Let's start with, it's easy to find. You think it isn't going to be. You're driving down the street. There are apartment buildings. Google tells you to turn into them. You're skeptical, but being a 21st century human being, you do what Google tells you to do. And there it is, plain as day. It's on the first floor of one of the apartment buildings. It looks like a nice little community.
It's street parking, but street parking was ample. I got there at 7 pm and the place was on the full side of semi full, but I still got a spot right in front of the restaurant. Still this evening's date was already there when I got there. I went in and was greeted by a hostess, who immediately noticed my phone in hand and the confused look on my face. She asked if I was meeting someone. I said I was. She suggested that I check the bar and if he wasn't there then I should come back and she would seat me and send him over when he showed up. But I knew he was already there. I thanked the hostess and went into the bar area.
The whole place was very nice. Good decor. Nice atmosphere. Clean. I found my date at the bar. He had already ordered the Pan Seared Pierogi. We took those and his drink over to a booth. Not a regular booth. It was open on both sides. I liked it. The coziness of a booth with the view of a table. My date suggested I try a pierogi. Now, I don't like pierogis. But I was raised to be polite. I ate one. Not bad. And I figure a not bad from someone who doesn't even like pierogis translates into pretty damn good to someone who does like them. The waiter was right over to take my drink order. He hurried back with my drink and asked if we wanted to order. My date wasn't ready and sent him away. I was ready. I like to check menus online beforehand, because I am a very picky eater and I don't want to look like a very picky eater. That's just unattractive. But luckily for me, Cedar Creek Pub has it's full menu online. I pretended to decide on the Elk Burger, which I had decided on hours before. And when the waiter returned, I ordered said burger. My date ordered the same, but without cheese. It turns out, I don't like Elk Burgers. Who knew? This was no fault of the burger or the establishment. I was served a beautiful looking burger. I just didn't like it. I had never tried elk before. And I probably never will again. But now I know. The fries were good. Nothing special, but good, solid fries.
It was good date, so I did that annoying thing I do where I sit in a server's section for a really long time, just chatting away. Didn't faze the server. He brought new drinks as needed but mostly just kept out of the way. After taking up space for a while, we decided to continue our date elsewhere. All and all, it was a good dining experience, except for the part where I didn't like the food. But again, totally not Cedar Creek Pub's fault. I was trying something new and that's always the risk you run. I'm happy that I get to say that I tried it. read more
