Bourbon southern pecan ice cream cone.
    Gene T.

We came here on a Saturday. We arrived a few minutes before they opened. They opened at 1 pm. We could review the special flavors on the board. Once they opened the door, I knew exactly what I wanted. I ordered the bourbon southern pecan. This is a special flavor for April. Immediately, I could taste the bourbon. This is a sweet, nutty ice cream with a kick. I enjoyed every bite. I will have to stop in next month to see what new flavor shows up.

Even though the prices have gone up recently it is still a good deal and its the best ice cream around. Kids love the "Big Cow" outside and everyone loves the huge selection of flavors! My personal favorites are Black Cherry, Malted Milk and Pistachio. So many others to chose from. Located not too far from the Car Ferry Dock.... Don't leave town with out getting a cone! Limited hours in the winter months. They do sell quarts to go for those who don't want to pig out at one of the tables!

It's always cool to drive by a dairy and see an ice cream parlor attached to one end. This ice cream parlor also has a 50'+ cow in front of it. In a land (Wisconsin) of great ice cream there's stood out as above average. The service was friendly and they were generous with their toppings unlike some other places (Unfortunately some ice cream places think it's okay to merely drizzle hot fudge over a sundae). Three of us got ice cream for around $10 so their pricing is a real plus in my book. Cedar Crest is a solid choice for ice cream treats (and it has a really big cow in front of it).

    What's in the quarterback sneak....yum!

The old fashioned ice cream counter would be fun to enjoy during warmer months, it was somewhat cold outside, so we settled on a few to-go treats instead. We purchased a couple different items including some chocolates, caramels and the sleeper pick of all the items - homemade hot cocoa mix. The mix is basically leftover chocolate shavings and makes for a delicious cup of hot chocolate. They also offer a ton of molded chocolates. Dinosaurs, flowers, race cars, animals, shapes, holiday items, etc. A variety of prices and sizes and in different chocolate types. The chocolate used in the shapes is a creamy, high quality one. Fun pit stop before heading home for the day.

We'll get to that later. I find Chocolate grahm crackers, rice crispies, nutter butters, Oreo's, and of course artistic pretzels to name a few. All are hand dipped and decorated beautifully, no machine could make each so perfect. I move on and find chocolate spoons for drinks, I am intrigued by the alcohol infused craft chocolate and then... I see chocolate covered key lime pie! well and others but really? Who thinks of this? Well that is not the end. Every time I stop in, I learn more and more. They offer individualized wedding offerings and other event ideas. I'm not going to lie, I mention, I may just like chocolate covered gummy bears. I know not so elegant but they are surprisingly pleasant :) Ok so cost for these items are reasonable and fair. Reasonable enough that I plan to organize something original for the office this holiday season. Ambience and Experience: We were looking for a good Italian place and it had good reviews on Google…read moreso we decided to give this place a shot. You order at the bar and then wait in that area until you are seated at a table in the dining room. While we waited, we decided to try a couple of their fall cocktails. Not great, the drinks were very weak and you could tell were made with the cheapest booze available. Presentation was neat but the first sip quickly disintegrated the hype. Food: I have a nagging suspicion that most of what we ordered was not made fresh in-house. Everyone at our table ordered pasta except for one kid's meal and when glancing around at the tables around us, everyone had ordered just pizza. I think that is what this place is know for because their pasta ain't it. My wife and I tried the gnocchi and ravioli. You could tell they were not made in-house, especially the gnocchi (gummy, chewy texture is a dead giveaway. True homemade gnocchi will melt in your mouth). The sauces lacked spunk and everything just tasted canned and frozen to me. Portion sizes were also on the smaller side yet prices were expensive. $18 for frozen/packaged ravioli in a maybe homemade sauce (didn't taste like it)? Yeah right. Every chef knows that pasta is an easy dish to make good money on because pasta is cheap and easy to make, $18 for pasta with no protein additions is absurd. I will say the kid's pizza was probably the best dish on the table. You could tell that was made fresh and with real ingredients. Not sure why that did not translate to the pastas. So weird. Verdict: Staff were friendly and service was prompt but the food and drinks were lackluster at best. Not worth the price for a sit down meal, more along the line of quick service. Not sure if something was just off the night we went since this place is fairly well liked in the area, not sure.
