I will begin by saying that our stay at Cedar Ridge Ranch was a large part of why our vacation the best vacation of my life. Our tent (the Safari) was beautifully appointed, sparkling clean, and was supplied with everything we needed; the Ranch itself was of unparalleled beauty; but the cornerstone of CRR is the hospitality and love of Pam, Randy, and Merrill. From the moment we arrived (even before!) it was clear that our hosts truely cared for our well-being and wanted our stay to be as lovely and homey as possible. And it was both of those things: my partner and I rose before the sun and cooked blueberry sausage (made on the ranch) and brewed local coffee under the stars before our hikes. When we got home, the prairie dogs (or ground squirrels) and alpacas greeted us with interest. If we needed anything, which was rare since we were amply provided for, our hosts knew just how to help us. The tent was in walking distance of the animals and hiking trails, and right next to the bath tent, but not crowded in any way. It was perfectly situated so we could nap or read on the porch sofa in view of Mount Sopris, or walk a little ways to the barn where there are artist spaces. The bed was fantastically comfortable, and we slept with the outer tent flaps open to feel the cool night breeze. We did Alpaca Yoga with Emilee (this was a highlight of the trip, and I absolutely recommend it, no matter your yoga experience!) and I bought a hat made from Libby the alpaca's wool--I wore it to climb Mt. Elbert, where it kept my head incredibly warm at 14,000 ft. I could go on forever about how lovely it was to stay at Cedar Ridge Ranch, but I will end by saying: it is unusual to feel immediately feel at home in a place you have never been, surrounded by strangers. It is rarer still for that place to be full of startling natural beauty. But I am at a loss for words to express what a gift it was to meet such beautiful people, in such a beautiful place, and for those people to so quickly become friends. I didn't want to leave, and I can't wait to return.

Cedar Ridge Ranch is a must visit for a farm tour, Alpaca yoga, and/or glamping! Pam was so wonderful and kind, as she told us all about the ranch and animals on our farm tour. The Alpacas are also so adorable- my kids (age 11 and 16) said that was their favorite part! We can't wait to book a glamping stay at this beautiful ranch!

    Spending time with the Alpacas!

We loved spending time with the Alpacas and getting a close up experience with the other animals on the farm.

Offering $5 portions of feed, you're able to get hands on with the animals. In addition to the Alpacas, they have two mini highland cows named Ferdinand and Daisy Mae. They also have an adorable, fluffy black cat named Leonard chauffeuring guests around the property. The gift shop was much more irresistible and enticing than I had expected. Each of us left with more than one little treasure.

All of the animals are friendly, and they are especially good with very young children. Our group had a 2 year old, 3 year old and a 4 year old as well as adults. The children are able to interact with the animals and pet them without having any or fear of them getting bit or injured. There is a boutique with a wide range of products, many of the products are made from alpaca wool. You can also purchase a ziplock bag of feed for $5 to feed to the animals. The prices range from $5 and up. For the budget conscious there is a small clearance bin available. I purchased an item for 50% off from it. This business also gives you an opportunity to come and watch an alpaca give birth to their new little baby (cria) The staff here are amazing and are so very kind and gentle with their animals. We were not able to view a birth but got to meet a new baby cria who was born 2 hours before we met him.

My friend and I visited again this past week, for the 3rd time over the last several years. And we will certainly return! The scenery is gorgeous and the guest cabins are beautiful, clean, well kept and rustic. The food is delicious--3 excellent meals served each day. They can accomodate various levels of riders and safety is first. The attention to detail and the kindness of the May family as well as their staff, clearly makes this a wonderful experience.
