Not a safe place to go during a pandemic. It rained and all guests moved indoors. Very crowded, almost shoulder to shoulder, no social distancing between customers or staff. No one was wearing a mask, not even the employees preparing food. Very irresponsible for a business to operate this way. read more

Staff was great. Food was great. Except for the lettuce, it was all spoiled, also caught management talking to staff saying even though they work 13 hrs that day they arent lgally required to get a break even though it was 98 degrees outside and the management team spent a good hour just sitting at a table cracking jokes. They treat their staff like garbage and pay most of them minimum wage, they also make the winetenders and servers pay out 4% out of their own pockets to cover credit and debit taxes that the owners have to pay... Cedar Lake Cellars is a massive event space and outdoor wine garden with scenic views and fun jaunts through wooded areas, around the lake, and in and out of rustically-decorated barns. It's not a winery like we expected - most of the wine isn't made here, and you don't get the viticultural experience you'd expect from a winery in Napa, for example. But if you just want to hang out and enjoy nature while drinking wine (or beer) and perhaps also getting some food (they have Sugarfire Smoke House BBQ on-site), then Cedar Lake is a great option. read more

Don't go there if you want to have any conversation at all with your table mates... the music is way too loud! And you can't get away from it, there are even speakers in the trees. I was looking forward to my visit today until I arrived. I saw minimal COVID safety measures in place. There were some hand sanitizer dispensers, some employees wore gloves, but none wore masks. I give two stars for having ample seating and a variety of dining options. There were hundreds of guests and only a small fraction(like 20, literally) wore masks. Disappointing and disheartening. The music playing during the day was evening pop/dance music. It didn't fit the mood or atmosphere. And it was so loud on so many speakers throughout the area, it was inescapable. During evening dinner, a live band played loudly. Although we sat inside, it was loud enough to hear from outside, which would have probably been fine, if there wasn't already other smooth jazz playing on the speakers inside. Between that and the loud people/voices carrying through the large room, it was over-stimulating and we couldn't wait to leave. On the positive, it was beautiful land, with plenty of room and places to go, lovely buildings, and a variety of wine and food for snacking on. The staff were kind and helpful as well. Beautiful grounds, what is lost by not being in the rolling hills of Mo wine country is made up with the lake, fire pits, firetruck and overall ambiance. We did the wine tasting and this being a cellar and not a winery per se, they offer a wide selection of wines from around the world. Sharee our taste hostess was a delight. She was knowledgeable and very personal. We look forward to our next visit which we hope to take in the brunch. read more

My one gripe with Cedar Lake is that they do not allow kids to dine. However I came here for a wedding on a wonderful October afternoon and this place was extremely picturesque! Such a fantastic setting for a wedding. There was a separate barn/building for the wedding, separate from the winery itself. There was an air-conditioned sitting area and even a play room for the wedding party that included pool tables and a bar. Once the sun set the winery was lit up with string lights. We dined buffet style on chicken and flank steak. Side dishes included beans, sweet potatoes, and new potatoes. Parking was ample but depending on your timing may have been far. Overall a wonderful country setting for an event or just to hang out and drink some wine with friends. If you are in the Wright City/ Floristell / Innsbrook area, definitely check out this adults only establishment! read more

Beautiful outdoor venue and decent wine tasting experience inside, however not optimal when it gets busy. You get a nice wine glass to take home when wine tasting. Brunch was ok, felt like the food was out for too long and drying up. I would go back again for the music events, or to enjoy the view with a bottle of wine. read more

PROS: Ambiance is magnificent!!!!! The lighting is perfect. Gertie our server was adorable. Not limited to Missouri wines. Great wine and beer selection. Desserts we're abundantly delicious ( bread pudding and Merlot Brownies) Took proper care of us for lack of menu item availability. Food was very good. CONS: Not a wide variety on the menu. Under "Soups and Salads"... no soups, just salads. No soup for you! They were out of the crab cake app that we ordered, but they did comp our dessert as an apology. Music was too loud to hear everyone at our table of 6. We requested that it be turned down but we couldn't tell that they did. Wine and beer only ( no hard alcohol). Had to go outside to use the restrooms, (May be a temporary thing due to current construction) thank goodness that it wasn't raining though . We all felt the protein portion of our entrees were very skimpy for the price. It was $28 for an approximate 4 oz filet with scalloped potatoes a small portion of very delicious broccolini and the salad was ala carte. They menu did not state the ounces which is unusual. The salmon might have been 5oz , and it was $26. I don't like extremely hot or cold foods, but my risotto, and broccolini leaned more towards room temp if not cool. My salmon was perfectly hot for me, but May have been too cool for some. It's almost as if they dressed the plate with the risotto and the broccolini and let it sit while the salmon was being prepared and final plating. Our reservations were for 7 and we were there at 9:30 when they closed. They ABRUPTLY, I mean ABRUPTLY turned UP the lights to let us know that it was closing time. We were at a nice dinner of over $65 per person with apps, and alcohol and suddenly we felt as if we were in a bar in the wee hours of the morning, getting the cattle call. Very tacky. We weren't lingering. We had just finished dessert. They could have kindly reminded us that they would close in 15 minutes. OVERALL: We will go back for the ambiance, live music, and wine for sure, but will only order apps. Will not go back for the entrees , delicious as they were, because not worth the price. read more

We drove to the winery today. Got to the front entrance & had our 5 year old daughter in hand. "No one under 21" on the front sign of the place. "No exceptions." I had searched their website - looked at each page before we drove there - nothing about kids. Came home & read the front page --- in little lettering about "click for more information before visiting". Well, I wish that would have been better noted. (Another side note: "No outside food permitted" sometimes means that I wouldn't be eating the whole time I'm attending an event. I hope you're all up to par on allergens.) I called & left a message, but I am greatly disappointed in their lack of advance notification. I am very upfront with how I handle my business & expect the same from other business owners. read more

A little ways off from some of the other wineries, but worth the visit if you aren't with kids. I did the wine tasting which was $8 I think and included the glass. I like that you can order a glass of wine and it is not more expensive than ordering a bottle to share. Glasses were about $5 or $6 and the bottles were around $20 or $24 (from what I remember, I was drinking). I went with a group for Sunday brunch which seemed ok, but not my thing because they didn't have regular eggs, bacon and what I would consider normal breakfast foods. I love this winery! Really beautiful grounds and great wine. Only complaints are that the food is not very good and VERY over priced. Also, it took us ten minutes to be acknowledged at the bar on our last visit, multiple people came up after us and got helped right away... Another disappointment is that it is only open till 9pm on weekends... Half the time my husband and I don't get out until around 8 for a night out! Other than that, great place. I was at Cedar Lake Cellars for the first time on Sunday 4/17. It's a beautiful place! Of the 3-4 local wineries I have been to this is by far the nicest setting and facility. There's a lovely pond with a nice field filled with picnic tables and an outdoor patio. They had a band playing music and it was an all-around beautiful and pleasant spring day where its lovely and warm but not too warm or humid. First we stood at the bar and my boyfriend did the wine tasting. He liked more of the selections than he disliked. I am not a wine drinker so I drank the Cedar Lake Ale. Our server's name was Sherrie and she was super friendly, informative, and was really serving a ton of people there. After the wine tasting we each got another drink and went outside to enjoy the lovely afternoon. We were not there during the time the restaurant was open but they have a small area where there are some premade snacks for sale. I would gladly return to Cedar Lake Cellars. We were in town for a wedding and this was recommended as a good spot for dinner. On the positive side, this is a beautiful spot, nicely decorated with many lovely places to hang out (both inside and outside). We were seated in the dining room (asked to be seated on the 1/3 full patio and were told no. I didn't totally get the reason but it had something to do with not wanting to kick out the day drinkers. Our server was attentive and enthusiastic but clearly very new and not very well trained. This is a "winery", and she didn't know what a rose was. Or what the most basic descriptions of the wineries own wines were (like was it a red or a white!), or how to pull the cork out of the bottle we ordered. I don't blame her, but I do find fault with whoever does the training. I also find fault with whoever writes up the wine menu. The winery's own products have cutesy names like "Fire Truck" and ""57 Chevy", but there's absolutely no printed guidance on whether it's a white or red, dry or sweet, etc. We ultimately ordered the "57 Chevy", apparently a semi-dry red. It arrived ICE COLD and the server plunked it into an ice bucket. We aren't wine snobs by any stretch of the imagination, but even we know that reds are served cool at best- not right out of the walk-in cold. The food sounded promising-I ordered salmon. It looked ok but was overcooked and was served on a clump of tired looking brown rice with a pile of also overcooked, overseasoned mixed vegetables. After dinner we took the rest of our wine outside, which was the best part of the evening. If we're in the area again, we'll check reviews to see if things have improved, otherwise we'll skip this place. read more

I have to say when I heard that my friends wanted to go to a winery in Wright City that I was skeptical. I was even more skeptical as I saw the newly budding grape vines that definitely are not ready to make wine as we were pulling up. I was pleasantly surprised with how nice everything was. There were ~10 of us at a table inside. The winery was very busy, and there was a wedding in the barn building. Our service was great, and the wines I sampled were tasty. I am not sure where they get the grapes for the wine though. My friend invited us all out to the winery, and while we were there, he proposed. She said yes, and we celebrated with some champagne and naturally more wine. Almost everyone also had a wine slushy which were good. All in all it was a good day, and I would definitely go back again. read more

LOVE this place.. during the day and the night. Went there for a tasting during the day. For $8 you get more than enough to figure out what you like AND you get to keep the glass. Went back for dinner with friends... great! The atmosphere was almost like a celebration. Everyone, eve at all the tables, were social, friendly, talkative.. maybe it was the wine?! There was a great band playing too, so we stayed and had a great time. The food was good, but a bit pricey for what you got. I will say the Good vs. Great rating is because they do not allow you to bring outside food. They wine seems like their last priority. They don't offer any sort of flights for tasting & you have to purchase the glassware when you order your drink. It would have been nice to have the option to opt out of the souvenir, but I guess it doesn't matter since their wine is almost undrinkable. The food was inconsistent, a member of my family got the hummus plate & brisket & raved about it. I waited in line for a half an hour & got burnt/stale pita & very fatty brisket. The atmosphere & live music were lovely & the staff was very friendly, but their bathroom ( singular ) was very outdated ( think public pool bathroom ). Over all I can't see making the trip back out here or recommending this destination to my friends & family. read more

This place has a huge problem. The bar tending staff was excellent and the wine was so so. The wine you can find comparable almost anywhere at a much lower price but it was ok, but this lady that was telling people she was the owner was so rude to people. Not sure if they were just too busy for her to handle or she just got overly stressed out but she was rude to a lot of people. Someone said something to her and all I could her was if you don't like it you can leave. A little to much attitude and self importance for a business owner. The will be the last birthday party I will attend there. read more

Cedar lake you have found a great little spot west of the city. Great grounds and a fair wine list (but heck very little mark up on what you are offering so kudos there!). But....and I can only base this on our very friendly waitress...your staff is sorely lacking on even the basics of wine knowledge...give them some basics so the can tell a merlot from a Cabernet and you'll be on the right path! Food? Just skip it, really have dinner before you come out and enjoy the wine and relax. Seasonal cheeses are offered...cheeses are NOT seasonal! And some havarti? Really? Havarti! Wife ordered a tenderloin and missed the waitress saying they could not cook to order as it just comes from the random guy grilling out back and they just plate the..cold..overcooked..over priced..inedible..meat.. Also..well I'm just piling on..don't call the guy plugging his iPod into the speakers who plays five songs on his keyboards the leaves 30 minutes early for another gig..a BAND...Also..toss me a $60 heater out here...the fire pits look nice but we were coldddd... If there was one mistake we made with Cedar Lake Cellars, it was not going there sooner. This place will totally ruin other local wineries for you, as none of them are able to hold up to the standard set by this winery. Location? Beautiful acres with a gorgeous lake, tons of indoor and outdoor seating. Wine? All very good. Some of them better than others. Out of the 8-9 wines we got to taste (very good value for the fee, by the way), we really fell in love with 3-4 of them. We spent more at this winery buying wine after than all other wineries combined. Out of all the wineries we've visited, this was the only one aggressively urge my friends to visit. The rating system on Yelp is unjust to where this can only be 4.5 / 5.0 stars - when it's vastly better than any 4.5 / 5.0 star winery in Missouri. read more

We went on a Friday night. The place is a nice venue. However, when we were seated the server came to the table and we made it very clear we were not in a hurry. We ordered 2 entrees and shared a salad. Within maybe 5 minutes we were served both entrees AND the salad at the same time. Clearly, not the way you do it. We made the problem known to the manager who then showed real attitude towards us for complaining. The food was very mediocre (shrimp and grits, chicken parmesan). Finally, the manager came back to the table and offered to take 20% off the bill. That was ok but I would rather have enjoyed the experience and paid full price. Wouldn't go back ever again. read more
