Excellent authentic middle eastern food. We started with a falafel salad and hummus with toum (garlic whip). The salad was huge and easily split between my wife and I. The toum was amazing. It is hard to find good authentic toum and the smile on my wife's face when she tried it let me know it was legit. We decided to split the beef kabab and there was plenty of food. The beef kabab is extremely tender and very well seasoned. The entree came with a lentil soup which was also delicious. For dessert we chose the baklava which was amazing. The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly. We can't wait to go back to try the shawarma and falafel. The restaurant is BYOB so keep that in mind and bring a bottle of wine / beer with you. We didn't search, but there are likely shops nearby. read more

I stopped by Cedar Palace while on business in Chicago and I am so glad I did! There were so many good looking things on the menu that I struggled to choose, but ended up getting the vegetarian combo and spinach and cheese pies for my meal. Everything was fresh and delicious. I don't usually even like tabouleh but I loved it here. I was fortunate enough to get to chat with the chef, Silvana, and she was so sweet and genuinely interested in getting feedback from her customers about the food. The staff was really friendly, service was great, and we LOVED the food! The hummus was tasty and smooth, I ordered the Zaalouk, which is something I've never tried before and it was so tasty. There were nice vegan options and many vegetarian options. The portions were generous, if you get an appetizer, you could probably split a plate between 2 adults and it's still a nice meal, but then you wouldn't have any delicious leftovers for later. We live pretty far away, but we're looking forward to making plans to make a trek back out to eat here again. read more

This is a lovely little Mediterranean gem! My husband and I can here for Valentines Day and we had this small but lovingly decorated restaurant to ourselves (it was 3pm so no crowds yet). They do take reservations. We snuggled up to a window table and our server was very nice. We had the hummus and pita as an appetizer, and the beef and chicken shawarma dinner plates with lentil soup. Truly everything was delicious. The lentil soup had a lovely spice blend, with turmeric as a prominent note. The hummus was fresh and plentiful. My beef shawarma was truly delicious - so flavorful. They also offered extra pita and tahini at no extra charge - and that was some tangy and delicious tahini, I wanted to bottle it and take it home. This is also a BYOB spot, and our server opened our bottle for us, right away and brought over glasses - and no corkage fee. It looks like they do a pretty busy carry out business (many delivery drivers stopped by the kitchen while we were there) - I would definitely put them on my list if we lived near by. read more

This was hands down one of the best dining experiences I've had in Chicago! It's a family run restaurant tucked away in Lincoln Park. We sat outside on their patio, which was magical. The food was superb - high quality, flavorful, and affordable. The service was also excellent - Silvana, the restaurant owner and chef, stopped by each table to introduce herself and ensure we were enjoying our meals. We felt so well taken care of. We decided to try Cedar Palace on Sunday and we were so glad we did! The food was truly authentic, fresh and delicious!! The server was super friendly and helpful. We started out with tabouli and hummus. They both were outstanding. Oh wait...did I mention the lentil soup is delish!!! The tabouli was so fresh just the way my family would make it but I have to say it was much better! We had the kefta kabob plate and chicken kabob plate. Again, both were amazing! The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable for all that you're getting. The atmosphere is really warm and inviting and the chef, Sylvia, came out to talk to us. Wonderful woman who truly takes pride in her cooking and makes you feel right at home. I would definitely recommend Cedar Palace as your go to for middle eastern food. It's BYOB which I love. I picked this restaurant for my birthday dinner and it happened to be Valentines weekend. Their food is fantastic; if you like Mediterranean food, you need to come here. Their food is exquisite from the appetizers to the main course. There was twelve of us so there was plenty of food to go around. I had the beef shawarma, and it was so tender and flavorful. The lentil soup was the best I've ever had. They have these potato Boorak and our table must have ordered about twelve servings, a big hit. And then, the hospitality was amazing, the owner came several times times to check on us and make sure everything was pleasing to us. It felt as if we were guests in their house rather than customers. I have never felt that kind of attention anywhere else. As busy as the restaurant was they were so attentive to us. At the end of dinner they surprised me with the best baklava I've ever had and sang Happy Birthday. I will drive back all the way from the southwest suburbs to enjoy their delicious meals. read more

From the food to the service, everything was top notch. I started with the hummus as an app and for the kafta kabob as my entree. Great food and less than $20! Our waitress was friendly and helpful. I work nearby so I order lunch takeout quite often. I always order the hummus, chicken and vegetable soup, or the beef kabob. I've never been disappointed. The other night I brought friends here for dinner and we had a wonderful time. We ordered a variety of appetizers to share and each was unique and delicious. I typically don't like mushrooms, but their sautéed mushrooms are so good. The owner came out of the kitchen to check in to see if everything was satisfactory.
