. There's one road in and one road out with the Hyatt, the Bristol, Tra, Peyrassol, the Seattle Family Center, Dock and Drink, and Water's Table filling out the portfolio. It is very pleasant with Coulon Beach Park next door and excellent viewing of fireworks when that resumes. With the parking garage there's plenty of parking though I cannot stress more than ever do not leave any valuables in sight in your vehicle. Southport may be isolated, but that isn't a deterrent for thieves. Personally I'd recommend parking where there's foot traffic since the upper levels are vacant I've only seen smashed out windows at those levels. And it is a pleasant place! In the summers it is busy. The water is so close and the views amazing. I love the four restaurants. It can get loud, and with the exception of a few incidents in 2020 due to people being angry about the mandates at the time it is a very safe space where families, dog walkers, and cute couples gather. Many a wedding takes place in the warmer months so it isn't uncommon to see beautiful gowns and fancy tuxedos, though I'm partial to the Indian weddings since the guests come in beautifully colored saris. There is a lot of diversity at the waterfront and that makes it a wonderful place to be. The winters can be busy too with Coulon Beach Park putting up lights for the holidays and Argosy cruises bringing the Christmas boats by. I always appreciate the carolers. I only wish people would acknowledge the road properly. Drivers ignore the speed limit signs, occasionally just stop in the middle street, or try to double park. Pedestrians often aren't much better because though there's a great sidewalk that connects the docks to the Bristol running up to Coulon Beach Park they'll just walk down the middle of the road like it's a bike path. I have seen a few close calls with pedestrians almost being hit because they're walking down the road instead of the sidewalk. It is a great area.
