I would think if your standard sides include asparagus you would learn to prepare it correctly and not the droopy mess they serve. The mashed were amazing (although a very small portion). The steak was supposed to be medium rare (pink with warm center) and I got well done (no pink) - although the cut of the meat was good so it was still tender. Still, it isn't hard to do medium rare. Ironically my husband ordered well done and got medium well - some pink. So don't expect them to get temp right. The bartender and the waitress (Ashley) in the pub were outstanding. Very friendly and working hard with a smile. The staff at 1887 need an attitude adjustment. If you now require reservations, maybe enter the 21st century and get on Open Table - they require you call the restaurant to get a table. About $500/night because it was a busy weekend. A week before we were to arrive, they cancelled the reservation because they said they double booked it. To say they screwed us, and left us hanging out to dry is an understatement. By the time we scrambled to rebook, literally everything in town was taken. They ruined the trip. And the best they could do was to say "Sorry, there's nothing we can do." They're listed as Superhosts on Air BnB, which is a total joke. DO NOT use them.

We found the Royal Gorge Rentals online when looking for raft trips with Royal Gorge Rafting which…read moreled us to their vacation rentals. We booked the River Ranch & Valley Ranch for a few nights last summer for our family reunion. What an incredible deal and top notch accommodations! We were able to take advantage of the white water rafting and zip line tours they offered and their office helped us book a trip with the local train and ATV tours. The River Ranch has a nice open feel to it which made it great for bringing our family together. The fire pit out back made for campfire fun with the kids and smores of course were a huge hit! We took advantage of their private beach across the river from the ranch house which was great fun and a huge perk. The hot tubs were relaxing and a welcome sight at the end of each day. Overall the river ranch was just perfect for our group. The Valley Ranch is a massive lodge style house with 3 expansive levels where the kids ran wild. Everything about the place was quality except for the bathroom toilet downstairs but they replaced it as we were leaving as it was slow to do its job. Aside from the minor hiccup the place was incredible and easily accommodated 25 people in our family. The double ovens made for quick cooking for 43 of us and the short hiking trails out back made for a great way to get out with the entire family after meals. Huge patios, huge decks, hot tubs, some local wildlife viewing(4 legged type), and great hosts will bring us back in the future. Maybe next time we will get the other "Parkdale" house too. Starting with the positives, the tasting, the food, the catering staff onsite during my wedding,…read moreand Vicky (who no longer works there) were all great. We used to buffalo gals for our wedding and food was great. Just a few points of miscommunication that caused a bit of unnecessary stress on my wedding day is why the loss of a stars. We were told that the one guest who was celiac and one guest who was vegetarian were going to have a plated meal to prevent risk of cross contamination and would ensure they had their food. We were told not to stress as they would be plated and given to the guests as they were given the guests names and could work with the seating chart. I noticed that the guest who was vegetarian was only eating sides so I had asked and she said she didn't know there was a separate meal. the celiac guest who luckily got to go through the buffet first did not have issues as she did get to go first but could've caused severe outcomes for her if she did have cross contamination. After talking with catering staff onsite they said they were told that the guest has to ask for it which was complete opposite of what was originally communicated, and they were deeply sorry. So just miscommunication with one that actually could've caused permanent harm if she had ingested gluten. We also paid an additional fee for grilling to be onsite, due to fire ban that was unable to occur. We understand that is not within our control but no where in the contract does it say that it is not refundable, so they just held onto that fee even though they didn't provide the service. When asked about the refund I was told the fee was for the tri-tip to be cooked on a specific grill but nowhere does that say that in our contract and was NEVER communicated - because if it was not onsite we were told the way it was cooked was the same - we thought we really were just paying for the experience of it being onsite. So biggest tip for anyone going through them is get everything in writing with clear communication and clarification, because without that they don't care to help.
