Nice area, but we planned a reunion for a year, they kept cycling thru new workers so was worried stuff would not be ready. We got there and found that not all our tables were set up so we did that ourselves. We did not even bring that up, we wanted to not cause issue. Then no one visited our group so we all had to wait in line to get our wine even though we paid for a server. When I check my bank account someone wrote in more money, I called them they said would call back and never did. The next morning they called and apologized for not calling back but said they charged me more since tip was not included yet we asked if the quote included that. They said they have to talk to another person yet no call back. Waiting to hear back but ready to have bank dispute the difference. Would not plan event here folks, not unless you record everything they say. I have been waiting 4 days to hear back from them, please avoid to this place. read more

Other than being in the middle of nowhere. This place is an absolute gem. Setting is perfect. Food comes out a little slow but compliments the wine well. I have always had a good time here. They key is getting there early because it can get very crowded on Saturdays. My wife loves the wine slushes but a little expensive. They have Missouri, California, and International wines. If you are not a wine drinker they also have a beer selection. Inside is very nice but not real big we prefer to sit outside. Don't know if it has changed but outside you go order your food and drinks at two of the bars but they do deliver the food. Wine tasting is only at the inside bar. read more

Went for a second try with some friends. The staff was friendly and the live band on Sunday was great! The food was both good and bad. The server gave us the wrong menu. One from as she said a year ago. Then gave us the correct one with we are out of this and that. Dinner service just started. How can you be out of something already?? They need to update their website and add their new staff managers names on the Contact Us listing. The Asian Nachos were GREAT. The Cedar Burger was not worth 13.00! The Wine was great and the beer and atmosphere was very pleasant. We had a good time and look forward to going back. read more

If you like large, busy and loud wineries, then this place is for you. I must warn you however.....they have a huge bug problem. In all my years of visiting wineries, and I have visited my fair share, this place needs to spray for bugs. Let me clarify that......I do not wish to spend my entire visit outdoors swatting bugs off of me. There are a ton of wineries that you can enjoy the outdoors and not be bugged by bugs. I recently made my first trip to this winery and sadly, I didn't want a souvenir glass or any wine to take home. Will not visit again. But to each their own. Terrible experience! EVERYTHING on the dinner buffet was cold and the chicken pot pie had bones in it! Made the manager aware and she said it was because the food was sitting out while the door was open. Ummm no. We watched them bring the food out there was no time for food to get ICE cold. This is not a family welcoming winery. We came over after doing the battle at the grounds. My brother and I brought my niece's boyfriend who did the race with us; after we got cleaned up we walked up to the winery-we didn't get five steps onto the bridge before we was approached and my niece's boyfriend was asked if he was 21, "he said no" and we was asked to leave immediately. I have been all over the country and never heard of this; I did look at their website and it did say this; however, doing a "mud run" and giving beers out to all who had a wrist band on sure wasn't an issue; however, it sure is there.. save a trip and go to another winery where your family is welcome and a winery doesn't turn away responsible people who bring a designated driver. read more

The wine slushies are delicious and the landscaping and scenery are beautiful. That being said the customer service is probably the most horrible I've ever experienced at any winery. And I go to a lot of wineries... Can't really blame the staff because they always seem like they're understaffed and very very frustrated. They also close their kitchen very early even though it's busy. I was once told by the outside shed people that they would serve me food but I had to order inside I went directly inside and the person there said that they couldn't cook food there anymore. It was really weird. I'm not impressed by their wines at all, but the food is great. If the staff would be more supported the place could be so much better. read more

Before our arrival I called to be sure they were "wheelchair accessible" I was told that they were indeed accessible. So, my friend (who uses a wheelchair) and I decide to take the drive and enjoy a meal. The location of the restaurant/winery makes it appear promising. The owners were at least wise in this regard, having selected a spot with a splendid view of a small man-made lake. Upon arrival, we learned that they had a very loose interpretation of "wheelchair accessible". The opening of the restaurant was accessible, however the tables were all tall and there were steps leading to the dining room as well as the patio. Wine tasting was impossible since there is only a standing bar. We were told we would need to go through the grass if we wanted to go outside-since there was no dining accommodations for us inside- we had little choice. At no time did the greeter seem to care or apologize for the inconvenience. Once we finally settled at a table outside (after rolling through the grass) we did not see a waitress for 10-15 minutes. When someone finally stopped by with food menus I asked for a wine menu--it took another 10 minutes for it to arrive. It was at least 30 minutes before a waitress came by to take our order of an appetizer and bottle of wine. After consuming our appetizer we decided to order a couple of sandwiches--I ordered the grilled Ahi Tuna sandwich and asked for it to be prepared medium/medium well instead of the usual preparation of rare. The waitress came back to inform me that the manager said, "We are not a steakhouse so the tuna may be cooked well." It makes me wonder how a chef only understands two degrees of doneness (rare or well). As we waited for our food to arrive the waitress came out with our bill--she said she was getting ready to go home and needed to clear her tickets. So, our bill was cleared before we were given an opportunity to sample our food. No wonder since my sandwich was indeed EXTREMELY well done, dry and bland. It was the single saddest Ahi tuna sandwich that has ever come out of a professional kitchen. Once our food was dropped off we saw neither a waitress nor anyone else. When it was time for us to go I had ask 3 servers for a wine bag before someone finally brought one to us. I know what constitutes good service, and am more understanding than most when mistakes are made and/or mistakes happen. With that said, the service is inexcusably terrible. Visiting the Cedar Lake was certainly an experience to remember, but one that I never hope to repeat and would not wish upon anyone else. If you are tempted by the landscape I can only hope you are not in a hurry, hungry, or use a wheelchair. read more

This place was despicable.. I would never go back. A lady who I found out later was the owner approached two men and told them to clean up their mess as they were clearly still eating. I couldn't believe what I heard so I went over and said wow I'm really sorry. The owner wasn't going to any other table telling others to clean their tables. There were plenty of tables people just left their mess. It seemed she was targeting a gay couple. This women who owned the establishment was foreign and if she thinks this is acceptable in our society she has another thing coming. I was with a wedding and would never have an event there or attend anything there. read more

My first brunch experience last year was great, I couldn't wait to come back. Unfortunately, my second experience this past Sunday was no where near the same. The food was all very disappointingly bland, bland, bland. I had to salt and pepper the hell out of everything. No where worth the inflated $20 cost (which has gone up since my first visit), this is not Vegas and the variety was not complimentary. The biscuits for the biscuits and gray were cold and hard. I mean Like I was cooked a day or two ago cold and hard. And the buffet in the middle of the eating area is just awkward for those seated next to it. Put it back up in that area by the front door like you used to. Wanting to enjoy the nice Spring day we paid out tab and went to the bar for a drink to enjoy outside. Bartender says "oh, it's busy season again so we only have plastic cups". WHAT?? In what world of any winery is it acceptable to drink wine out of cheap plastic cups????Sensing my disdain I was told I could "buy" a glass. Um, no. Then I get "oh did you guys eat brunch" I say yes and she seriously goes "oh, you should have brought that glass up". Are you kidding me??? Really, I should have brought you my dirty glass that had something else in it up to you for reuse? This was all very off putting. She did end up giving us real glasses after I promised to bring them back when done. This comes off as cheap and really killed the mood and feel of the day. Invest in more glasses, busy season or not. If you are going to call yourself a winery then do it right. The lake area is nice, but the music was a bit on the loud side. A mix of music would have been nice - it was all country. Meh. I will give them one more chance. read more

The main reason I am giving Cedar Cellars a 3 star is because my daughter and I both called and left messages to make a reservation (they were too busy to answer phone and said they would call back) neither of us got a call back. Sunday buffet ok...nothing great. Next time will probably just get a bottle of wine and sit outside and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere. Also spent all morning cleaning my car only to find when you get there you have a long dusty gravel road to drive on...don't bother going in a clean vehicle. (Server was very nice). I went here with a group of friends and was really looking forward to it because I had heard some good things about it. When we arrived, we were seated promptly and the atmosphere, with the fire in the fireplace, was really nice. Our server was prompt and attentive and took great care of us as well. I ordered the Chop, my wife and others ordered the Chicken Pot Pie, another person ordered the Prime Rib, and yet another ordered the Meat Loaf. My Chop was tough, dry, and obviously way overcooked. Those that had the Chicken Pot Pie said, and have to agree because I tried my wife's, said that it had a really funky taste, that we were unable to quite identify. The person in our party that had the Prime Rib said that it was delicious, the person that had the Meatloaf said that it was only so-so. All in all, dinner was a real disappointment. When our server brought the dessert tray out, it looked very appealing and everyone ordered a dessert. Since we're all close friends, desserts were shared amongst each other and as a group, we had every dessert offered. All of them were really good and you won't go wrong with any choice you make. I'm not really even a dessert person and I was really impressed! I'll give this place two stars because of the service, atmosphere, and desserts, however, I don't think we'll do dinner here again based on the pretty consistent experience we had across the entrées. I am reviewing Cedar Lake in terms of their venue for a wedding. It's been almost a year since we got married here (September 1) and I still am sooo thankful that we chose Cedar Lake as our venue for the ceremony and reception! The location is absolutely perfect and stunning if you are looking for an outdoor venue and even better if you want a rustic/country style wedding! The food was fantastic (especially for wedding food), there were plenty of food and alcohol packages to choose from to fit your needs, the venue was large enough to accommodate our 215 guests, and Angie (wedding coordinator from cedar lake) was so helpful with making sure the day went smoothly. Chef Lee is awesome! I was visiting from LA, and my dietary restrictions don't exactly go over well with the locals. I talked to Lee and asked if there was anything I could eat that was vegetarian and gluten free, despite the fact they didn't have anything that fit these requirements on the menu. He listened to my concerns, said "I got this," and shortly brought out an amazing plate of sautéed veggies in a balsamic reduction, olives, and the best hummus I've ever eaten. He was incredibly helpful and so nice. The winery was also very cute and picturesque. read more

I had such a horrible experience visiting this establishment this past weekend. Upon arrival, we pulled up to the front entrance to let my grandma get out of the car without having to walk through the parking lot and we were immediately yelled at. The security guard asked us what we were doing and after we told him he started yelling move it out, lets go. He was incredibly rude and had the worst attitude. I wish I could say I had a better experience inside. Unfortunately I did not. Once inside we were never greeted so we went to the bar to wait. There were 2 bartenders who never acknowledged us. We figured they were busy and we should wait. Instead they started to count money in front of us (why would you want customers to see that?!)! I would expect this kind of behavior at a dive bar or fast food establishment but not at a reputable vineyard. Once I finally got the attention of one of the bartenders she made a snark comment then proceeded to tell me someone would be with me. I had full intention of purchasing a bottle of wine or two upon arrival but after my two unfavorable and rude encounter I opted to order one drink and close my tab. After this I went outside where I proceeded to order food. I must say the pricing was reasonable but then I understood why. The food was very dry and bland, almost as bland as the wine. I'd suggest skipping this vineyard and seeking another. If the service were better it could compensate for the lackluster food & wine, but everything from the people and service to the food environment was unpleasant, unwelcoming, and unsatisfying. read more

Great place for wine. However the dinning experience was awful. Let me start by saying that I am not a picky eater but I could not eat their food. My friends said the same. I ordered the stake and the waitress said that they only served it medium rare, no other way... Which was weird to me but I was fine with. The stake was horrible, zero flavor and came out cold! The vegetables side was flavorless and cold and all the vegetables were smashed. The potatoes had zero flavor. To end it all, all the desserts were awful, no flavor at all... And I say all the desserts because we ordered all of them (3) to share and they were all the same. They had some sort of butter cake that we couldn't even chew. Will never ever go there for dinner. Only for wine and maybe appetizers, but after our dinning experience I will be even be hesitant to try those. read more

We took a group of 9. The service was excellent. It was difficult ordering from the menu because there were several items that I could have chosen and my Salmon was delicious. Make sure to make room for desert as there are several; the creme brûlée was my favorite. Because they serve wines from California and other states there is a wide selection. The walk up bar area was for tasting but the focal point of the room with its granite countertop and backdrop of wine cubbies. I love this winery great place to go on a sunday afternoon to just relax and enjoy a bottle of Wine by the lake and listen to what ever band they have playing that day. This winery is one of prettiest I have been to. My husband and I try to go to this winery once a month because we love the peace on quiet this place brings. The food is good and the selection of wines they have is fabulous. There one bartendar that work there I just love I wish I had her name she is so sweet she now knows me by name if that tells you how much I love this place. It a great little day trip just relax and have a good time . We where there on sunday I got the pulled pork sandwich it was good wine I got a bottle of the the new Rose wine which was so good and light. read more

Beautiful grounds, good food, and good wine. I planned part of my sister's bachelorette party here (working with Jeannie, who was very helpful!), and they happily accomidated our large party. We had a table reserved and party platters with veggies and hummus, fruit, and small sandwiches ready when we got there. We were on a tight schedule and they were very understanding and prompt. Everyone seemed to have a great time, and said good things about the food. I'm very happy with the experience and the service. I'd love to come back! read more

I always like Cedar Lake because it is a very pretty setting and there are some good wines to choose from. But I have to take a star off for the fact that repeat customers who just want to buy a bottle and go sit down outside without doing a tasting have to wait in long lines behind people who are tasting for 20 minutes at a time. Why not have a person in another area who is just selling bottles. We were told they do that in the summer, but not this time of year. Today was a gorgeous late winter day and the crowds were thick. The manager should have considered the weather ahead of time and been prepared. We had to wait quite a long time behind several groups of tasters to buy a bottle of our usual when we first got there, and then again later when we went back for a second bottle. We didn't really plan to spend the afternoon in line. read more

Absolutely stunning! Not only is this a fun and amazing place to go on the weekends, it's a beautiful place for a wedding. We went to the brunch for my in laws anniversary, it was delicious. They have great food and great drinks to go with it. I also had the pleasure of getting married at the big red barn this weekend and it was stunning. The staff were great and worked with me to achieve the idea I had in mind. When we had to move the ceremony in doors because of the weather, no problem! They were ready to start moving things as soon as I said the word. My coordinators were there all night to check on us and make sure we didn't need anything. The chef himself came out to make sure we were satisfied with the food. And at the end of the night they helped us to pack up, wrapped up our cake for us, and were super friendly the entire time. This place is always a good time, and they always seem to have plenty of seating. I've been to a couple weddings here, they run a pretty good reception here. The wine is meh, but I don't really enjoy Missouri wines anyway. I believe they have a few out is state wines, which is good to have. I really just stick to beer when I'm here..... Had a great time with friends here yesterday. Had reserved a table for 10 outside under the covered patio-with the purchase of a pretzel party platter. The weather forecast was questionable so Emily called me the day before and asked if it was alright if she moved us inside to a table. The music was also moved inside so it worked out great! Everyone there it's always so friendly and helpful! They treated us great. Great food- great wine- they even have beer for those who don't prefer wine. Visited this place yesterday afternoon. I have been here quite a few times. The wines are good the atmosphere is very good and the outside beautiful. They have bands play a lot outside and makes for a very lovely time. Although the wines are not produced there they do have some nice choices. If you like sweet - the M-OO-N Route and Fire Truck are two of my favs.... I definitely suggest the wine tasting. read more

This has been my favorite winery around these parts for awhile. It's a real party atmosphere and lacks the pretense that you get with some of the others around Augusta. The wines are pretty solid and reasonably priced when compared to other area wineries. There's nothing too special about the food served outside, but it's really just a means to an end out there in my opinion and does the trick. The brunches I have been to on the other hand have been fantastic. You can't bring kids, no exceptions, even to Sunday brunch, but again it is what it is and they do a great job at it. I met the owners father one summer as he was sitting near our table and we started up a conversation. He was awesome and rightfully proud of his boy. That in of itself it pretty cool if you think about it. Oh and they have done pretty cool bands there as well. When I first started going there it hadn't really caught on yet and I appreciated the ease of the tasting room. But hey, it's a great place and people found out.
