On our first night at the Gaylord Rockies, we had dinner at the Fortunate Prospector where we were "fortunate" to have cocktails and food because we are "fortunate" people. Our server was delightful as we reviewed the hard cover menus with the cool design that reminded me of "The Wind and the Willows". The pub interior certainly has the wooden aesthetic of a pub, without coming off as an authentic. But this is within the Gaylord Rockies so it does add variety to the options for restaurants and bars available. For my meal, I enjoyed the Whiskey Wings that were fried well and had a lovely sweet glaze with buttermilk ranch for dipping. The picked Fresno peppers were a nice touch as well. I washed it down with a couple of Bees Knees cocktails that brought me to a place of enormous well being. The Fortunate Prospector is a good option to enjoy food and drinks if you are staying at the Gaylord Rockies. read more

I'm in town in Denver for a conference and this hotel, the Gaylord is a monstrosity of access and consumerism. However, the food I've had at the bar, at the conference and now at this restaurant have been surprisingly good. I stand corrected on what I expected from the quality of the food. I'll start by saying the service is absolutely incredible. I came in here 35 minutes to closing and was never rushed for hurried along. My server, Haylie, was an absolute gem and was very engaging in conversation. The ambience is definitely Denver meets Lodge meets rustic meets current and is a little shtick but definitely warm and inviting. The pricing is a little bit higher than normal but this is a resort and as far as Resort pricing goes if it's completely normal. Haylie recommended the cottage pie and it did not disappoint. The mashed potatoes or soft and flavorful the slash beef underneath was tender and seasoned well. All in all is really good take on a traditional Shepherd's pie. The menu was also pretty small. The whiskey wings appetizer was the star of the show for me. Super flavorful and delicious! I'm kind of not surprised about the long wait being Black Friday and the resort had its annual ICE exhibit. The service was excellent and everyone courteous. After 15mins we were seated nice inside dining area with a full bar in the middle. Our server took our orders but we did get a wrong order brought out , waters were filled once until we asked . Located on the bottom floor of the resort, it doesn't offer a view of the grounds, but it makes up for that with its cozy, welcoming pub atmosphere. The chicken wings were flavorful, and satisfying. The Ploughman's Platter was another standout, featuring a generous assortment of cheeses, cold cuts, and bread, perfect for sharing. That said, the Fried Cod Sandwich was a bit of a letdown. The fish itself was bland and lacked flavor. The main reason we went, though, was for the Sticky Toffee Pudding, and it was absolutely worth it. Had a pretty good experience at the Fortunate Prospector. A British themed pub and restaurant with some of the British classics. The fish and chips stood out to me and that's what I ordered. There were two big pieces of fried cod. The breading was light and more of the British style where you can tell there was some carbonation with the bubbles and crispy bits. Fish was excellent and held together pretty well. The chips were decent though they were more American style wedges. The hatch Chile tartar was a nice touch though it could've had more flavor. I think there wasn't enough capers to cut the grease. Coleslaw was solid as well. Service was great and food came out very fast. Visited for a conference and was with a very large group. The service was super friendly and did their best to keep up. We had a limited menu to choose from. Family-style salads and cheese boards were at our tables. The three dishes ordered around me were the fish and chips, the cottage pie, and the butter chicken. Everyone really liked their food. Personally I loved my fish and chips. Super crunchy and a good portion size. My coworker loved her cottage pie, and the two others we sat with liked their butter chicken but were surprised at how spicy it was. Had breakfast here a few months ago and it was pretty good! We had a waffle, fruit, and an omelette and it was pretty good... I just don't know about the price. They are cashless, which was inconvenient for us (and they said they get that a lot... sooooo hopefully they rethink that). The staff was nice and the ambiance is eh. It's really rustic and dim/dark in there (not in the romantic way), which was kind of a shame, considering how much light is in the main atrium area. After a fantastic dinner at Copper Table recently, we decided to try another spot in this gorgeous hotel. The Fortunate Prospector serves on the vibes- very British pub feel which we loved. However, I have to say the meal was a bit of a letdown. The Fish and Chips were pretty average which maybe is to be expected eating fish nowhere near the ocean. The fish had a lot of breading. The Bangers and Mash however lacked the depth we were looking for. It really tasted like resort food (think the food you'd get at Disney). We are used to bangers (sausages) being packed with flavor.We'll skip this spot in the future. 10/10 with the service though, our waiter was really attentive and kind. read more

My husband and I chose to go here for a date night. We've eaten at and enjoyed all the other restaurants at the Gaylord and while the others were under renovation we figured why not give this one a try. The atmosphere is charming. They nailed the olde English pub vibe as far as decor and food. The story on the menu is a nice touch. The ploughman's platter was a great stater, the pub burger was very juicy and yummy, and the cottage pie was full of flavor and was a very large portion. The cocktails were delicious as well. I believe our server was Heidi (with red and blonde hair) and she was great. She was very attentive and offered great options as this was our first time in. Maylin the manager stopped by to bring us our appetizer and she was very nice as well. However -- the Gaylord really dropped the ball when it came to music choice. It sounded like the 70's-80's mix from the Grand Lodge was being played in the restaurant as well. It completely and throughly ruined the atmosphere of this new restaurant that was so close to being perfect. Some beautiful folk music, Celtic, instrumental anything or even bagpipes would've been nice -- anything but the oldies/classic rock they had playing the entire time. We had a poor experience here, and it seemed largely due to managers. Our party of 6 waited for 25 minutes for a table with the open tables in plain sight. When they finally sat us, the table hadn't been reset with silverware or water glasses, which became an issue later. We never got a server until we finally flagged down an adjacent server, Teagan, who went of his way to help us despite us not being his table. He was friendly and knowledgeable and a positive standout in an otherwise rough experience. Our food took over 45 minutes to arrive and the chicken tikka masala arrived cold. We ate it because it was 9pm and we were too hungry to send it back. When we finally asked to speak to a manager, Ryan stopped by for no longer than 40 seconds, and hearing the issues, failed to acknowledge the extra long ticket time, lack of place settings, cold food and even offer even a perfunctory apology. His lack of response even after we brought up concerns directly was what prompted this review. Was very suprised at how dismissive he was. I'm certain it was below the standards of the Gaylord / Marriot. Food was generally tasty - the reuben was salty and satisfying. The tikka masala curry sauce was delicious to dip chips/fries in--though this was not on the menu as a side we had to ask for it. read more

We were fortunate enough to be a first bite and truly one of the first large parties that has been served, which takes a lot of coordination and effort from all of the staff. Everyone did an amazing job and worked cohesively to ensure every guest received a consistent meal, at the same time, and dishes were served as they were intended (ie hot food is hot and not semi-warm). We had a unique experience with the Executive Chef, Michael Klicos, guiding us through the items that he has fostered from concept to reality. Again, the entire staff hummed like an orchestra without falter as well! We started with a version of a charcuterie, Ploughman's Platter, and the homemade bread, honey butter (sourced locally for the bees), meats and cheeses (especially the sage herb cheddar which is one of my favorites always) just paired together. There was also a grainy yellow mustard and pickled cauliflower, onions, etc. Wonderful start! Then out came the bangers, which are also sourced locally and are very light, served with a complimentary mustard and pickled things and I used some of the grain mustard from the Ploughman's Platter (tip from me) paired with this luscious salad! The brightness and freshness of the salad was so lovely with a green goddess dressing, haircot verts (green beans) and luscious herbs, fennel was my favorite! Our next taste was the Sheppard's Pie, which the potatoes were so light and elegant as they covered the incredible beef stew underneath and when combined were luscious. The mushroom pot pie had an incredibly delicate crust and a bit of a surprise with lentils and sweet potatoes, this was also a favorite of mine. The fish and chips were served with hot mashed English peas - so good- and the fish was battered so light and crispy while warm and flaky inside. The Chicken Tikka Masala was good but I was extremely full and also a spoiled with so many friends from India who cook for me, so it's hard for me to critique this anywhere! Dessert, which I rarely treat myself to, was decadent. We had a strawberry shortcake scone served with strawberry ice cream and, of course whipped cream and strawberries and was so rich and tasty. And finally, a warm toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream and was my favorite. The noise wasn't loud, even on the patio of the restaurant and located near the center bar which is pleasantly surprising. All of the renovation at the Gaylord of the Rockies is worth the look and the stay! I'll definitely be back to relax, staycation and host events! read more

We started out with a Cobb salad. That was very good. We ordered fish and chips recommendation from waitress. Mine came out cold. It was sent back and they must have thrown it back in the fryer. It was so greasy plus the breading was way more than the little fish I actually ate. I'm not happy and can't recommend this place. McDonald's would've been equal in quality and a lot less expensive. This place was a treat. Located on the lower level of the Gaylord hotel. For "The Beginnings" we started off with a Ploughman's platter which was a charcuterie board that consisted of two types of meats that I honestly can't remember which meats they were but they were both very delicious, two types of cheese one was an herb sage that looked green and white and was quite delicious actually and the other was a humboat fog cheese that almost looked like blue cheese but tasted way better but similar, there was house made bread almost looked like the cheese cake bread but not a roll it was sliced bread definitely dark like Cheesecake Factory, I particularly didn't like it because it was a little dry and just had a weird taste for my liking, I even tried it with the mustard seed sauce and I still didn't like it but I definitely liked the house made mustard seed spread so delicious, there was also pickled veggies like onions and cauliflower and there was one more but forgot what it was. It was very delicious it was sweet and tangy! The last thing in the charcuterie board was pickled eggs, and yeah that was big no for me, way to sour and the egg was very rubbery and dry. Over all I give the charcuterie board a 7/10. The First Course was two food items, the first was called Bangers, it was brains marinated in a local Colorado beer paired with a honey mustard and pickled onions. So I tried it with the honey mustard and pickled onions together and it was very good but I felt the honey mustard took away from the beer flavor so I tried it plain and omg game changer. I would have to say eating it without anything extra really brings out the beer and braut flavor which was my favorite. The braut was very tender you don't even need a knife to cut into it, your fork will suffice. I give this a 10/10 The next first course was called Spring Salad that consisted of English peas, watermelon radish, asparagus, mesclun greens and this green goddess dressing. I will say I wasn't to found if this because it was so bland and all the dressing was at the bottom. Once you got to the dressing it really made the salad that much more enjoyable. They really don't put that mush dressing, I would say it needs more and not so much a dry salad. All the ingredients in the salad were definitely fresh and so crisp!! I would give the salad a 6/10. Needs more dressing and less bland. Next was our Main Course, served was 4 different dishes. The first dish was Shepards pie, OMG hands down the best! The mashed potatoes were so crisp on top and creamy in the middle, they used shredded angus beef instead of ground beef and it was sooooo tender and full of so much flavor as well as creamy! 10/10 for sure Next was the mushroom pot pie, it was made with lentils, fresh mushrooms sweet potatoe topped with a puff pastry. Tbh I was expecting a creamy base instead but was just dry and bland and you definitely didn't get the mushroom flavor with it. Definitely not my favorite. I only ate one bite. It just wasn't good at all. The only thing I liked was the flaky top ie the puff pastry. 3/10 Next was the Chicken Tikka Masala. It came with of course the Tikka Masala, jasmine rice and Naan. This dish was pretty good. The chicken was very tender, my only complaint is that I wish it had a little bit more flavor, the rice was very moist and so delicious along with the naan, this dish was super delicious and I give this dish an 8/10. The last main dish and probably my 2nd favorite was the fish and chips. The fish was perfectly crisp on the outside and flaky on the inside and paired so nicely with the tartar sauce. The fries were fresh sliced and then deep fried. Amazingly they were not greasy at all and crispy as well! This dish was my absolute favorite. 10/10 Lastly was two desserts. Warm sticky toffee pudding and I don't like toffee so I won't really judge this. I tried one bite and of course didn't like it only cause I don't like toffee. My favorite dessert was the strawberry shortcake scone. Omg this was soooo good. The strawberry gelato was so creamy and full of so much flavor and parked perfectly with the scone. It was nice and crisp on the outside and warm and moist on the inside. Hands down my favorite. 10/10 Overall this place is a must visit and I want to try other stuff next time! read more

We were some unfortunate diners tonight at this pretend English pub where they ran out of chips. Our server was absent minded tonight - prob forgot we were even there half the time. There are really long wait times after getting seated and before getting served. Order everything right away because the server may not return for a while. The martini looked like someone took a huge gulp before serving me - check the photo. The martini came out 5 mins before the beer with no word on why. The $6 house bread is very crumbly and looked like someone took a bite from the corner to do a quality taste test. Since they ran out of chips, we were given options of coleslaw, mushy peas, berries, side salad as options. We picked berries but it turned out it wasn't available! And some smashed baby potatoes were served in its stead. Communication is poor and service is super slow. I asked for a to go box but ended up going to the server station to request the boxes and settle the bill while looking for the water pitcher to fill our waters. It's a good place to relax. We ended up sitting here for 2 hours for breakfast. Multiple things were missed and it took a while for us to actually place the order. The food, however, was not bad. It seems like they had a limited selection, but know what they're doing. It's quite good value as well, especially with the restaurant being in a remote resort. After watching the restaurant host take four people while I was standing reading the menu waiting for the host's attention, the host tells me that it will be a 20 minute wait for one person. After waiting 30 minutes for my seat with no notification, I return and am immediately seated. There seemed to be other people having the same difficulty. I am eventually attended to by the waiter, but he didn't return to my table until my coffee cup was empty and my plates had been empty for some time. Edit: After the server remembered me, his service was great. The ambiance would be great. Located inside the Gaylord, this place has the feel of an old British pub. It's only 2 weeks since they opened and you can smell the newness when you walk in. Staff is good but not super friendly. Food was ok. It is my belief they are still working on iron out few details regarding the menu and service. Portions are very large but there is some Identity crisis when it comes to what type of food they want to serve. Is it British food? Is it a hybrid Indian/British food? I can't tell. We are here last night and if I could give it 10/10 I would!! Jarvin was great, Josh and Allison were our servers and they were great, and I didn't get the name of the manager but he was so wonderful!! We have been to so many places where our toddler was well tolerated, but they went out of their way to make us and him feel so welcomed!! They gave us a perfect table to fit our stroller, when he yelled loudly in Josh's direction his reaction was "that was a really good one!" And the manager- bless him- literally got on the floor to retrieve the toy car that was thrown under the table. We were blown away! It's on par with a hotel restaurant. It does a good job of making you feel like your not in the lobby of a hotel, unkess you get sat outside of the bar. It pretends to be an English pub. We started with their strange fries; steak fries with cheese curds and tiki masala sauce. My wife was going to order the chicken tiki masala, but not after eating that. It's as if someone told someone, who told someone else, who told a diner chef what tiki masala should be, and what resulted wasn't tiki masala. She opted for a mushroom pot pie, which was just a bowl of a mushroom filling with a disk of puff pastry on top. I had the fish and chips. They were oily and overcooked at the same time. They cane with a handful of fries. With these prices, I expected either more food or higher quality. The drinks, though we're good and they weren't watered down. Got to try this amazing restaurant during our stay at the Gaylord Resort! The server was extremely helpful and the food & drinks were really yummy. I also really enjoyed the little story they have in the menu! If I stayed longer I would've loved to try their brunch as the menu looked delicious as well! read more
