What a beautiful place for a winery. Lots of spaces for various events making this an ideal event space. I went for the 2020 Fall Wine Festival. Fortunately, the person who invited me had packed some snacks (cheese, crackers, summer sausage)..but there were 5 of us. Cons: If you attend an event at this place plan to bring food and chairs with you. Also a small table to put your food/beverages on. The lines are are super long to get food (1.5 hrs avg)...no kidding!!! *Lines were super long for beverages as well. Suggestion for Cedar Lake: Have an online app for guests to order food and have a message sent to their phones when the order is ready to be picked up. My husband and I had been wanting to go here for a long time. Now that we have been, we have mixed reviews. We ate in the dining area on the patio and listened to a live band. Pros: Beautiful setting surrounding a small lake. We got to see a very large swan close up which was nice because we love nature. The wine slushy was good. The CLC burger was delicious. Cons: Bathrooms filthy, trash overflowing. The stuffed prosciutto chicken not so good. It had a very strong red pepper coulis that overpowered the dish. Our service was very slow. Everyone around us had faster service. The food was extremely overpriced and underwhelming. You cannot bring in your own food like other wineries allow.There was a live band playing so loudly it was difficult to hold a conversation. We will probably not go back as there are so many restaurants and wineries to choose from. There are many better options. read more

It's a beautiful place, we took a bus Sat to the dueling piano event. Our group had 30+tickets. Stated they do not reserve seats. Staff said to spread out at and squeeze into other tables and make "new friends." Also, went there week before and another manager mentioned we may not be let in bc we were on a bus. No where anywhere is this mentioned and they have bus parking. We already purchased tickets that advertise for $10 each, w service fee 14. They really act like they are doing you a favor by letting you be there. Probably not their fault, but I can't believe they charged tickets for that event. They never "dualled" and they were on keyboards. It was like bad Kareoke of the same two guys. I bought pork nachos that had to of been sitting already made, ice cold. I bought a bottle of Cabernet and couldn't drink it. Again, beautiful place, nice for a Sunday date. Don't bring a big group and don't go to big events. Highly disappointed in this place. After driving an hour, we arrived with a group of family members to enjoy a beautiful afternoon, only to be turned away since we had our (well-behaved) child with us. We were told that this policy was 'on the website' but when we looked on the website the day before to check out the menu, nowhere did we see it prominently posted. After leaving in tears (we don't get out much), we opened the website on our phone to find that the policy was NOT displayed anywhere on the home page WHERE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. It was buried in the FAQ's section. If you're looking for a family-friendly winery in the August area, go to any of the others which do allow children (AUGUST WINERY, MT PLEASANT ESTATES, MONTELLE WINERY, NOBOLEIS VINEYARDS, BALDUCCI VINEYARDS). Something to consider, management: your grounds are sprawling. Why not have a 'family friendly area' if you're concerned about noisy ill-behaved children? Also, during COVID, you really should be insisting that patrons wear masks when not seated. Walking around, we saw numerous people walking around without masks, which I guess is to be expected in podunk Missouri. read more

I came in for brunch during a weekend stay at Innsbrook resort. We made reservations to eat well in advance when we planned our trip. When we drove up and passed the Vineyards, the scenery was beautiful. We rounded a small pond toward the winery and parked in the large gravel parking lot. The building was beautiful with dark brown wood. We were seated outside, which wasn't as nice. The tables and chairs were all made of metal and the silverware was not clean. We ordered a caesar salad to share and individually ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a turkey sandwich. The best way to compare the food was to an airport restaurant. We were very disappointed. The outdoor grounds had a sugarfire barbeque station, and a large barn to host parties. During our visit, they were setting up what seemed to be a high-school graduation party. My family and I visited Cedar Lake Saturday. We were all impressed with the interior and the service. Inside there's a tasting bar and high top tables. There's a "store" area where you can buy salads, cheese plates and other snacks. There's also regular tables in a dining area. They ask that you vacate that area at 4:30 to allow for dinner. This was a cute location. We attended a fall wedding with an outdoor ceremony and semi outdoor reception. Unfortunately, the attendants to the ceremony were facing the sun and had to use their hand fans/programs to shield their eyes from the sun to watch the ceremony, but at least the wedding party wasn't facing into the sun. The reception was nice with a jazz band and live photo "booth." The buffet food with carver was outstanding - barbecue, chicken, mac and cheese, brussels sprouts, salad, rolls and butter...it was all very good quality. read more

So a group of 4 we got 4 bottles and it was around 100$ with 4 glasses (if you get a wine glass you have to pay 4$). The food was from Sugarfire and was delicious. We paid over $35k to have our reception at the Barrel Room. Cedar Lake Cellars decided to have a concert the same night as our wedding!!! The music from the concert was so loud that we couldn't even hear my father's speech. We were supposed to have reserved parking for our guests and my 95 year old grandmother had to walk over a quarter of a mile to get to our venue. We also had people from the concert crashing our wedding all night. This place is awful and the owners did not even offer us a credit or apologize for ruining what was supposed to be the best day of my life. Stay clear of this horrible place!!! read more

The 4 rating is for the location and the service. This winery is gorgeous! The lake, the swans, the seating areas...all beautiful. This was my first visit here and I was definitely pleased with the outside and inside atmosphere. While I did enjoy the wine I settled on, the M-OO-N Route, I wasn't overwhelmed by any 1 wine and I thought their prices were a little on the high side vs. some of my favorite wineries. It was terrible. Absolutely terrible and my friend who touted it as wonderful was embarrassed at how awful it was. Crystal our server must have been the only one there. She disappeared after dropping off our food so there were no water tea or soft drink refills although since it was served in the original Diet Pepsi can and pre-packaged sodas were what they had so you will be charged for every single refill. My $29 prime rib was about a quarter inch thick, overcooked and cold along with the vegetables which were flavorless and also cold. I could have gotten a better piece of beef at Waffle House. I would have sent it back but the server, Crystal never came back after dropping off the salad and dinners at the same time. It was the most pathetic chickenshit meal I have had in a long time. I am still shocked at how truly horrible the food was. Texas Roadhouse prime rib is way better than the horse meat Cedar Lake served me for half the money and better service. Don't come for the food because it totally sucks along with the service. I would give it negative stars if I could. We made a reservation it we sure didn't need one as there were two other tables. On a Saturday night. In the summer. At prime dining time. The people outside were drinking wine and listening to a decent band but the food in this overpriced overrated and this underwhelming restaurant needs to close. Exiting I-70 at T and N in Wright City does not bring images of the Sonoma Valley. One must use your imagination. Driving just 10 minutes or so off the interstate and you'll arrive at a corn and soybean oasis, Cedar Lake Cellars. Once there a perfect setting overlooking a swan filled lake does transport you to another place of tranquility. One building houses the wine tasting, an outbuilding has self service food and a new large structure accommodates a band stand and dance area. If you are in the Midwest, this is darn close to Napa. A wide selection of wines, cheese and crackers, sandwiches and nachos may not be gourmet cuisine, but the unlikely ambiance created in the middle of a cornfield earns Cedar Lake Cellars 5 Stars. read more

I'm big on service. We made a reservation yesterday and noted at the time of the reservation that it was for a special occasion, my birthday. We had to wait at the hostess booth to be seated, then we had to wait a long while before the waitress came with drinks. We ordered a wine, it wasn't served at the correct temp which is fine I guess except the waitress pointed it out when she served it. We both order the house salad. Mine came in place of the chips. My husband paid the extra $11 to have it and opted for a double serving of veggies with his meal. The house salad had what I assume was an entire bag of shredded cheese on top of it. Most of which I removed ( my fault I did t ask for no cheese). I simply would not have expected an 11 salad to be nothing but lettuce, diced tomato and sargento. My husband ordered the prime rib medium rare. It came out raw with the smallest serving of veggies I have ever seen. Everything was cold. Including my burger. The cheese had melted then reset. Also it was really salty. There was no lettuce, tomato or onion with my burger. Fine if you need to ask for it but I didn't know I needed to. No one offered a dessert menu and no one acknowledged my birthday which is fine but why have the special occasion area on the reservation service if you're not even going to look at it. Neither of us finished our meals and we wound up at the grocery store buying cake and spirits so we could properly celebrate. Everything is built around a small lake with lots and lots and lots of tables and seating. Live music on a stage at one end of the lake. Seating inside and outside. Really great service. We are so disappointed. We had made reservations (almost a month in advance) for a party of 10 for a dinner to celebrate our son's engagement. I was told by one one if their events coordinators (Stephanie) that we were going to have the VIP table which is round and seats up to 12 (I even called a couple days in advance to confirm the number of people we could sit at that table). When we got there our table was occupied by a wine tasting party and they said they could not find our reservation. It took them more than 30 min to for them to decide to "accommodate " us at a different table. In the meantime we are standing by the door holding on to our flower arrangements and specially ordered cake. Once seated, we were told the specials of the day (fillet mignon). 2 people in our party ordered the prime rib, only to find out 10 min later they were out of it. After switching their order to the "specials" we were once again informed 10 minutes later that they were out of that too. My son ended up ordering a hamburger that could not even eat because it was so overdone. When they told us they were out of ketchup I about lost it. Because it was so late in the night (we had arrived promptly at 6:30 and we left around 10) they locked up the bathroom facilities and people had to got to a bathroom outside. This was a very special occasion to us and nobody there seemed to care. One of our sons flew from NY and the other one from Minneapolis. I was very embarrassed about the negligent care to our party. Went here on a Sunday and had a great time! Had the brunch buffet and really enjoyed the bacon, french toast, and omelette station. They also had a number of non-breakfast food options like beef stroganoff and shrimp salad... and truffles for dessert! You get your first beverage included in the buffet price, which can be a mimosa, sangria, or wine. We then did the $10 wine tasting (dry wines version) and my favorite was probably between the Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, and 57 Chevy. Plus you get to keep the nice big red-wine style glass. We were also given a taste of their dessert wine and our hostess gave us an insider tip to make a killer martini with it, and we ended up getting a great price for a bottle to take home and try it. The weather was phenomenal so we took advantage of their many outdoor seating options by the lake - shade or no shade, picnic benches versus seats with backs, on the patio or under the gazebo on the lake... plenty of room to spread out and find your special spot for the afternoon. And all the bottle prices are so reasonable! It is definitely not an overpriced stuffy vibe, more like a relaxing spacious atmosphere, and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Plus, you get a wide variety of wines... outside of the stereotypical sweet Missouri fruit wines. Will definitely come back again. read more

We purchased tickets for our family of 4 today. $60 wasted. Very overbooked. No place to sit anywhere. Lines for food, bathrooms, anything extremely long - worse than major sporting events. We left after 15 min because there was no social distancing and no seating anywhere. We were hoping for a fun afternoon outing - we had a nice time at this winery before but today was awful. My teens even made the comment - "even with the long lines you can still get food even at Six Flags." So disappointed!! Don't waste your money. If you like dry red wine Norton and the 57 chevy are my favorite wines from here. They are flavorful and just the right amount of tannins. These wines would go great with most any meat honestly. Speaking of meat the platter with pork shoulder, beef brisket, and smoked chicken with baked beans and green beans is fantastic. The cheese plate though is lacking its just cubed cheese from a bag you can buy at shop n save or dierbergs and for $14 it feels like a scam. So get a real lunch menu item and not the cheese plate. Staff is very friendly but like other have said they seem understaffed. Atmosphere here is the greatest along with the wiew of the lake. I usually dont have beer at a winery but when they brew their own I feel like I have to try it since im a craft guy. Their beer here is amazing the best of any winery iv had before and I have been to many winerys. read more

I recently attended a wedding located here and was very impressed!! I'd heard there would be activities such as horseshoes and hayrides and was expecting something... less than classy. This was not the case! There were a few problems driving down the windy gravel road to the venue, as some sections the low riding car I was in touched ground a bit... that was NOT pleasant. Definitely do not drive a low-riding car to this location. We parked in a large grassy field which which had parking attendants to direct where to park. Even as we walked up I thought "wow, this was NOT what I expected..." It was so large!! Two beautiful lakes, one with a dock- and one with a gorgeous waterfall over rocks and a wooden walkway across it... The main space was a large paved area with chairs set up for the wedding (to be removed later for a dance floor) and directly behind is a large rehabbed barn that was a TREASURE to explore! That was the most awesome part about this place (besides the fact that everything seemed in such great condition) ... their announcer encouraged guests to explore the grounds! oh and explore we did! I thought the catering was done very well and the food was good. It appeared their speakers were going out during the toast section during the reception... but they somehow got it fixed for the music. Or used different speakers. Let me tell you, this place gets even more gorgeous at night... they have landscape lighting along the pathway over the bridge and around the rocks of the waterfall. And they have an upper deck on the main barn that is open--- with white twinkly lights looped around the posts surrounding it. It's the perfect location for a private dance or to spy on those using the dance floor. There is also a second floor in the barn that is rehabbed as a game room. It's old school style and has poker tables set up, a bar, and a pool table... Actually everything here is a great mixture of old school simple-life/colonial while still being modern, clean and classy. Completely charming. And obviously I was charmed. :) They have wine tasting here as well, and I kindof want to check that out!! read more

Cedar Lake Cellars I will have to critique in bullet form. Pros: *The setting is beautiful and unique. It's not on hilly land, so it doesn't have spectacular views like the other wineries in Augusta. However, there are a few ponds, plus a bridge over one of the ponds, a few trees, and an old barn that has been repurposed as an events area. If you get a chance to explore the barn, take it. The main building with the tasting hall is nice, too. *Probably the closest winery to Highway 70. *The selection of wine is good. Multiple drys, sweets, everything in between, a couple of sparklings and a chocolate port. If you like sweet, be sure to taste that chocolate port. *Tastings are generous. *Wine slushies. *They sell food outside at a little building OR you can dine inside at the restaurant, and it's pretty good. Also, outside seating at the restaurant. *Brunch is reasonably priced. *Live music. This may be a pro for some of you, so that's where I'll list it, but I'm not into most live music. Give me some Rat Pack or something classical, or even just some classic rock, and I'm content. But country or pop? Not a fan. *Nice winery staff. *Has the latest hours of any winery I've yet encountered: Cedar Lake Cellars is open until 10 or 11 on the weekends, I believe. While I'm not a night owl, it's annoying that most wineries close at 5 when you want to stay until 6 or 7. Cons: *No minors allowed, so it's not good for family outings. *They don't make their own wine. They have a vineyard, but their wine comes from Rocheport, MO (Les Bourgeois, I suppose). Finding this out is kind of like seeing a character at Disney Land remove his or her head. Sorry if I traumatized you. *It gets very busy, especially in the summer and fall on the weekends -- so busy that it is difficult to walk inside or outside. *The wine is somewhat more costly than wines at other wineries. Perhaps this is because it is marked up between Rocheport and Wright City. *The tastings are paid and comparatively expensive, unless you want to try only one or two for free. You do get to keep the glass, and it is the most enormous wine glass I own, but I'd rather have a smaller glass for a $5 tasting, or none at all with less wine with each taste for free. But I believe you get to try six wines. So I'm torn here. *They don't rinse out your glass after tastings. Most places do not, but it would be a good idea. No crackers at the tasting counter, either. Not to my recollection, anyway. I could be mistaken on that. *The restrooms leave something to be desired. Those outside remind me of those at a park. The inside restroom is small and accommodates one person. Anywho, Cedar Lake Cellars is a cool place that I recommend for a morning or afternoon out. I've been there more than four times, and everyone I've taken there has enjoyed it. read more

What a lovely spot to relax! Cedar Lake has a cute little lake with a wicked looking obstacle course on site - how badass is that?! We did a wine tasting, and it was one I can appreciate. I definitely don't mind when there is a tasting fee, especially when this one includes a big red glass and generous pours - extra points for using wine, not water, in between varietals. It was a warmer day so I tried one of the wine coolers, it's like a sangria slushee! so refreshing. They do that thing (because they are new) where they purchase grapes/wine from other vineyards under their labels, so you'll get some non-MO Pinots and Cabs, and they are pretty good. Cedar Lake also carries other wines to purchase by the bottle. I can't say much about the food - we tried the Asian Nachos (two stars), but they had a good band playing, swans in the lake, and excellent customer service. I'm looking forward to the fall season, so I can re-visit and check out the pumpkin patch right across the road and enjoy the foliage. read more

Except for the lettuce, it was all spoiled, also caught management talking to staff saying even though they work 13 hrs that day they arent lgally required to get a break even though it was 98 degrees outside and the management team spent a good hour just sitting at a table cracking jokes. They treat their staff like garbage and pay most of them minimum wage, they also make the winetenders and servers pay out 4% out of their own pockets to cover credit and debit taxes that the owners have to pay... Brunch comes with either a Bloody Mary, mimosa, or sangria. Excellent variety and quality of food with a made to order omelet bar as well. The star for me was the chocolate mole rice with pork followed by the sweet cream and strawberry bread pudding. Other creative dishes were southwest hash browns and the strawberry shortcake with basil whipped cream. Reservations recommended. The wine we tasted was fair to good that's where that star went.
