TBD Foods - Guests mistakenly chomp the birthday cake! Chef Terrence saves us as we sing Happy Birthday along side his delightful 'reconstruction!'

A seafood boil, with added clams & lobster, was the chosen hit for the birthday guy! Holly & Chef Terrence were very accommodating with special requests. (NOTE: adding lobsters -- may want to request TBD to pre-cut tails and mallet-crush claws for easier eating.) Guests mistakenly ate a special brownie-stacked birthday cake before the presentation, but Chef Terrence jumped in, salvaged, and created a 'deconstructed' cake with candles that served and entertained us well! Big thanks to Holly & Chef Terrence, owners of TBD, and event staff. You're wonderful small business purveyors who work hard and deliver a memorable culinary experience. Continued success!

TLDR: Unprofessional, not very gracious with mistakes and disorganized in the proposal process…read more I reached out to TBD Foods in the last week of September 2025 for a wedding in Denver in August 2026 after working with him in 2018. I am from Denver but live in CA currently and am planning from afar. Sent an incredibly detailed inquiry with day-of event timeline by hour, menu ideas, location (just a few blocks from their prep kitchen) and a bit about the event. Received two separate responses from he and his wife, Holly, seeking details already provided in my initial inquiry like guest count, location, time. Sent several emails back and forth clarifying capabilities, menu ideas, rentals etc. and finally had to set up a call in October (initiated by me after many proposal mistakes) to align. There was constant confusion regarding the style of the event and rentals - TBH, the many proposal revisions due to their mistakes maybe should have been the hint this might not be the best fit. But we went ahead! Terrence was late to the call on October 15 but let me know ahead of time and I genuinely didn't have an issue with it. After aligning, I paid $100 to have a menu tasting on Monday, December 22 when my husband and I would be visiting Denver from CA. So, this is a tasting that has been on the calendar for at least a month. When we arrived at our tasting (after confirming via email the week before and day of) 15 minutes before (6:45p) the scheduled time of 7pm, Terence is irate. Mistakenly, the event in my calendar was in PT (since we live in CA) instead of MT. He says that he refuses to serve us because we have "disrespected him and wasted his time and he has a 4-month-old at home." He continues to say that we are disorganized and lack care and that in addition to not offering a tasting, he will not put in the effort to cook for our wedding after how we've treated him. We are SUPER apologetic - this is something we've spent money on, confirmed via email and have been looking forward to. When asked why he didn't call to check on our arrival time, he said he "doesn't have my phone number. And you confirmed with Holly so that should have been enough." Because I filled out an entire inquiry on their website and spoke with him personally to schedule this tasting, it's BUCK WILD to say that you don't have my number and think sending an email is problem solving enough. We would have literally hopped in the car and been there in 15 minutes had we been given the courtesy of a phone call. All of this to say, we made a mistake, were very apologetic and were treated super rudely and given no tasting despite paying. 0/10 for TBD Foods.

I ordered the buffalo and the sauce really hit my nose as soon as I went for a bit, it was so good! I got to try them at a CU game from their food truck so they had to make a fresh batch of wings, and the staff was super kind. They got the wings out pretty quick and chatted while I waited.

I remembered trying CD's Wings a little over a year ago and really enjoying them, so the plan was set in motion. I was going back to CD's. I was in town on a business trip and had a few colleagues tag along. We made our way over around 1 PM, and the place was just like I remembered it. Not that I expected much to change, but it was nice seeing it stay consistent. Just like my first visit, the place was packed. Seeing that many people there early in the day felt like a good sign that CD's was still doing something right. There are a ton of sauce options, but like usual, I went with flavors I know I'm going to like: Hot and Spicy BBQ. I had read that the wings here are made to order, and after waiting about 20 minutes for them, I believe it. I also specifically told our server that I wanted them wet. Well, they definitely listened. These things were WET. They weren't just covered in sauce, they were practically swimming in it. That's exactly what I wanted. I generally know what to expect from Buffalo, which CD's calls Hot, so I was especially interested in the Spicy BBQ. After that first bite, I immediately remembered why these wings had stuck in my head for more than a year. I came back with high expectations, and somehow they still exceeded them. The Spicy BBQ is exactly how it sounds, but the balance is what makes it so good. You get the sweetness of BBQ along with that Buffalo-style heat, and somehow you taste both at the same time. Neither one takes over. It doesn't taste like they just mixed two random sauces together either. The flavors actually work together, giving you that sweet BBQ taste with enough heat to keep you going back for another bite. The sauce is great, but what really makes these wings stand out is the chicken itself. There's a slight crisp when you bite through the skin, followed by tender, juicy chicken underneath. Considering how wet I ordered them, I was impressed they still had that crisp. Honestly, they don't need to be overly crispy. The juicy chicken, little bit of crunch and all that sauce work perfectly together. After eating a few, I noticed something else. It didn't matter whether I grabbed a flat or a drum. Sometimes the flats are great but the drums aren't quite the same, or the other way around. Here, every wing was good. Maybe they've mastered their cooking time, maybe it's how they prep them, I don't know. Whatever they're doing, it works. I love wings, so maybe someone could say I'm going to give any decent wing praise, but after trying wings at different places around the country, you really do notice the differences. There's a difference between a good wing and one you actually remember months later. CD's falls into that second category. My thoughts were proven even further when the colleagues with me said these were some of the best wings they had tried. What made that even better was that the previous day we had gone out for Mexican food, which is their favorite type of food. When we compared the two meals, they still picked CD's Wings as their favorite. I wasn't expecting that. Am I going to declare these the best wings in Colorado when I haven't tried every wing spot in the state? Probably not. But from what I've tried so far, CD's is sitting at the top, and it's going to take some really good wings to knock them off. If there's one complaint I have, it's that there isn't a CD's Wings back home in Chicago. I genuinely think this place would be a success there. These aren't wings that are just good for the area. I think they can compete with some of the best wing spots I've tried anywhere. More than a year went by between my visits, and I still remembered these wings. After finally coming back, I somehow enjoyed them even more the second time. Wings: 9.25/10
