This is a terrific clean city park! Free and open to the public, it features the "Tomato Splash…read morePad", a wonderful fenced water play area for children with squirting devices of several kinds centered around a giant tipping tomato that fills with water. We spent several hours here, our child loving playing with all the different devices and the array of young children that came through. Leamington is very multicultural and the visitors reflected that in a really wonderful way. Most of the children there were in the 1 - 7 year-old range, with a few well-behaved teenagers wandering through for a quick soaking from the tomato. The rest of the park includes an excellent play structure with a deeply cool teeter-totter device (three sections moving opposite to each other - go check it out!), swings, and lots of picnic tables up in among beautiful old trees. There is plenty of open grass for playing, too. The park includes a nice section of waterfront with a sandy beach along Lake Erie. Unfortunately, recent rains appeared to have overloaded local sewage treatment facilities and the beach was closed to swimming due to E. Coli contamination and smelled terrible. It's separated from the rest of the park by a parking area and grassy section, so the beach problems did not affect the rest of the park in the slightest. Cheers to Leamington for providing such a delightful public park to its residents! We enjoyed it as much as they clearly do.

You won't find lower prices, better selection, or more knowledgable staff anywhere else in Canada. High end optics don't come cheap but if you're shopping at Pelee Wings you can rest assured that you're getting the best price. They stocks the full range of optics from all the major manufacturers: Bushnell, Nikon, Vortex, Kowa, Swarovksi, Leica, Zeiss, and others. They'll let you compare as many models as you like side-by-side out front of their shop; they have bird feeders and resolution charts set up to give you something to look at. The staff are knowledgable and have real, hands-on experience birding with the gear they sell. Furthermore, they'll help you figure out what you need without trying to upsell you. If you're just looking to pick up a $100 pair of bushnells for casual birding then it's probably not worth going out of your way to Pelee Wings. If, however, you're looking to drop $2,500 on a pair of Leica or Swaro bins it's well worth the 4 hour drive from Toronto to Pelee Wings.
