Pleasant Valley Campground - The condition our site was given to us. Muck and clay everywhere. Land caving in on itself!

The worst introduction to seasonal camping! I should have known better, when of all the campgrounds…read morein the area, they were the only ones with openings. It started out well enough - but within the first few weeks we noticed some things. The management was very rude, and made up rules as they went. Things were disorganized and chaotic. The power grids would go out and she would claim it was the responsibility of the campers to fix it themselves. The grounds would flood to your shins during a rainstorm. Sites were poorly maintained and our trailer started sinking into the ground as the ground split apart (yes, we were parked correctly). Management refused to do anything, ripped us off for our winter storage fees, and closed the season early without telling anyone. They shut off everyone's water and then got in big trouble from the town. The kicked out families that had been there for 30 years. The kids' playground would NEVER pass inspection, as it was all rusted out, hand-me-down equipment that looked to be about 50 years old. The police came a few times for incidents in the park. Some trailers were rotted into the ground and it looked like people were squatting there year-round. Weekenders were allowed in but seasonals were not allowed visitors. Finally visitors were allowed but had to give exactly 24 hours notice- to the minute. Management would yell at campers, threaten them, and talk about them behind their backs. One time I heard them flat out lie about a camper. They had special rules for their own family members that they loved to flaunt at you. It was a hellish experience and I could recount so many more things, but I would go on for days! Just stay away! Seriously- don't go! Too bad I can't give zero stars.

I would like to start off by saying that this is by far the worst campground I have ever taken my…read morefamily to. The staff have been very rude, unaccomodating, and confrontational. I have been a seasonal camper for 2 years there now, during which time I was hassled 80% of my visits upon entry to the park. In the beginning I was tricked into taking over soneone's lot with the notion I could make payments on the seasonal fees, little did I know that just 6 weeks later was required to have in full or the park would keep my trailer. After jumping through hoops and doing all they ask I continues to encounter problems with the staff as did others. Last year half of the park decided not to return the following year. This year I had enough and decided to sell my trailer. Upon introducing the purchaser I was then hassled for more money towards yet another year when I clearly stated I was leaving and wanted my winter deposit back. Despite there being no signs stating I could not throw garbage in the front bins (where garbage goes) they refuse to refund my deposit because I used the bins for 30 pounds or less of garbage. Three bags a blanket and a few small items. I was told I had until the 15th of October to remove the trailer if not staying n I would recieve my deposit. Days later I recieve a call stating I am not getting my deposit and the purchaser had only until monday the 1st to remove the trailer even tho my season is paid and the next year deposit. STEER VERY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE AND ITS STAGNANT WATERS, AND DITCHES. If you do not want an experience like this do yourself a favour and keep searching for a better place.

"Oh who cares" you think, " it's a 10 min walk" True Now, it's 2am, you stomach rumbles and you know whats about to happen, better pinch it on your 10 min walk to the hottest bathroom on the planet, with no air flow. Arcade.. Arcade??? hahahahaha!!! I think 3 out of the 8 ish arcades that are there worked. The kids area has a bunch of old plastic playhouses, looks horrible, and the "TV" room is locked up tight. Pools. Kinda sweet. They have 2 outdoor. One for kids one for adults and lots of room to sit and check out all the old women in bikinis. There is also an indoor wading pool for the little ones. It was nice. if you want to camp peacefully, in nature, I would shop around. P.S To the old bitter, curly haired women watering the plants July 20th, 2018 around 8-9am, when a guest pulls in and a carload of kids/myself smile and say "Good Morning" maybe say Hi, Good morning, smile, hell I don't know, but screaming at us that the speed limit is 10km is highly unprofessional considering I was doing 8km... Cause I looked the second you screamed.

We made note of a few other sites we'd like to stay at and plan to return. We liked the privacy that the Wagon Wheel offered, compared to the Lakefront (parking lot camping is not our thing). There was plenty of path for us to ride our bikes so we spent most of our time riding. Next time, we plan to bring a bow and arrow so the littles can try some archery. All in all, it was a great visit and we are looking forward to our next one.

Roads are reverting back to nature (lots of holes and ruts) in the section closest to the St. Clair River, but they are reasonably sized campsites. In the newer section of the park the roads are better, but the sites are smaller. And there are culverts between the sites, which right now are breeding mosquito pits. I'm surprised that there is still a shooting range here at the park, but if you don't mind that noise all weekend, it's not a big deal. I love watching the freighters go by all day long. Its mesmerizing. I think I will try for a river view next time.

Algonac State Park - In multiple places trees made an easily evaded obstacle. Nbd I don't expect them to be clearing the trails every day in the winter.
