I was with a friend that was at cedar ridge ranch, and I do not recommend this farm to anyone that cares about horses and other animal's. While I was there I saw a horse pen with 6 horses in it, with only one small shelter from the snow and cold, yet, none of the horses had winter coat's on. They were standing in muddy ice and also there was a little white goat in the same pen. It seemed odd and dangerous to all of us. There was a lot of trash and junk around the entire horse barn, there was also two little ponies standing on ice with only a small tarp above them for shelter. this place does not look like the pictures I saw on the their website and the animals look destressed read more

This was one of the most beautiful places I've stayed. I've been on a 3 month road trip. This was the best experience I had overall! It's stunning first of all. It's quiet, you almost feel as though this amazing property is for you and the amazing animals they have on the farm. The sunsets are second to none. The service was excellent. On my way there I hit an awful snow storm. Pam, my main contact for Cedar Ridge Ranch, allowed me to push the reservation a week with no extra charge. I will definitely be back! read more

I will begin by saying that our stay at Cedar Ridge Ranch was a large part of why our vacation the best vacation of my life. Our tent (the Safari) was beautifully appointed, sparkling clean, and was supplied with everything we needed; the Ranch itself was of unparalleled beauty; but the cornerstone of CRR is the hospitality and love of Pam, Randy, and Merrill. From the moment we arrived (even before!) it was clear that our hosts truely cared for our well-being and wanted our stay to be as lovely and homey as possible. And it was both of those things: my partner and I rose before the sun and cooked blueberry sausage (made on the ranch) and brewed local coffee under the stars before our hikes. When we got home, the prairie dogs (or ground squirrels) and alpacas greeted us with interest. If we needed anything, which was rare since we were amply provided for, our hosts knew just how to help us. The tent was in walking distance of the animals and hiking trails, and right next to the bath tent, but not crowded in any way. It was perfectly situated so we could nap or read on the porch sofa in view of Mount Sopris, or walk a little ways to the barn where there are artist spaces. The bed was fantastically comfortable, and we slept with the outer tent flaps open to feel the cool night breeze. We did Alpaca Yoga with Emilee (this was a highlight of the trip, and I absolutely recommend it, no matter your yoga experience!) and I bought a hat made from Libby the alpaca's wool--I wore it to climb Mt. Elbert, where it kept my head incredibly warm at 14,000 ft. I could go on forever about how lovely it was to stay at Cedar Ridge Ranch, but I will end by saying: it is unusual to feel immediately feel at home in a place you have never been, surrounded by strangers. It is rarer still for that place to be full of startling natural beauty. But I am at a loss for words to express what a gift it was to meet such beautiful people, in such a beautiful place, and for those people to so quickly become friends. My family of four along with my mom visited Cedar Ridge Ranch on Thanksgiving (2018) afternoon. We went horseback riding and took the farm tour. This was NOT your ordinary trail ride and farm visit! This was an educational experience second to none! We spent about an hour before our ride learning how to put on a lead rope, walk with the horse, basic grooming, bridling, and saddling the horse you'll take on the trial. Before we hit the trail, time was spent in the indoor arena to work on riding skills. It was very cool building a relationship with the horse that you were going to ride! Then the trail... breath taking views with Merrill as our guide! After the ride, we toured the farm with Pam. We loved spending time with the Alpacas and getting a close up experience with the other animals on the farm. This was just the best experience! If you're looking for an exceptional day of learning about horses, taking a trail ride, and spending time on the farm with the friendliest and most knowledgeable people, then Cedar Ridge Ranch is your destination. Horrible experience. After looking at pictures and reading reviews I thought this would be a fun first time camping experience for our two daughters. After arriving it was hard to find anyone at the barn to check in. A lady arrived and said she had an appointment and would drive down to the Yurt when she was done but we were free to go in and unpack. The yurt was at least 100 degrees inside which was understandable since all the windows were closed and it's hot outside. After bringing our things in we started to realize how dirty it was. Inches of dust and dog hair everywhere. We debated leaving or not and decided we could make the best of it. After changing my daughters diaper I noticed wasps were flying in from the open sun roof. They were all going under the table. When I looked under the table not only was there wasps there was large debris and more dust and dog hair. At this point I pulled back the bedding on the main bed to find dead bugs. The bathroom to the left of the yurt has no step down so you better make a jump down and hope you remember in the middle of the night or your sure to get hurt. After packing up I still thought maybe the cleaning was overlooked and it was worth giving them a chance. I called and was treated horribly. After being hung up on she called back. She called me a liar and proceeded to tell me there is no dog hair or dust or dirt. She had "pictures" to prove it. She then told me i should never book air b&b because people would catch on to my scam. I never even booked through air B&B but that's besides the point. I would have been happy if she just went in and cleaned. That was obviously not going to happen. After looking back into it all of the reviews were left around a year ago. Probably when the yurt was cleaned last. She also threatened me about leaving a bad review. Yet here I am‍ for over $300 a night this place is an absolute scam. She was quick to let me know because we put the diaper in the trash we would not receive any type of refund. I didn't even have to ask about a refund she was quick to make that point. The only positive thing I can say is Merrill who does horse back riding was very pleasant to talk to and try to book a lesson with. It's such a shame we didn't get to experience that. read more

Myself and four of my closest friends recently visited Cedar Ridge Ranch for a farm tour. Not only did it feel Covid-safe as the entirety of the tour took place outdoors, but we had such a great time as well! It was incredibly interesting to learn about what it takes to upkeep a farm of that size, not to mention meeting all the animals (especially the alpacas!) was a total highlight. Highly recommend making the trip if you're in Aspen or any of the nearby towns/cities. read more

Our family had a great time taking a tour at the farm. We especially enjoyed the alpacas and the handmade garments. Our children were thrilled to tour and see the way pigs, chickens, and horses are raised and humanely treated by these great owners. We would love to return and try out the sleeping accommodations; it would be really magical to go "glamping" at night and watch the animals. read more

We were just blown away with Merrill and her teaching skills. Our group had all experience levels and she gave us such an amazing riding experience. We had a child with us who was first time rider to grown adults who were experienced. She went over everything. She showed us how to approach the horse, get the horse, lead the horse, how to groom it. We went into the arena and practiced commands and then went out on a trail ride. While the ranch seems beautiful, unfortunately the people who own it are shockingly dishonest and unethical. I spoke with Pam multiple times on the phone to discuss our stay on their ranch (my husband, young son, and our stallion horse), and after being assured they had plenty of room for all of us (they advertise themselves as a horse boarding facility on their website, in addition to a vacation getaway), continued with the booking through AirBnb. Three hours after the booking was confirmed, Pam sent a message saying they don't allow stallions on their ranch. I was completely shocked, since both my husband and I had multiple conversations with this woman discussing the details of our stay! We both understand that some facilities don't accept stallions (although they usually state this on their website, which Cedar Ranch does not), so it's always, ALWAYS one of the first things we mention when booking a stay, because the LAST thing you would want when traveling long distances with a horse would be to be turned away! Pam advised us to cancel our reservation on Airbnb, and - although this would create a little stress in our trip since we now needed to find new accommodations on short notice - I wrote it off as really odd of her, but not a huge deal. What happened next however, absolutely floored me. When I went to cancel the reservation on AirBnb, I was only offered a $60 refund (maybe the AirBnb fees?) of a $600 payment! I called Pam back thinking this had to be a mistake, and she very brazenly told me that no, I would not be receiving a refund for the reservation. Please keep in mind this reservation had been made less than three hours prior to this conversation! She claimed I had "misrepresented" our horse and wasn't entitled to a refund. Mind you, along with multiple phone conversations, I even wrote in the notes of our Airbnb booking that we would be traveling with our stallion horse! And she ACCEPTED the booking with full knowledge of our situation, and then refused to refund the money! Fortunately, the issue is being disputed through all the proper channels, so it's not really about the money, it's just that feeling of being taken advantage of that led me to write this lengthy review. I was really looking forward to this part of our trip, and now I'm sitting here just kind of scratching my head wondering what in the world happened - while scrambling for alternate accommodations. Not sure what kind of a person would do that, but it's certainly not one who I would recommend supporting. My advice - find some real ranchers (there are plenty of honest, ethical ones out there) and support them instead. read more
