This is my to-go middle eastern place when I'm back in Troy. The chicken schwarma sandwiches are usually amazing (but last time the meat was chunky orange breast meat, not the usual shredded tender meat they usually have), and the falafel sandwiches are always amazing. The garlic sauce is to die for. And so is the bread - they make their own bread in a tiny oven! It's super cute and super good. The consistency is usually very good except for last time. I've ordered here more than I care to count, and my order has only never been ready 3 times (which was the case last time). So lost a star for last time, but overall, 4.5 stars. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Cedar Grille. Went there for the first time today for lunch and I seriously wanted to go back for dinner. The beef kabob was SO tender and delicious. Best I've ever had. The hummus and bread are fantastic. I will never be able to eat grocery store hummus again it's so good, ha ha. The service was wonderful, and everyone was so nice. Small and cozy space. Explained all questions and so welcoming. If you want to try Mediterranean, do it here as they have an incredible menu with amazing food. If I could give zero stars I would. From the moment we walked in the service was horrible. The service was so bad to the point that everyone in the restaurant was looking at each other and having side conversations of how bad the service was. The food was cold and tasted old. I have eaten at Cedar Grille several times and food was pretty good until now. I have ordered take out through Grubhub and food quality was definitely suboptimal. To be fair, my husband said his lamb shawarma sandwich was fine. However, I had the worst Shish Kebab that I have ever eaten in my life. I am a big fan of Shish kebab and I even had the same dish before at the Cedar Grill and it wasn't that bad like today. I could tell either that shish kebab was cooked about 4 hours ago and reheated or they used very bad quality beef and over cooked it to hide the bad quality. It was pretty gross and I couldn't eat more than three pieces of meat even though I was pretty hungry. Cedar grill is usually famous for freshly baked small flat bread. Even that mini flat bread was very bad today. They were rock hard and old breads. Very disappointing. I don't think I will ever order food from there again. read more

I ordered delivery from here tonight and was really impressed with the quality of food, especially for the price! I ordered the beef kabob with a side Greek salad. The meat was so tender and tasty. The only thing I was a little bummed about was the portion of the meat! Only four pieces, but I'll know for next time to get the larger order. This was my first time at Cedar Grill and with a 4 star rating, they did not disappoint. The 1/2 Deboned chicken was flavorful and well seasoned. The side salad was a bit over dressed, but flavorful. The rice that came with the chicken was not special, but tasty. I wish they offered humus with the chicken as an additional option in lieu of rice ... would have liked to try the humus. The restaurant was empty at 7:30 in a Tuesday, which sometimes makes me think that staff does not want you there and as a result, may not deliver a good meal. They did not fall into this trap, and delivered a good meal, and showed they were happy to serve me, granted I did not dine in. Overall, this place is a solid 4 star restaurant with delicious offerings. read more

"Mr. Rude and his mediocre food" As I entered this establishment, a rude, bald headed man from way in the back of a long dining room barked at me, "are you here for takeout". To which I replied "no, I'd like to eat here." Kafta nazi replied "ok, but the kitchen closes soon and we are finished 10". It was 9.15 p.m. And there was literally NO ONE in the entire restaurant. This was of course, just a wonderful initiation to the rudeness I would receive during my meal, that was memorial for the most surly service I have had in any memory. After we sat down, this still didn't not jolt my grumpy weight challenged friend into action and we were without menus --- even though we were on a deadline. Finally as I was going to get up and get a menu, he said "no, I'll get it:. Oh, how nice of you, Mr. restaurateur! The delights continued... * Inexplicably, the salad was delivered with virtually no dressing on top, yet sitting in a small pond of it at the bottom of the plate * Predictably dry chicken kebabs. Beef ones were better as was the Kofta. * While the card at the table said he took recipes from his Mom in Lebanon, I think she must have a been a bland WASP, as this was the least flavorful Middle Eastern food I've ever had. Garlic sauce needed....umm.... garlic. Service # No one asked if the food was ok # My water was never refilled # I was never asked if I wanted something to drink # They literally cleaned up and put away every chair in the restaurant while we were eating. I want to just say that while I enjoyed my meal, I am not happy that the pita bread they brought out was not accompanied by garlic paste but instead salsa. Not the nice tasty kind but the bland store bought tasting kind. When I asked for garlic paste, they said they charge for it (obv I bought some) but it made me sad that they wouldn't just serve their customers like most Middle Eastern places and give us the dang garlic paste. Now that I'm done ranting: meal quantities are huge, between the pita bread, the appetizers we ordered and our main courses, none of us went home without leftovers and a full stomach. I love a meal that also fuels my next meal. The food was good, and while the ambience is nothing special, it's clean. I can't say it's the best I've had but it's nowhere close to worst. Perfectly delicious! I didn't have huge expectations for this restaurant but boy did it exceed them. The place is clean, and has a fair number of tables. There are two tvs that shouldnt be there. I dont like tvs in restaurants unless its a sports bar. The service was very good, very attentive. The young lady did not rush me and provided good explanation for some of the menu items. I chose the lamb kabob which was accompanied by a middle eastern rice. I asked for the lamb to be cooked medium and it came out medium rare. No worries because it was delicious. The portions were sufficient by far. The entree came with a salad and I picked the Jerusalem salad which was amazing. Dinner also came with traditional bread and a tomatoe caper salsa. My boyfriend comes to this restaurant all the time for lunch (his office is close by). I met him here last week for lunch and I enjoyed it better than i thought i would. This place is super clean and neat. We of course came during the lunch rush, but were able to get in right away and the service was still fast. We each ordered a smoothie, which were really good. I'm a vegetarian, and some places don't offer a lot of vegetarian options...but this place does!!! I ordered the Cedar Assortment, with hummus, tabooli, grape leaves and rice. Everything was extremely fresh and tasted really good. The bread was hot and soft and was great to stuff my tabooli into. I wish my office were closer to this restaurant so i could eat here more often!!! Although, i may need to start having my boyfriend bring me take out!!!! read more

I found this precious hidden gem by chance, I was going to Starbucks next door and saw this Lebanese restaurant. I went inside to check it out and saw Kousa Mahshi (stuffed zucchini w/ lamb and rice) for their special on that day, served with plain yogurt, and/or soup or salad. Even though I was not really hungry, I order it because it brought me back memories from my mom's kitchen. I have to tell you, it was phenomenal!!! The portions are big and very reasonable. This is a great restaurants and probably the best Mediterranean food I've found in the area. The service is great from when you first walk in to the very end. I went in for lunch at around 1:30, and the restaurant was still packed. I could see why afterwards. My meal came with complimentary bread and a sauce, which was piping hot and fresh from the oven. Those came with unlimited refills. The hummus was nice and creamy, and my mixed Kabob plate was decent. The chicken was tough, but in all the food was stellar. Everything was extremely fresh, and the ingredients were of good quality. Touch up on a few things here and there and the meal would be just perfect! read more

I ate in today, and had good service. My food was better than I remember in the past. I started working across the street third quarter for 2010. I ate here a TON for a year, until A. the service got so bad I couldn't get a sandwich in a one hour period, and B. better lebanese is out there. It seems that's all been ironed out, and I'll be trying this a few more times. There's not as close in the Crooks/Long Lake corridor. Falafel: Crispy outside, hot tender inside. Very good. Only gripe is vlasic style pickle chips, not the usual mediterranean pickles you think of. Small Greek Salad: Good size for the price, fresh toppings and plenty of dressing. Very much a win on this. Chicken Kafta Sandwich: Crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, and garlic inside this flavor sandwich. All rolled up in a crispy pita bread. Garlic Paste: On the hot side, really lingers and can overpower in the sandwich at times. You will taste and smell like garlic for a while after, gets into the oil of your skin! House bread: Done in the little brick oven, I call the pillow tops. Comes with the house salsa which is a zesty tomato blend with spices and capers. Food quality wise it's good. $4 a sandwich can't be beat when it's hot and fresh. I do wish they had two versions of their garlic paste, I like mine far less 'hot' than they serve here. Wow. Five stars for the baba. I'm ecstatic about this joint and agree with fellow yelpers who rave about how good the food here is. It's a fantastic spot for take out, just be prepared to order a half hour in advance or...be prepared to wait for about 30 minutes when you show up to pick up. Service, decor, and all else aside (although I thought service was great, I felt bad that the waiter who helped me with my takeout felt compelled to organize my car to make room for the food) I'm extremely picky about babas, likely because l've both tried to make it on my own (I failed. It tasted nothing like it should) and I've had some terrible ones where they've skimped on the eggplant (makes for way shorter prep) and the baba ends up looking like hummus because it's drowned in tahini. Not at Cedar. Their baba is oh so meaty and smokey, I could literally just order this and have it for dinner. Stopped in for the first time during dinner the other night and knew as soon as we walked in that we would be back. There were only a handful of people eating during peak dinner hours, which usually isn't a good sign, but what I also noticed was a constant steam of people getting carry-out orders. I got the chicken and beef combination plate with potatoes and the lamb soup...it was amazing. The protein was cooked perfectly and the potatoes were spicy, but that's how they were described. My girlfriend got one of the shrimp dishes and she said the same thing about her meal. The only thing that keeps me from giving it the full 5 stars was the waitress. The service was good, but she wasn't very familiar with the menu and what different entrees contained. For someone making their first visit to a restaurant this was a slight disappointment, but everything else was great. We will definitely be back. read more

I ordered food online to be delivered at 1:00 pm for our management team. it arrived at 11:30, employees at Cedar Gridon't understand the importance of why food is ordered at a particular time! I don't recommend ordering for a certain time or for corporate. The restaurant owner emailed and text me several times apologizing and thanking me for the feedback. They really wanted to have the opportunity to make it up to us. They delivered lunch to us at the requested time free of charge. The food was hot and delicious and their apology sincere. I ordered Cedar Grill from UberEats last week and forgot to review it. The results are not good folks. It was delivered so I cannot review the diner, but the food was mediocre at best. I ordered a small fatoosh salad, the house Mezza Plate, and a side of garlic sauce. The salad was really bad, the lettuce was old and soggy. The bread had that reheated hardened texture to it (obviously reheated a couple times), and all of the Mezza's (in my opinion) were pretty bland. Especially the hummus. I didn't even like the garlic sauce, (which I paid extra for) it was gritty, not smooth like it usually is at other middle eastern restaurants. read more

I dislike doing bad reviews, but the whole experience for this late lunch was bad. First, there is a sign at the front that says wait to be seated, I stood there for quite a while before someone finally noticed me and said to take any seat. After a few minutes I ordered a simple lunch item. The soup and food came pretty fast, the soup was good, the simple rice and lamb was bland and not good. There was only one waitress and thus she didn't bring silverware and after waiting to see if I could get her attention, I got up and walked to the cashier to get my own. Then getting a water refill was painful, but after some time she did fill it up. She seems like a very nice lady and I don't think she could help it being the only waitress and she was cleaning tables too. Get the poor girl some help.
